CherryCezzy So sorry I haven’t been on here much recently, both me and DH are totally recovered and both back at work. Looking forward to being able to have the antibody tests soon which should show if we’ve developed immunity. Can’t imagine why we wouldn’t if it follows the path of previous viruses. The good thing is that it seems to be a very stable virus which is a blessing as I feel it is here to stay for the foreseeable future.

Hello Sunday Kitchen types

Glorious hot and breezy day here.....I’m showing some appreciation by sneezing regularly (hay fever).

Cherry so glad you’re feeling better. dizzy reported this morning on a CV symptom and recovery thread, that she and her OH are now completely well. Hooray!

Synonymous That was very funny. Really Thunderbirds as well! So happy you had a totally relaxing picnic - bet it did you a lot of good mentally. Good for you!

soop dear. Sad to hear of your relative’s situation...but you might still have good news. People can constantly surprise us. Fingers really crossed. x

Susan what the hell is the matter with people. There’s stupidity and mistakes and then total irresponsibility and negligence. Ye Gods...I’d be terrified that I would be stopped from selling food if vulnerable customers just couldn’t trust me. Poor little H...and his Mum and Mum’s Mum and poor you. One step forward three back. He’ll get there, of course, but faster if his progress isn’t hampered by idiots making him ill.

Glad that you’ve heard that all’s well with your own Mum. Such a worry when they don’t understand.

DaisyB. It’s only a little pool envy....it will pass?....especially if you live in lovely Portugal. It is nice to be able to stay cool, though. Well, it is for me, I also need air conditioning. Not reached that stage this year yet....have had a weird and unsettled March and April. February we were paddling in the sea and in shorts on the beach. Maybe the weather (like us) has been very depressed because of Covid19.

Pleased to hear those totally magic plasters/dressing got rid of your pressure sore. When I had really bad heel cracks one summer, they were a miracle healer. I have decided to make an offer for your adorable little GGC’s...what do you think. I particularly like the little “high giving” babba. Will their parents part with them do you think? But, can you imagine the exhaustion. Maybe if I had the energy and stamina of a 20 year old, but I don’t, so I’ll just have to swap your pool envy with baby envy, I think. Take care of yourself and stay well.

Galen how lovely. You sound like a very organised General surveying his troops.

To you all, a happy rest of Sunday ???????☕️? from French France. xx

Grandmafrench Sun 17-May-20 15:29:25

dizzy so glad to hear you’re both better....your post beat me to it! Stay well now.

soop Sun 17-May-20 16:04:57

The latest phone call from my eldest son is that his father, my first boyfriend (when I was 14) and husband when I was 18, is far from hopeful. He is on the max dose of oxygen and cannot be offered further treatment. The family is pulling together. It's what you do.
Middle son (who attended when his dad collapsed) has thankfully been tested non-infectious.

Please excuse me if I log off and wish you well. I'm also very happy to read that Mr and Mrs dizzyblonde are on the happy road to a full recovery.

Whatever tomorrow brings, I shall join you all in our kitchen. It's a place to which I shall continue to seek and find comfort.

dragonfly46 Sun 17-May-20 17:29:16

Gosh soop I am so sorry to hear about your ex. What a worry for your family.
I hope you hear better news tomorrow.

Poor Henry it is worrying that the deli were not aware of the rules regarding allergies and food. I do hope he feels better soon - poor little mite.

I am feeling so much better since Dexter was given a clean bill of health. When we get the cone off next week I am going to scrub him down and brush him as the hair under his chin is bright green from all the grass he licks. He also needs his undercoat grooming so he is cool.

Stay safe everyone.

cornergran Sun 17-May-20 20:23:44

I’m so sorry soop, a worry for you all. flowers.

Doodle Sun 17-May-20 20:24:30

grandmafrench what a lovely pool. That would be nice to relax in.
susan hope little Henry is still doing ok. Glad to hear he is crawling well. It obviously hasn’t slowed him down any ?
soop I can see you lazing by the pool with a cocktail, draped in some exotic floaty fabric and being waited on by some handsome waiter.?
cherry glad you had a lie in and the pain is easier now.

Doodle Sun 17-May-20 20:39:25

synonymous your trip out sounds lovely. So peaceful. Glad you enjoyed it.
daisy lovely photos. Glad your sore bot is better ?
galen I did have a giggle thinking of you with your binoculars directing Gary where to do the planting...right a bit stop...down a bit...now a bit to the left. Do you remember the Golden shot??
susan have just read your post about Henry and the treats. Poor little boy. Hope he’s ok. Mum in law must have been so upset.
soop I am catching up with posts as I read them, so sorry about your ex. That must be hard for your sons. Hope the news gets better.
Hello corner, anno , purplepixie and anyone I’ve missed. Such a busy kitchen, so much to catch up on.
TOYA ?

Fennel Sun 17-May-20 20:57:49

soop sad news for you and yours.
This cursed virus angry But I'm sure youir family is as strong as you are.
Blessings.

Galen Sun 17-May-20 22:07:20

Doodle it’s exactly like the golden shot!
I’m going to try the recipe for HM’s favourite cake as described in some paper. It’s a chocolate biscuit cake and sounds scrummy.
I’ll have to wait until Thursday do it as it includes ingredients like chocolate which I don’t have. My delivery comes on Wednesday night.
I suppose Gary will reluctantly consent to sample it in your absence ?

callgirl1 Sun 17-May-20 22:08:23

So sorry to hear about your ex husband Soop, hoping he manages to turn the corner.
Also very upset to hear about poor little Henry`s upsetting time, I hope he`s soon feeling better.
I`m sorry to keep going AWOL, I`ve hardly been online at all lately, finding it difficult to concentrate for long. The pain is easier to deal with though, now that my Oromorph has arrived. Contrary to what the doctor implied, I`m not going to become an addict, just taking the prescribed dose as and when needed. It`s supposed to be every 6 hours, but sometimes I go longer, so that`s a plus.
My son has to have a CT scan, because they`re worried about his cough which isn`t getting any better, he`s had it since November. He`s very down at the moment.
Pleased to read that Dizzyblonde and her husband are now better, I love good news these days.
I know I`ve missed out a lot of people, so,
TOYA xxxx`

Lins1066 Sun 17-May-20 23:33:06

soop I'm so sorry about your ex, I do hope that there is some better news tomorrow.

callgirl good to hear from you, that Oromorph is good stuff, it eased my pain following an operation, take care.

What a distressing thing to happen Susan just when Henry seemed a bit better, poor mite, hope he is better soon.

Good to hear that you and your husband are better and back at work dizzyblonde

Glad that you are better too Cherry, hope you sleep well tonight.

I'm sure you must feel better dragonfly now that Dexter is on the mend. If he is very hot, you can get cool pads for dogs which may help.

I imagined you as part of The Senior Service Galen - an Admiral on the Bridge directing proceedings. Sending you a?? across the Bristol Channel.

I'm a lot better dear Kitcheners, have taken things very easy this week and rested. I did go for a short stroll about 4pm and will hopefully sleep better for it.
TOYA ?

NanaandGrampy Mon 18-May-20 12:07:15

Morning all in the kitchen !

No excuses for a total failure to keep up here. Life has shrunk to 4 walls and a garden so not much to tell - although Grampy's spectacular fail by pouring cherry juice on his cornflakes this morning by mistake was a high point !!

Sorry to hear about your ex husband Soop and even more sorry for his sons. Such a sad time.

I have to take a Covaid 19 test tomorrow as part of the ONS Survey- there is a 12 page booklet to tell you how to do it :-( , I cant say I'm looking forward to it but if it helps then Im up for it.

Grampy has gone down with gout - so there is no escaping each other at the moment , I have suggested he sit in the garden today as its so nice ( could be a life saver ;-) )

Sorry I am not caught up with everyone but I send you all my good wishes x

soop Mon 18-May-20 12:27:15

Hello my darlings. I haven't much to add since I last visited our kitchen. I feel that my mind has gone into a much slowed-down gear. I'm fearful of the phone ringing. Unable to concentrate on several tasks urging me into action. There will be an update later. My sons are having to be patient. I feel so sad that they cannot visit their father.

Back a little later. x

Grandmafrench Mon 18-May-20 14:10:28

soop dear. Willing someone to live really takes it out of you and ordinary life can feel very surreal. Just be calm and ignore all the mundane things that call to. you. Talk, eat and rest and look at your wonderful views. Enjoy that calm. I feel very sad for your Sons, for anyone who has to struggle with the weirdness of illness and loss in these times. Things will change, though, and we will adapt. Whatever the outcome. In the meantime, everyone here in your Kitchen would send love and hugs and hope. xx flowers flowers

Dreamkeeper Mon 18-May-20 14:19:58

Time I popped my head around the door of my special kitchen, though unalike the majority of you I have so little to share.

But naturally I want to say I am truly thinking of you Soop and well understand how you dread that phone ringing at this time.Little to add really but please know we are all here for you,as you well know.

I can but say much the same to you Susan with the worries you have with your young Henry.Just hoping he will respond well, such a difficult time for you.

Again Callgirl I can well imagine that when taking Oromorph you are desperate to ease the pain.Talk about it never rains but it pours.... what with your son also not recovering as he should. At least with his having a scan it is hopeful his problem will be found and then hopefully treatable.

Keep taking life nice and easy Lins

Loving your long and newsy posts Grandmafrench there were times when I could put pen to paper for hours on end,but nowadays I have slowed down almost to a halt!

Life in this "Penitentionary" continues with us both still residing as shielded and obeying the rules.......at least for now. However my dear man has developed severe toothache over the past few days, so it may well be that he may have to break out and get to a Dental Service. He has been so adamant that he will happily stay put until a vaccine is (hopefully) found, now I rather think he will be forced out into the wider unsafe world, something that truly frightens us both in our conditions.
However,"What must be,will be"

Although we shall soon be talking drought as rain has been absent for such a long time, the weather remains dry and pleasant but also has a slight bite to the breeze, however it seems a heatwave is well on its way........all be it for just a day or so!!!!

Sending best wishes to you all, stay positive and stay safe.

soop Mon 18-May-20 16:12:07

I just wish to thank you all for your kind thoughts. My son had a call from the consultant, which he relayed to me. There is no hope of a recovery. However, the patient is completely unaware and in no pain. His dear wife, who has a form of dementia, cannot understand what's happening. She has full time carers. Her own daughter cannot visit her but sits in her car, in the driveway, and they have a garbled conversation. That is such a sad way to communicate.
Both sons and I are comforted in the knowledge that he is not suffering. They have been advised not to visit. So, MacSporran and I had a very wee dram and the toast was...to the patient and all those who care for him.

Back to my ironing. I most certainly not wish to depress you further. I will return and I look forward to Us lot enjoying each other's company.

Doodle Mon 18-May-20 16:18:20

soop hope you and your sons are coping with this worry about your ex. Not being able to be with any of them is very sad.
susan how is Henry today. I hope he’s perked up a bit.
n&g I’m sorry grampy has gout. That’s painful. He’s not been drinking to much ? has he? Hope the test goes well tomorrow. I gather from the papers it’s not too pleasant.
lins glad to hear you are feeling better. ?
callgirl I remember you mentioning your son had a bad cough before this virus started. Sorry to hear he’s still being troubled by it. Not surprised he’s feeling down. A cough going on that long would wear anyone out. Hope the results of the scan are ok and they can help finding something for the cough. Glad your pain relief has arrived too.
galen funny you should mention HM. I was thinking about your garden and Gary and wondered, whether you used walkie talkies to communicate. I have visions of you being in HM Secret Service (like M in James Bond) using your binoculars and then shouting over the walkie talkie Come in Gary, over ....kill the weed on the right ...(not that you’d have any weeds in your garden. They wouldn’t dare blush)

Doodle Mon 18-May-20 16:20:41

Oh soop I’m so sorry (crossed posts). Sad news indeed but at least, as you say, he is not in pain which is the main thing. Hope your sons are ok. Thinking of you x

Smileless2012 Mon 18-May-20 17:23:07

Missed a few days from the kitchen and wish I hadn't soop as I've just read the sad news about your ex and feel I should have been on sooner to tell you that you and your sons are in my thoughts.

I hope that knowing he isn't in pain and is unaware of what's happening is some comfortflowers.

Poor Henry. What a dreadful thing to have happened Susan do these people simply not understand how life threatening it can be, providing food that isn't dairy free to someone whose intolerantangry.

Thank goodness he's OK and that you now have a supportive GP. Such a stressful and worrying time for you all. It must be much harder for your D with the restrictions lock down imposes.

Perhaps you should put the white water rafting on hold for a while Cherryhmm. That said I don't doubt for one minute that you'd give it a go if you could.

It's good to know that Dexter is so much better dragonfly and will soon be free of that horrible collar.

Goodness, what a relief Lins no wonder you were so worried. Get plenty of rest until you feel fully recoveredflowers.

Hope your nephew is doing OK Purplepixie

My only news is my dog groomer has re opened so our little ones will be going for a professional groom in a couple of weekssmile.

Good to catch up with everyone's news.

Stay safe and take care everyone x

Susan56 Mon 18-May-20 17:53:49

soop, thinking of you and your sons?

callgirl,I am pleased that the oromorph is controlling your pain but sorry to hear your son still has the troubling cough, hoping that the scan eases his anxiety.

Thank you all for your posts about Henry. His skin is much better today and he is nearly back to being happy Henry.

TOYA

cornergran Mon 18-May-20 20:35:27

Thinking of you and your sons soop, look after yourself.

It’s been a funny old day here. Mr C had a truly helpful telephone consultation with his GP this morning. A letter will be sent to a consultant seeking advice, the GP expects an immediate response as the consultant currently has no clinics. I’m pleased for us but so sad for people who aren’t getting the care they need.

The paper has been beaten into submission. Mr C assures me he understands the new improved system. I plan to test him by letting him do the next batch of filing grin.

Good to see you n&g. Snap I’ve also been invited to have a covid test. It’s booked for tomorrow. I’m sure it will be interesting and have no doubt the outcome will be negative. Naughty me hasn’t read the booklet blush.

Time to chill now. TOYA and please take care everyone.

Madgran77 Mon 18-May-20 21:57:27

Soop I am so sorry to hear your news. How painful for you and for your sons flowers

I have missed a few days so haven't been keeping up with news much. Hope everyone is keeping safe and doing whatever helps them to get through this strange time. x

Grandmafrench Mon 18-May-20 22:12:21

Hello and almost goodnight, lovely ladies.

I just wanted to say to Dreamkeeper/Panache, if your DH is suffering a lot of tooth pain which isn't responding to regular painkillers; maybe consider that the pain might be an abscess or infection - and that can be easily fixed with antibiotics. It's possible if you 'phone your Doctor, he can be prescribed something which will sort out the problem. If you cannot see a Dentist very soon/or if you can and it turns out to be an abscess, they don't normally treat the tooth problem until the infection is cleared, so he would only be going out into the wide world for almost no reason (other than an examination). Antibiotics could be prescribed and sent to you if you can explain how long the pain has been there and what he has taken etc.., Just a thought in the hope that he will feel better quickly and won't need to be running off to a Dentist appointment unnecessarily.

Wishing you lots of luck with that, whatever you do.

Glad little H is feeling better again Susan Hope you have a good night's sleep soop - to give you some strength against all the sadness and anxiety you're going through. Sleep well everyone. TOYA xx

Nannytopsy Mon 18-May-20 23:57:55

Good evening everyone.
So glad to hear Henry is recovering now. I hope a substantial flea in the ear was delivered to the deli?
Soop my dear, all your kitcheners are with you at this sad time.
? for everyone with aches, pains or worries.
My new sewing machine has arrived today! Very excited to see it has a needle threader, thank goodness! Now I shall have to sew instead of garden ?
I feel some patchwork coming on, in a few days time.
Sleep tight all you lovelies.
