My tablets are Iasibon soop it is ibandronic acid and the equivalent of zolendronic acid that you have in infusions. I also take Exemestane which does the same job as Letrozole. I didn’t respond to Letrozole.

Nannytopsy Fri 22-May-20 07:57:34

Morning all! You are going to miss Dexter Dragonfly! If the campsites reopen in July as suggested, we may get the granddog for a stay. DD finds campsites will take a camper van or a dog but not many take both.
We shall see!
Have a good day everyone

harrigran Fri 22-May-20 09:05:11

My condolences soop, have not been in the kitchen for days.

Purplepixie Fri 22-May-20 11:26:18

Hi all in this lovely warm and welcoming kitchen.

Sending love and hugs to Soop and all who are suffering, one way or another.

I’m not feeling too good so I am going back to bed. Self inflicted hangover - too much beer last night while watching Bancroft. I dressed up as a cat for the clapathon and it was a laugh. Stay safe and sane and catch up later.

Daisyboots Fri 22-May-20 11:42:23

Good morning all from a warm Portugal where the clouds are now clearing and the sun is out.
With regards to the bone strengthening infusion soop and Dragonfly46 and the side effect of bone pain I think it is because I am on so many painkillers that they mask the bone pain. I never thought I would end up as a druggie in my 70s. grin Still I am now taking less of the very strongest one which is a good sign.

Oh Susan I do love the photo of B eating the strawberries. The look on his lovely little face says it all. I hope Henry has fully recovered from the deli mistake. I hope they have at least apologised.

Hope you feel brighter soon Purplepixie even if it was self inflicted.

Hope everyone has a good day. TOYA

soop Fri 22-May-20 12:28:28

Purplepixie You laughed...a lot. Priceless! The fuzzy head will clear. Take the rest of the day to re-charge your batteries. Plenty of fluids. Preferably water. smile

harrigran Thank you for your kind words. The worst of the trauma is over. The death certificate named Covid pneumonia, hepertension, diabetes, kidney failure and more besides. My ex husband didn't do things by halves! The family is amazed that he survived into his mid- eighties. It's been touch and go for a variety of reasons for a few years.

dragonfly I was unable to have a face to face appointment with the oncologist this time around. All done on the phone. Not the infusion, mind. When I next speak to her, I shall mention the name of your medication. I was told that there was not an alternative. I'm getting used to Letrozole. A few strange side effects but nothing I can't deal with.
Daisyboots I sympathise with you. I take strong painkillers for arthritis and fibromyalgia. However, after the acid infusion I am laid low with joint pain for a couple of days. After which, I bounce back. It's what we do. grin

soop Fri 22-May-20 12:37:54

It's a grey, damp day. The kind neighbours have dropped off our Tesco shop. One of the volunteers in the village has delivered the newspaper and a few items from the local shop. We have so much to be grateful for. Trying to think of a means whereby we can repay their ongoing support. Any ideas?

Dreamkeeper Fri 22-May-20 13:33:07

Am absolutely envious of this talk of walking along the sea side Lins, also those beautiful stunning pictures of both your view and your lovely garden Soop............ both the sea, sounds of the sea and a beautiful garden, they are all just great memories now.
However I am so pleased for you with all the angst you have been coping with.At least you have such stunning vistas with which to sit back and ponder!

As for those sea side scenes of droves of senseless uncaring folk flocking to the beach it is almost unbelievable that our people can be so terribly thoughtless.
Alongside those scenes,up and down the country,in most towns or villages there are dear ones mourning their loved ones, called well before their time.Surely we owe it to them and the many front line people whom have lost their lives simply to, at least, show a modicum of respect.
I have a suspicion those that flocked in camper vans to the beach are the same people whom stand outside every thursday making all forms of noise, supposedly to say thanks to these people whom are risking their own lives....and families.......for us.
Yet these on the front line always say they would much prefer people heeding the National call to social distancing etc.
I really feel some time on the band stand coming on!!!!!

Just to say too, the dastardly deed.......extraction of my man`s said painful tooth took place yesterday,I cannot add that all went well as there were a few dramas, however my dear man has had immediate relief and is happily resting today.
Although totally washed out.
He was very fortunate to have the procedure done by our own dentist in our own Dental Practise. He being the only patient in a well scrubbed room and both dentist and nurse in full PPE,so we felt nice and safe.
However let us simply add we have had better experiences!
Actually nice to even be back in Lockdown and in by now familiar surroundings. It was altogether a very strange experience.

After such a dry spell of weather we expected a decent rainfall overnight but actually only had a light squall,so everything remains looking decidedly parched.
We had one scorcher then yesterday was very pleasant, today though very breezy but yet more sunshine.
We can but hope it will not entice too many holiday makers to head for our beaches but of course here in Wales it has been made extremely obvious no visitors welcomed until after restrictions have been lifted.
Just as well as it would seem we in this corner of Wales are having more positive cases at this point in time,so more than ever we have to be vigilant

Many of you battling with your various problems, and those undergoing chemo and cancer treatments are always dear to my heart.I know it to be such an up and down route but so very worth while gritting your teeth on those rotten days,I can reassure you that there are much better days around the corner. That we all hope for I know during these very weird times.
Please take care and sincerely hoping that despite all these trials sent to make life an issue, may you be able to have a pleasant and peaceful Whit Bank Holiday....and of course feel well.

annodomini Fri 22-May-20 13:36:59

My lovely GD has had a disappointment. Yesterday would have been the day when she and probably several hundred other young people would receive their Duke of Edinburgh gold awards, but Covid has got in the way and they don't know when the ceremony will be rearranged. To compensate, a friend organised a luxury tea party on the deck in the garden. Wish I'd been there! She's now working part-time in a chippy until schools re-open.

Doodle Fri 22-May-20 13:44:11

anno That’s a shame for your DGD but what an achievement. ? hopefully as you say, it will be rearranged when all this coronavirus business is over.

soop Fri 22-May-20 14:41:51

anno The Duke of Edinburgh gold award has been earned by your granddaughter. It will be with her for the rest of her life. She, together with all those who have the ceremony put on hold, will have their day of celebration. The luxury tea party was such a lovely idea.

Dreamkeeper The tooth has been extracted. The relief must be palpable. Tooth pain can make a grown man weep. Mr D will need plenty of TLC for the forseeable. And an extra virtual hug from us lot. wink
As for the droves of selfish folk who believe that they are somehow priviledged to gather regardless, I have no decent comment to make. blush

soop Fri 22-May-20 16:01:32

There is a gale ablowin' and the waves are white-capped.

No gardening today. Instead, I've been preparing to do arty farty stuff.

Do you remember when I told you lot that I had a decent figure many moons ago? Here is a photo taken when I was sweet sixteen. hmm

Away to ride the exercise bike. I shall be listening to 'Ladysmith Black Mamazo' as I pedal to nowhere in particular.

Thinking of you all. I shall be with you again in the morning. Take great care and enjoy a peaceful Friday evening. smile moon

CherryCezzy Fri 22-May-20 16:47:13

As now I'm seriously behind in the goings on with all of you in the kitchen I'm "playing catch-up" but I'm not sure how far I'll get ... ?

dizzyblonde, very very belated thank you for the update on you and your DH. I'm so glad that you have both recovered ?

Lins, I'll keep my eyes out for you from the bay and give you a wave ? if I see you ?.

Oh my goodness Susan what disgusting negligence from the deli, I could say a lot worse but it would be full of expletives ? ?. Poor Henry, it must have been horrible and very worrying for you all. I thought that after the very high profile regarding allergies and the requirements now in place that they would have made sure they followed the request made to them. I'd be taking their incompetence and neglect further so they can never be so irresponsible again!
Wonderful photo of little B, life's too short without strawberries ? so I wouldn't be telling him off ?.

I know you've been having some wobbles Purplepixie so self inflicted overindulgence from the lovely evening you had yesterday evening is allowed. I hope you enjoyed yourself, it sounds like ?. Drink plenty of water and be gentle with yourself.

Sorry that Mr Dream's extraction was not without hiccups Dreamkeeper but when it all settles down at least he'll be without the torture that toothache always is ?.

Well, I know my catch up with you all has been far from comprehensive but you are "all^ in my thoughts, it's just sometimes hard to break through the dratted seizure fog ?. Still, there are worse things than this ?

soop, what about ordering a cream tea or something similar for your neighbours and maybe a pamper basket for the volunteer/s. That's what I'm going to do for our volunteer.

My WP has been rearranging the bedroom today to make it safer for me. I now have a "padded wall"? and the bed is so close to it I'm not likely to fall out ? ?.

'Til next time .. take care TOYA ❤️

CherryCezzy Fri 22-May-20 16:50:16

Wow soop, very shapely indeed, stunning figure ?. What a beautiful photo.

Smileless2012 Fri 22-May-20 17:18:20

Afternoon ladies, a sunny but very windy day here today which is giving our plants a bit of a battering and such a shame because I was thinking about getting on with my scientific research todaygrin.

No worries about frightening the neighbours Doodle as they wont be able to see me. 'Naked cavorting' Grandmafrench; I don't know what you meanshock. I wouldn't dream of such a thing especially as I gave my halo a good polish this morninggrin.

I'll happily provide a pic of two beautiful dogs when they've been groomed in a couple of weeks.

Just one word about that pic of you when you were sweet 16 soop WOW and such an elegant posesmile.

Hope your hangover's gone now Purplepixie. Any chance that someone took a photo of you dressed up as a cat?

Hope Mr. D. has recovered from his tooth extraction Dreamkeeper. The only thing worse than toothache is having the offending tooth removed.

I had an extraction just 2 days before we went to Aus. in January. I had to have it done under anaesthetic as there was no way it would have happened without.

It took ages and I remember at one point feeling some pain, just before they topped up the anaesthetic they told me afterwards, and hearing the drill.

Mr. S. had to be in the waiting room the entire time and said when he heard the drill, he felt quite panicked and wondered what on earth was going on!!

Made the weekly outing to Aldi this morning, always glad when that's out of the way.

Mr. S. has told me he's going to play bowls next weekhmm. I'm pleased for him because he's really been missing it and I know there will be some strict guidelines about social distancing etc but TBH I am rather anxious about it.

It's strange how this lock down affects us isn't it and it makes me wonder what I'll will be like when things 'get back to normal'. As much as I want this lock down to end, I do find it rather comforting if you know what I mean.

Grandmafrench Fri 22-May-20 18:16:32

Hello lovely ladies

Cherry hope you are feeling o.k. A nice little padded playpen is what you need so you can have some sleep without all the injuries.
Smileless I've not checked but I don't think I would have mentioned nakedness.....oh no, bet it was "nudie" stuff. But you may do as you choose - it must be hilarious being your neighbours, except you do need to pay attention to the weather. I'll look forward to smart dog photos.

Dear Mr Panache so pleased his pain is over. An extraction is hardly nice, but he will now get better and not just be in painful limbo and worrying the life out of you Mrs P

Purple sounded like you were a bit of a naughty minx yesterday - suppose cats will be cats, if ours are anything to go by, but they don't get tipsy and then get hangovers. Hope you had loads of fun and it lifted your spirits (no pun intended), but hope that you launched the odd saucepan banging attack on one or two of the locals just in case they were responsible for packing the beaches today. What a bunch of idiots - I can see the UK going backwards at this rate.

Sorry to hear about your GC's Duke of Edinburgh disappointment, AD. Life just keeps being battered by this Virus in all ways. Still, she will have it and will not lose it, so will certainly be able to wait until the appropriate time to recognise her award. Well done, her.

I know that I shall miss Doodle's amusing posting. Hope you have a good weekend, D. I am just about ready for a lie down. The DH returned from a great supermarket bash this afternoon - what with 2 weeks' groceries to get, people to dodge, and everything from honey to compost, he had his work cut out. I did all the cleaning when he got home. I was thrilled beyond everything to find that he had not only managed to find a box of instant yeast, but he'd bought 7. I am now a happy bread maker for the foreseeable!

Very hot still, a long cool G&T has my name on it. Soop what a glamour puss. No wonder you are on that exercise bike trying to recreate your past lithe loveliness. By the way, just loved your darling Chocolate Box cottage/house. It looked like it should be on a postcard for the local tourist board.

Everyone in this kitchen and late to arrive, please continue to keep up those chins (only one each please) and take excellent care. We want to see Kitchen 453 Covid 0 for as long as possible if not forever.

Hugs from French France to you all. x

Charleygirl5 Fri 22-May-20 18:24:49

soop a fabulous photo.

I am no cook but the smell in my kitchen is mouth-watering. Diced beef in my slow cooker with more than a slug of red wine and with luck it wll be an edible casserole.
TOYA

Doodle Fri 22-May-20 19:05:34

grandmafrench why will you miss my posting? Where am I going? ? are they coming to take me away at last. ?. Don’t let them take me please ?
soop wow what a stunner. Very glamorous. Wish I had a figure like that....at any time ?

Susan56 Fri 22-May-20 19:06:25

Stunning photo soop,absolutely gorgeous.

Glad Mr P has had his tooth sorted and is no longer in pain, rest and recuperation now.

Cherry,I feel relieved your WP has made the bedroom safer for you.Hope you are feeling better today.

Another tale of negligence in the story of Henry. You May remember when my daughter was getting no replies to her enquiries with the dietician, well it turns out today the dietician mixed him up with another baby and all advice for Henry was going to another family.A very long and convoluted story. The end result was we ended up going to our daughters house today as she was at a loss as how to proceed and so upset. The baby who the mix up occurred with turned out to be a friend of my daughters so between us all we made a complaint. We have already heard from the Senior dietician who acknowledged the seriousness of what has happened and accepted the consequences for the babies could have been catastrophic. We have requested a new dietician for Henry.Nothing will happen until after the bank holiday but hopefully things will start moving in the right direction.

It has been an upsetting day but turned out well in that we now know why promised letters and referrals never materialised. Also we got to see our precious Henry and Matilda??

After the upset of the dietician’s negligence to cheer us up DH let DGD,aged 4 help me cut his hair???‍♂️DD then joined in,We haven’t done a bad job!

Thinking of you all in this lovely supportive kitchen.Stay safe and stay well everyone.

Doodle Fri 22-May-20 19:06:29

charley I’m on my way over. Keep my plate warm till I get there ?

Smileless2012 Fri 22-May-20 19:45:00

Yes Grandmafrench it was "nudie" stuff grin.

Oh dear Susan it must be very difficult to have faith in those who are supposed to be helping little Henry when such idiotic mistakes are made.

Don't worry Doodle we wont let them take you away.

Have a good evening everyone.

Grandmafrench Fri 22-May-20 20:40:35

susan There. Are. No. Words ! Do sincerely hope that all of you will make sufficient noise that this won't happen again. Since it is to be hoped that all those involved have some small grasp of the English language, you wouldn't think it would take too much just to check that each patient is who you think they are!!!! Or perhaps that's above her pay grade.

Doodle do not panic. Nobody is coming to take you away - sorry to disappoint. I notice that sometimes you post quite late in the evening and I never actually get to comment when often what you write is really droll and you often make me laugh. Now you know that, you definitely won't need to wait to hear what I think......post away, dear lady.

Don't know what to say to you Smileless - at least purple pixie's bad behaviour is limited to a small glass too much and putting clothes ON - a.k.a. getting dressed up as a cat! I think that lockdown might have finally pushed you over the edge and now you are throwing all caution to the wind. Go girl! But do watch out for a change in the weather, or a bit of a draught.......

Hope that the supper was fabulous, charleygirl. Why do people say they can't cook? As long as you can read a recipe and you're really in the mood to make the dish, it almost always turns out fine.

A friend locally has just messaged me to say that he thinks some of the restaurants and bars here may be opening in the first week of June. Missing us and are we coming out to play? I said what I felt and that is we think it's a bit too soon for us to come crawling out of our bunker. Isn't that weird? I miss the old normal terribly, but I'm comfortable here and safe - I'm not looking forward to the new normal and certainly not tempted to start mixing and mingling any time soon. x

Susan56 Fri 22-May-20 21:16:39

Grandmafrench,we will be taking this complaint as high as we have to.

My daughter was sent the other child’s diet advice but in Henry’s name.Had my daughter not had the common sense to realise not to follow the advice the results for Henry would have been very serious.Basically a ‘ladder’ to introduce eggs, one of H’s worst allergens into his diet.Absolutely no way is he to have eggs.

The Senior dietician Phoned as soon as she heard what had happened and was on the phone for an hour. She accepted it was a very serious error. She was horrified as the boys names and the villages they live in have no similarities so just carelessness.I cannot believe the dietician kept mixing them up for nearly two months?

We have asked for a new dietician for H and that steps and training are put in place to ensure this never happens to anyone else.If these requests are not complied with we will put in a formal complaint via PALS.

Thank you for being there for me lovely kitcheners and for letting me vent about Henry’s treatment.I hope that one day the only posts I write about Henry are milestones and funny stories!I appreciate your support, advice and care more than you will ever know.

Doodle Fri 22-May-20 21:23:50

susan just been catching up on your post about Henry. That is really bad. Poor little boy. Thank goodness your daughter spotted the mistake. I hope you get a new dietician sorted out soon and start getting Henry the treatment he needs. Take care.

Doodle Fri 22-May-20 21:34:23

grandmafrench I’m glad I’m not going anywhere. I have a terrible sense of direction and wouldn’t be able to find my way back ?
I don’t think I’ve posted on this thread about DHs recent accident. When getting out of his study chair, he caught his foot in one of the castors and stumbled. Unable to find something solid to hold onto, he grabbed the arm of the chair (a swivel chair ?) which turned into his dance partner swinging him round the room in a graceful slow motion arc until he ended up the other side of the room landing on his back and bottom against the door. Fortunately, apart from a painful back and some considerable discomfort in the sitting down department, he seems ok. Last thing we want at the moment is a trip to hospital so I guess he was lucky. ?
smileless I hope you haven’t burnt your unmentionables ?
