A few years ago I had my oven professionally cleaned then hired number cake tins. Made two big cakes but the tins leaked and filled the gas burner with liquid chocolate
cake. I had to get the engineer out to replace the burner.
Was I pleased?? It’s a good job DH. took the tins back not me or there would have been words!

Galen He used to call on chemical companies. One day he returned home and said - thirty bloody thousand gallons of bloody foam all over the bloody factory floor...what a bloody awful mess. A bit of an understatement.

I echo Doodle's suggestion. Forget about cleaning the oven and crack on with some serious baking. Gary can go to Aldi and buy some.

Galen to clean the base of your oven without much effort- dip half of a dishwasher tablet in water- do not wet it too much- rub that over the affected area and then all you have to do is give it a wipe down because it will have loosened the "bits".

Do I deserve a piece of that gorgeous icecream? Sorry, I do not live close enough to do it!

Good afternoon from a warm sunny Portugal. There is a nice breeze so the patio doors are slightly open. Just need DH to go to the DIY store to get more mosquito screen to repair the one ruined by Archie dog thinking he could go straight through it when a cat appeared in the front garden.

I had my appointment with the palliative care doctor today and now have a plan to reduce my strong painkillers gradually and one drug at a time. So feeling happier about that. I asked them if Portuguese people in general just accept what they are told and not ask questions as I know my oncologist was surprised by my knowledge of and the questions I asked about my treatment. Dr Ana agreed that most patients just accepted what they were told and wouldn't question it at all. I am certainly feeling brighter than I was at this time last week.

morethan I am so pleased you had the procedure rather than have to wait for the other one at a later date. I hope the pain soon goes and it's a success. I am not surprised you cry when you leave your DIL. I think we all would knowing what they are going through. I can understand your DS not wanting his wife in the hospice at the moment but surely his in laws would want the best for their DD under normal circumstances and wouldnt accuse him of abandoning her. I so feel for your DGC too.

I promised DH garlic prawns for dinner so had better start some preparation.

You have really tantalised me Susan on mentioning Broad Haven,that is the one place we have decided to head off to whenever we are set "free",!!!!!
We shall test a few other nearer places first, until "we find our feet" so to speak!
Just learned that although we are now allowed out to exercise lots and meet with one household, keeping to the strict guide lines of course,but there will be no more changes or freedom until at least mid August........no Supermarkets or pharmacies even.
Broad Haven will surely still be there!!!!!

Pleased in hearing you have had this `op to remove this patch on your head,I hope it heals up nice and quickly.
I had to travel some 60 miles since lockdown to undergo what was deemed an urgent case,a growth on my upper chest (I have already had removal of both breasts due to cancer) The `op was carried out there and then and because of its depth, there were 3 lots of stitches.
I was home just an hour or so later.The healing was quite swift, though the removal of the top layer of stitches was the bigger ordeal!
I have only just had the result,a Squamous celled carcinoma.
Although whilst shielding for both myself and husband, I was terrified in risking the visit,but am eternally grateful I went ahead.
You will be the same I feel sure.

Morning from a damp and drippy Shire. The plants outside are uplifted with their rainwater, as, unfortunately, are the weeds. I made carrot seed tapes last night and am hoping to get this second lot put in today or tomorrow.

soop the Albatross picture is finished. Not up to your wonderful standard but its a first attempt and painting is on my bucket list of things to do whilst I still can. Penguins next and that will have to do for reminiscing about a wonderful time spent in Antarctica some years ago.

panache wonderful to hear from you as ever. kitty I hope the course goes well. I think such courses are a boon to those with little knowledge of Alzheimers, or how to find their way around "the system." morethan - still in my thoughts. Goodness, a temporary surge of the memory bank there. Painting must be good for the brain.

Morning all !

Its another wet and windy day here . I frittered yesterday away on sweet Fanny Adams as my Gran used to say :-) and I'm not even sorry lol

Cake looks fab Galen . Sam was 7 yrs old yesterday and I made banana and peanut butter pupcakes for him to celebrate- lets just say they were solid !! I put one out and even the fat pigeons couldn't get through one !!

Morethan glad the mini op went well and quickly and that the Marie Curie Nurses are suggesting something to help your DiL . As if her illness were not bad enough its heart-breaking that the virus throws up more and more issues for them when they should be just be receiving the best help and care.

Puts things into perspective for me.

I've had a few days where Ive been feeling sorry for myself but I've gotten over that now!!

Been busy making masks for the family for going out , Ill post a couple of pictures :-) and some medals for the children as they like to 'win' things !!

The news about Covid19 in the North West is not good. Our little town is just outside Greater Manchester and I won't be extending my activities any further for quite some time.

Dreamkeeper I am glad your latest op went well and has now healed. You and susan mentioning Broad Haven made me Google it. What a beautiful area it is. If we ever get to England after this I think a holiday in Wales would be a lovely extra to our trip. It was interesting to see it was mentioned that it is out of bounds at the moment.

Nanaandgrampy I like the masks and the patterns. I ordered one with motorbikes on for my husband from a craft shop here and he wears that although he was very reluctant to wear the ones from the chemist. Love the medals too. When I managed to get upstairs last week I found a box of assorted sizes of elastic which I must have bought from the centre aisle at Lidl at some time. Surprising what you see and buy from there because it may be handy.

N&G When your lovely grandchildren receive something specially created for them, by you, they will leap for joy. What a lovely grandma they have.

The sun has been shining throughout the afternoon. It's still windy and wild-ish. We can hear the shingle being shifted by the waves on the beach. A soothing sound.
