Good Morning MAY DAY

Hello Rufus, how you doin down under
Megs G'Day and thanks for your greeting.
Doing very well; just washing down my dinner of lamb's fry (liver to you!) and bacon with a drop of Cab-Sav. It's at room -temp. which means it's quite cool given our present weather; horrible, wet, windy, only 12C. Some days the C/H temp. reads normal, but as the TV weather presenters say "feels like 5C lower:"!
Keep thinking of your Zoom family roast! Mouth-watering!
We (3 of us at the moment!) have managed to form a Group with a host and 2 clients, me and Steve; this in lieu of the current closure of our OAP comp. school!
As I've posted elsewhere, Nurse Jacqui has discharged me from the home visit outpatient prog. as being mended! sad
This working "at home" thing must feel odd to participants; wouldn't suit me; too many distractions! Nothing like being "at work" and socialising, but there again, we are all different.
Now that Jacqui has gone I had to phone my home care Co.. to re-arrange future visits and found myself talking to the co-ordinator working at home She had to put me on hold while she had to break off to attend to her littlie; I couldn't help asking what did she prefer, not having her boss breathing down her neck, or someone dribbling down her front! Her reply was cautious because all calls are recorded. grin
Enough of that! I hope you and your family are keeping as well as can be expected in the circumstances and look forward to chatting again given that the "naughty stool" appears to have been given the chop! grin
Good Health

but the feeling of power was great
Elegran Lovely snap! And you haven't lost that (loving?) feeling with me and Grandad to boss around! grin
Someone forgot to tell the lads to smile or did they resent being press-ganged!?
Good Health to you All

Me on 1st May 1947, Queen of the May at the school pageant. The two small boys were detailed to carry my train, so I made them trail around after me all afternon. I think it should have just been for the procession, but the feeling of power was great.

“The fair maid who, the first of May,
Goes to the fields at break of day
And bathes in dew from the hawthorn tree,
Will ever after handsome be.”

As one who’s tried this I can report that it doesn’t work.

I've never heard of half of those sayings, only 'white rabbits'. Maypoles? Yes, seen on TV. Nothing else.
There used to be processions with decorated lorries and flatbed trucks and troupes of dancers waving huge tissue-paper pom-poms in each hand, bands and the roads lined with spectators.
A May Queen would be sitting on a throne with attendants either side, all dressed in fine gowns and robes with flower headdresses and the May Queen wearing a glittering crown.
All gone now. ?
It used to be a real spectacle and my dad used to hoist me onto his shoulders to get the best view.

It's a public holiday here in France as well Urmstongran normally we would be going to a huge fete held every year which takes over a whole village. Maybe next year. We would also be buying sprigs of Lily of the Valley to give to friends and neighbours.

I had already posted this on the Good Morning thread.
It’s a public holiday today in Spain - Labour Day - or Workers Day.

Happy International Workers Day

DH always says “white rabbits” before anything else on the first. All very English...
This year? No maypoles, no joyous welcome of he spring, no singing at dawn by the choir at .magdalen college Oxford...
Instead, we have reasonable weather, gratitude for our health, jobs and families!

According to Spike Milligan ; ' Hurray, hurray the 1st of May. Outdoor sex begins today!' Bit cold where I am, I shall however go out and bring a green bough in later.
