Too many slides - I'm losing the plot with so many graphs.

And where is Bozzer?

Riverwalk Tue 05-May-20 17:19:59

Interesting first question from Fred, about inequalities in society.

grandMattie Tue 05-May-20 17:20:27

BoJo is busy recovering... too many slide, far too much repetition of questions, too much waffle and non-answers!

elfies Tue 05-May-20 17:40:28

Why should Bojo be allowed so long to recover , Nurses and doctors are expected to return to work almost immediately

Parsley3 Tue 05-May-20 17:41:43

We did learn that we have the highest death rate in Europe though.

phoenix Tue 05-May-20 17:53:53

"Next slide, please" why can't they do their own?

Mapleleaf Tue 05-May-20 18:09:01

Where's your evidence for that, elfies. I would think anyone who has been severely afflicted by covid19 and needed intensive care will not be back at work almost immediately, whereas people with only minor symptoms, once completing the self isolation requirement, will be well enough sooner.

I find the graphs informative.

Washerwoman Tue 05-May-20 18:11:58

Sorry Effies where is the evidence nurses are expected back immediately? That isn't the case where DD works. The managers and colleagues have been fantastically supportive and understanding.

SalsaQueen Tue 05-May-20 18:19:51

It's the same "news" each day, just with different figures. I believe Boris is due to speak in Thursday.

SalsaQueen Tue 05-May-20 18:20:02

ON Thursday

Jane10 Tue 05-May-20 20:46:03

I particularly like the charts. Saying 'next slide please' is pretty standard if the speaker is not doing the IT. As its BBC it'll be one of their technicians supervising what goes on any particular screen.

NanaandGrampy Tue 05-May-20 23:10:16

It do we Parsley ?

Cut the date a different way as in deaths per 1000 population and we don’t have the highest death rate per capita - Belgium do !

At this stage it’s just lies, lies and damn statistics .

NanaandGrampy Tue 05-May-20 23:11:00

Bloody predictive text lol

That should read - but do we?

MawB Tue 05-May-20 23:17:49

I think that if hearing “next slide please” is the worst people have to complain about, we must all be on the road to recovery hmm
Remember slide shows though when the speaker used to bang on the floor with a cue or “cough” to indicate they wanted the next slide ? And the times it would be upside down or the wrong one? Happy days!
(Personally I find the graphs useful)

Callistemon Tue 05-May-20 23:37:28

No we don't Parsley.

As NanaAndGrampy explained, the per capita rate is not the highest in Europe.

Belgium followed by Spain and Italy then the UK.
I do hope the rate will plummet now.

These are not just statistics, they are people.

Callistemon Tue 05-May-20 23:41:42

elfie it could take at least six weeks, possibly months, to recover from the virus if a person has been ill enough to be admitted to intensive care.

Others may show no symptoms at all.

Which nurses and doctors are being forced back to work almost immediately?
That would spread the virus even more.

That is a scandal if true.
Do you have evidence?

Katek Wed 06-May-20 00:08:43

Isn’t BJ on paternity leave.....sort of??

Callistemon Wed 06-May-20 00:11:41

No

paddyanne Wed 06-May-20 00:17:15

whether its the highest number in Europe or not the total number is a disgrace...the government had sufficient warning to make sure these figures didn't happen..dithering ,taking time off for "personal reasons" lying about supplies ..not exactly how they should have handled it.Of course the tory apologists will jump to their defence...try defending them to the families who needn't have lost loved ones .The liars should all face criminal charges for hoe they (didn't) deal with this

There is an option to graphics , go to National Office of Statistics website in COVD-119 area .
There is an area , where it breaks down the deaths figure to you local postcodes.
