I agree Gingster.Seeing the family will be enough for me too.
Should we pay kids to go to school?
Reform UK’s Richard Tice allegedly failed to pay £100,000 in corporation tax
Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dry and bright start here this morning in Brackley .
The forecast is supposed to be changing with colder weather , but OK so far.
Got my usual Chinese last night , and will await today to see what Bee Jay says later as to lockdown becoming Lockstep .
Watch TV etc with a small shop , noticed my electric use is creeping up since lockdown.
Take Care
Mick
I agree Gingster.Seeing the family will be enough for me too.
Good morning from the Shropshire borders.A chilly and breezy start today.
There are a couple of my mothers neighbours being visited by family everyday. She thinks this means we should be visiting her and can’t/won’t understand that it’s them breaking the rules not us.She lives 50 miles away so we can’t even go and stand in her garden to talk to her.She is furious with us?
We are hoping to finish the paintwork in the bedroom today so we will be ready for when the carpet can eventually be fitted. Not sure when the carpet will be fitted or the furniture will be delivered, until then we have a beautifully decorated empty room!
Hope Cherry had a good night.x
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Well it’s a nice good morning so far, here on the Suffolk coast. I expected to get up to a stiff breeze and temperature drop, but I think that’s due later this afternoon. What can I cover my young dwarf beans up with for tonight’s cold snap. .? I haven’t got any fleece so would newspaper do? Not much good if it rains and is windy though!
Going for a walk to see the bluebells before they completely go over. They’ve been glorious this year.
Roast chicken tonight. Our DS and DIL arranged delivery of 3 meals from one of these
Companies that send you all the fresh ingredients and you cook it yourself. Had the last one yesterday. All very nice and fun to do but I think it’s very expensive. I’ve kept the recipe cards and will get the ingredients myself.
Hope you all have a restful and gentle day. I’m not looking forward to lockdown being eased. I’ve enjoyed the peace and easy way of life. Can’t bear the thought of crowds, manic roads, and the frantic way life was going. Just getting together with family will be good enough for me.
Happy Birthday to your husband * GrannySomerset* ?
Good Morning Mick and all from a partly sunny, partly cloudy S Welsh coast. It is still warm though. Further west there were thunderstorms last night.
kitty our neighbours have had their eighty year old mother visiting and going in and out of their front door throughout lockdown. Her daughter works for the NHS and her parents in law are retired GP's. It makes me despair, We went for a walk on Saturday evening and saw an acquaintance sitting alongside his neighbours in their front garden, all are in their 70's. He called out asking where my DH was - I replied that he was at home observing the rules, the irony was entirely lost on him.
Personally I do not think that there should be any changes to lockdown. In Wales garden centres and libraries are open from tomorrow, how are these essential journeys? Too early, too soon.
In our cul de sac the younger neighbours are obeying the rules and the ones in their 70's and 80's are definitely not.
A Happy Mother's Day to those overseas.
Thinking of all who are struggling for whatever reason ?
Stay safe everyone.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Today is DH’s 85th birthday and have just taken him tea, pills and some cards. Not really much of a celebration for him though I am sure we will talk to the children at some point, and we will have his traditional birthday supper of fillet steak and raspberries with a slightly better glass of red to mark the occasion. As he gets frailer it gets harder to energise him and he so badly needs some input from someone other than me, and the current restricted life is not ideal.
Lovely morning here in North Somerset though not forecast to last so we must make the most of it. Hope everyone has the best day they can with particular thoughts for Gillybob who deserves so much better from life.
Sorry ‘freeze’ should have been ‘breeze’; no ice age in sight yet
Good morning from east London, bright, cloudy with a bit of a freeze. Temperature seems ok too, but doubt if it’ll be breakfast in the garden again. Felt really chuffed yesterday after submitting my video for my Choir’s project; miles out of my comfort zone but what a buzz I got. Long walk yesterday, over the River Lea to touch on the Olympic park then back along the canal. Just at the start on a small meadow, 2 police vehicles were going backwards and forwards with their blue lights on but not a clue what they were doing as they weren’t moving people on. May bake a cake today, there’s some blueberries need using up, and trying hard to second guess what Boris will be saying tonight. Have a good day.
Good Morning All x
Bright and breezy here by the sea but doesn't look too promising as clouds gather. Much cooler.
PC was so temperamental yesterday and was cutting off saying that I wasn't connected when I was. Why the ISP doesn't send a message admitting it's them I don't know. They're probably running on a reduced team as that what it says on their bills.
Because it was so nice and warm yesterday I sat outside and relaxed after I'd shopped first thing. At last I had cash to spend at the butcher and greengrocer so lamb today, my favourite. D had been to the bank for me on Friday after I rang her.
I don't like bothering her because she's got enough to do and if I'd have had cash I'd have got a taxi there as I wasn't going to go on the bus---no public transport for me, that's where the germs are ! Anyway, I've got enough to see me through now and stocked up from the butcher with some nice sirloin steaks etc.
I'm sort of getting used to the " scrappy " shopping, going from one to the other but it's not the same as getting everything under one roof ! Can't have everything for the time being.
Hope the pc behaves itself today or I'll have to do some housework
.
Spoke to GS on the phone, he was thrilled to have received a bonus from work for being a front-line worker in the food industry, he hasn't stopped. A good thing when many won't have jobs. I was pleased for him. He's in food preparation for Morrisons and M&S. Well done to them for their appreciation of its workers.
Hope everyone's day goes well, there's nothing more to add other than stay safe. xx
Good Morning to all from a dull, windy and cold Fife, however as expected so will just plod on for today. It is so strange getting up to this kind of weather however the gardens are in much need of some watering. Happy Mother's Day Bellasanna - enjoy! Think we may all find today a wee bit longer than usual because of the weather but I'm sure we shall just get on with things as usual. I will change my routine slightly today and just take things at an even slower pace than of late if that's possible
. Missing my family so much, I know we all are so giving virtual cuddles and flowers to all us Grans
. Take care.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. What a difference a day makes - torrential rain last night and cold and windy this morning. I think our walk is off today; I may be coming down with a cold (or something!) so a quiet day in prospect. I’ll crack on with the knitting project that I have recently reacquainted myself with; it might be finished by the time they lift the lockdown! Who knows? Don't hold your breath though! I made a curry yesterday which we will eat this evening. Have a good safe day folks.
Morning all from a grey North Leicestershire. It poured with rain overnight presumably because I watered yesterday!!
We had someone come and look at changing our front garden. We currently have pots on granite chips but there is a lot of maintenance involved so we are hoping to have low maintenance beds. She will also do hedge cutting and ad hoc bits too.
On our walk yesterday we passed a neighbours house and saw her showing her elderly parents out of the front door. Why? And, shes a midwife!
Stay safe everyone!
Good morning to you all. And Happy Mother’s Day to Bellasnana.
It’s cloudy and cooler in Worcs after quite a hot one yesterday. We drove to DD1’s and she put chairs on her drive so we could talk for 15 mins. She lives less than 2 miles from us and DH walked home for his exercise.
Starting to think about pots of summer flowers now the daffs and tulips have gone over - shall look online to find somewhere that will deliver.
Make the best day you can everyone and stay safe ?
Good morning all from a cool and very breezy Glasgow.
Nothing planned today, online church, read the papers and water my seedlings, such an exciting life.
I find it difficult to sit still, but I have had a really bad night, so I'm having a guilt free rest day!
DD dropped some shopping off and a present of rocket and lettuce seeds yesterday. She is a star, she always puts a wee extra in the bag as a treat.
I already had some sown, but I knocked over the trays and the seeds went everywhere, ?so having to start all over again. ? Oh well it keeps me busy.
Bellasnana, I'm so glad to see you posting again, we have had some lovely holidays in Malta. Happy Mother's Day
Best wishes to Gilly and Dragonfly. Hoping that Cherry has had a good night and all those with troubles are OK.
Forgive me, I know someone has a broken wrist, but I can't remember which Granny and jacq1o, fingers crossed you are both in less pain. ?.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from the NE where it is grey and drizzling.
Spent some time reading in the garden yesterday and counted at least five planes flying overhead, DH checked his flight app and he said they were mostly Amsterdam to America, give me strength ?
Caught up with VE day TV programmes, some interesting stories and the music was nice.
DD is probably returning to work tomorrow, not mandatory but as she can walk to the office and everyone has a room with a door she thinks it will be ok.
Duck breasts and stir fried vegetables for lunch.
Take care and stay safe.
Good Morning.
Nice morning so far but changing later.
Lazy day for us, roast chicken for lunch, walk, see what Boris has to say later.
Best wishes to all
Just been reading that the new slogan (in green, not the red ‘alert’) is to be:
Stay Alert > Control the Virus > Save Lives
Good morning all from Inverness. The good weather has definitely gone and it’s turned cloudy and much cooler.
Yesterday I had a lovely long walk from home, the usual circular circuit through the woods but I wandered off the path a bit and explored some new areas. It’s always a bit of an adventure for me as when I see a path going somewhere I always want to follow it to see where it goes !
Welcome to givemestrength and hope you enjoy this thread.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone and special thoughts with those with worries and struggles.
Take care all and keep smiling ??
Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Pale blue/hazy grey sky this morning in Suffolk and cooler. I did an impressive job on our patio yesterday with the pressure washer, then sat on our drive with drinks in the evening sunshine. We finally got to meet some of the neighbours! Family quiz finished off the evening so a good day. Today, very little planned.
Hope everyone is well and safe today.
Good morning everyone from sunny Torbay, doggy walk this morning and possibly pottering in the garden if it stays fine. I have missed our Gransnet Meet-ups since lock down and look forward to them starting again whenever that may be!
Hope everyone has a good day.
Morning All
High grey cloudiness here in the north of Norfolk. There's little zephyrs moving the trees every now and again and the wind vane has gone round to the north. We're expecting your weather later this morning Gilly.
I think Australia celebrated Mother's Day yesterday? Looks like the UK is out of step. ('Du diffrunt' is the Norfolk motto!) Happy Mother's Day, Rest of the World!
Good morning Mick and all to follow . It’s cold, dark and wet here in the NE coast today.
Happy mother’s days to those celebrating today
Stay safe and sane everyone.
Love Gillybob x
Good morning from a cooler West Berkshire today .
I shall be potting up a few more of my veggie seeds today and tending to the ones that are already on the go . It is a bit of a novelty at the moment and I’m quite enjoying it in small doses , but I can’t imagine it will be an enduring hobby once real life returns . I don’t have the patience to wait for weeks and months....
Stay home > protect the NHS > Save lives .
Still being ignored by many for reasons best known to them .
Forgot to mention that last evening, while getting a chicken to roast tonight, we actually found some bread mix. The first time in 8 weeks! Yay!!! ?
