The BBC understands that the changes in the guidelines will mean two people from different households would be able to meet while sitting more than two metres apart in a park.

I don’t understand because that it is not what I thought BJ said.

I think perhaps the Beeb has had a sneaky peek at the detailed documents to be released tomorrow.

I do not think there was any mention of socialising with one’s family That would suggest popping round to Grandma’s for Sunday lunch which is still a definite no-no!

Looking at Lisa’s link of the speech in full I couldn’t see anything about meeting family.

Just - “You can sit in the sun in your local park, you can drive to other destinations, you can even play sports but only with members of your own household.”

Hospitals had their maintenance teams working overtime to put in extra isolation measures and NHs let theirs all go.

...I must have missed that bit. Another problem for police because it's a bit ambiguous .

Not sure why the first schoolchildren to return will be the little ones, I would have expected secondary school age to be more sensible re social distancing etc., but I presume it’s because the youngsters need childcare.

Also to those who keep on about how it all relates to family, it was households he was talking about, exercising together. Don’t think families were mentioned were they?

the ones who do maintenance work in nursing homes where stopped which I thought was bazarre. They had already been there up to that point and if they had been allowed to stay they could have put in room dividers etc to make it safe for isolating residents but the NH managers let them go (and then blamed the government for not being able to manage).

I feel that the whole of the U.K. should be using the same approach and that BJ has been pressurised to relax the rules prematurely.

The interview Nicola Sturgeon gave immediately after listening to BJ was far more impressive.

As I have said on here before, having different rules in the different countries which make up this nation makes as much sense as having a peeing section in a swimming pool!

the tradespeople I know have all worked throughout. They just switched from domestic to commercial but still did some emergency domestic.

It wasnt the same work but they still worked. Just going to sites rather than peoples houses.

they can now do the domestic work again if they can do it safely with distancing etc.

I think some are under the impression that a lot of people are working when they are not. Someone said the construction workers have always been at work. Not true. My relatives in construction have been on lockdown from the start. Sometimes too it is not just about social distancing but that the companies who supply materials had shut down. Blinko
it is only family in your own household that can drive out together and not you driving out to see other family members from other households.

Sorry if I'm being dim,but what if your family doesn't live in your household? Can we still drive some distance to see them?

I expect all will become clear in the next few days as the bones are picked over and analyzed.

Totally agree lemon grove. It’s about taking responsibility for yourself.

If we want to be treated as grown ups, then the situation is this: there is no vaccine ( and won’t be for a long time) but careful management means the NHS can cope with us in hospital if we are ill but nothing can guarantee that we won’t actually die.If we are old, and especially if we have any underlying health conditions, then we need to take extra care.
That means getting shopping delivered to us, staying home as much as possible and maintaining distancing with family and friends and neighbours.Getting some fresh air and exercise by gardening, or taking a walk when we feel we need to or cycling.As we are grown ups, that also means making sensible decisions on our own behalf.
The only people who don’t understand all this are the selfish, the dim and the arrogant.

No I don’t think you missed anything Maw B I agree with you . telling people they can go out more be it supposedly for excise will just have young people roaming around ... the do and can’t do,s are just not clear or strongly worded enough in my opinion.
