Well, whaddya think?

I thought he came across very well. No long words. No faffing. Plain and simple.

Summerlove Fri 15-May-20 15:15:41

It’s remarks like yours about massive shortages to come that set off such shortages
Are we not allowed to mention what we have been unable to buy in stores that? In case it terrifies other people?

I have been making my own bread for ages. Should I now start buying it so that other people don’t get upset?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 15-May-20 15:32:57

summer ??? calender is now on another thread talking about shortages. You have to grin.

Firecracker123 Fri 15-May-20 15:35:13

Lucca Fri 15-May-20 15:38:51

Not being a teenager ...no.

Lucca Fri 15-May-20 15:40:36

No response to anything else in my post?

Firecracker123 Fri 15-May-20 15:40:51

Lol

Lucca Fri 15-May-20 15:42:54

Lol about schools returning ? Lol about different rules in Scotland etc ?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 15-May-20 15:49:29

WWMK2 a 41p mask is about as much use as a tissue, I know this as part of our business is protective clothing and masks.

Firecracker123 Fri 15-May-20 15:59:10

I'm not interested in Scotland, Sturgeon would say black was white rather than agree with Boris.

Teachers in my opinion should do their job and get back to school and teach their pupils. Supermarket staff went in day in day out serving thousands of different shoppers you never heard them complain. Doctors. nurses, care workers, delivery men etc carried on. It's just the unions trying to cause problems for the government. Children need to get back to school.

Serendipity22 Fri 15-May-20 16:34:15

Absolutely hear hear Firecracker123

Across the road on the school field there are children out playing every day, because guess what schools have NEVER closed. They have been looking after the children of NHS and key workers and trying to keep them as safe as possible. But lets introduce more children and see if the virus spreads a bit more because if there is something all these parents deserve it is another worry to add to those they already carry.

Elegran Fri 15-May-20 16:54:24

How many customers went to the supermarket staff for a cuddle because they didn't feel well? How many couldn't blow their own noses or fasten the zips on their fleeces? How many brought their shopping lists to shove under the checkout girl's nose for her to correct, and talked into her face as she did so? How many passengers did the driver have to lift onto the bus, and remind to stay in their seat and not lean over the back to talk to other passengers from a foot away? How many delivery drivers are surrounded by fifteen customers at once all asking about their (very important) parcels which are overdue by a couple of months?

I am sure other posters can think of several other ways in which school is not a supermarket or a bus or a delivery system..

Checkout, transport and delivery staff have all done a wonderful job keeping the country supplied with essentials (and non-essentials!) and getting to essential places, but you can't directly compare apples and potatoes. Each job has its own hazards.

Elegran Fri 15-May-20 16:59:00

Children need a school to go back to, with healthy teachers to teach them. If the virus whips through the staffroom so that there are no teachers left, NONE of the pupils will be able to attend, including the children of key workers. The return needs careful management - and head teachers all over the country are saying this.

Elegran Fri 15-May-20 17:01:33

" . . school is not a supermarket or a bus or a delivery system.." and not even a hospital, with patients immobilised in separate beds.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 15-May-20 17:09:43

Re masks .
gg13 do you have a recommendation?

MayBee70 Fri 15-May-20 17:17:37

All of our local schools have had the children of key workers playing outside as much as possible. Thankfully the weather has been good and it will have made it much safer for both staff and children. But I dread to think what will happen with more children in schools having to stay inside more.

Greeneyedgirl Fri 15-May-20 17:37:36

The R rate released today has gone up. Are we set for another lockdown when the easing off in England has only just commenced? Have we not been alert ? enough....

Watch this space I say.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 15-May-20 17:45:24

P3V are what our staff are using WWMK2

GrannyGravy13 Fri 15-May-20 17:55:03

Sorry posted prematurely, that is the technical description, many manufacturers make masks that comply to that standard.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 15-May-20 17:59:17

Right so I look for a mask that is PV3 standard? What does that mean?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 15-May-20 18:00:37

Three layers!!? should have been obvious!

Calendargirl Fri 15-May-20 18:26:07

Just to clarify Summerlove

You say Are we not allowed to mention what we have been unable to buy in store in case it terrifies people?

Yes, of course you are. It was WWM2’s Be ready for more massive levels of shortages that I objected to.

Such remarks are not helpful, and are nothing to do with people posting that flour, brown sugar, condensed milk etc are in short supply, which I commented on in another thread.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 15-May-20 18:34:38

WWMK2 the V stands for vaulted so it should fit better and have a plastic valve so that the moisture doesn't build up and render the protection level useless.

You are better off enquiring at builders merchants or safety wear companies than on line as there have been multiple rogue companies/suppliers suddenly popping up online.

Lucca Fri 15-May-20 18:55:10

Firecracker and serendipity. Teachers have been doing their job and teaching, some in school and the rest WFH, and as many will tell you, harder than ever.
So children need to get back to school even if there is a serious risk to their health and that of their teachers.? There is absolutely no definitive proof that children are not affected seriously by the virus. Ideas please about how small children can get through a school day 2metres away from other people.
This is all just slogans and sound bites “get back to school “ (like “ get brexit done “). How. Though ?.

Summerlove Fri 15-May-20 19:33:45

Such remarks are not helpful, and are nothing to do with people posting that flour, brown sugar, condensed milk etc are in short supply, which I commented on in another thread.

Not everyone is reading the other thread where you posted that.

You also posted here after she said she was having trouble sorting certain items.

The fact of the matter is there have been shortages, and that is going to continue. They might not be the same shortages in every place, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t going to exist and people shouldn’t plan for it.

That’s not causing panic, that’s being sensible
