Good Morning Everyone,
Yet another clear blue sky start to the day this morning, no sign of any frost around this way.
Today, usual shop for essentials , one thing with the lockdown, I do not know about others but I have the odd snacks ,and my weight goes up .
My hair trimmer arrived it does not due much, so looked at others online and no stock , so there maybe containers coming in with items from where they make them ,as the demand for grooming hair at home as grown.
take care
Mick

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a cold and grey start to Friday . My little Friday girl is so desperate to make an appearance but I think she understands things aren’t quite right .

Wonderful news about your new “lockdown baby” Scentia I think there might be quite a few of those smile

I slept a little better last night although I dunno why. Nothing’s changed much. Those of us being treat very badly by Barclays did get a little mention on Martin Lewis’s money program last night so fingers crossed they get their act together soon. My DH got a letter from Imperial College London yesterday asking if he would be prepared to take a CV test which has sent my son’s conspiracy theory's into overdrive. He remains convinced that my DH had the CV at the end of last year but they didn’t understand what it was then. hmm

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible .
Love

Good morning all from a beautiful Suffolk coast. Makes you glad to be alive.

We clapped last night with 2 neighbours - there are t many of us here. Followed by a couple of glasses of wine in neighbours garden. A bit chilly but we so enjoyed it.

Talking of crows Ginny42 - we were having our dinner last evening, when there was a sharp rapping on the kitchen window and it was the big old crow trying to
to get in. Frightened the life out of us. He also has pecked at our neighbours car wing mirrors. Apparently they are attracted to the rubber or glue surround. Horrid thing!

We should have been going to a wedding today. A young lady who I looked after along with her two brothers, . Her mother had died when she was 6 and dad had to go back to work, so I was a surrogate mum for 10 years. The first week I was with them I went home and told my husband ‘ I’ll give it 6 weeks and then I’m off’ . They were so badly behaved. They are the most wonderful people now and I’m so proud of especially Caroline. She has postponed her wedding until December and she’s asked me to be her witness. Watery eyes!

Have a lovely sunny day everyone. ?

Lovely day here, but chilly. Going to walk to the allotment and weed and water. It's a mile there so walking both ways will fulfill my daily exercise quota. Lovely news Scentia, something to look forward to. Hope Gillybob finally gets help from Barclays. Have a good day everyone.

SusieB50 Fri 15-May-20 08:10:51

Good morning from East London , just woken up to what looks to be a sunny day . I hope it’s warmer. I plan to put up the climbing bean sticks . I will need to stand on some steps to reach to tie them! I’m meeting my daughter in the local park today for a walk which will be lovely .

GrannySomerset Fri 15-May-20 08:10:22

Psyching myself up for my weekly treat of a trip round Tesco; never thought it would be something to look forward to.

After our clap for carers session we played neighbourhood bingo outside, suitably distanced. Surprisingly good fun, especially as the winner was the most cerebral person in the road. I have promised not to tell her children!

Good morning all from a cool and cloudy Glasgow. Dithering about whether to put the washing out or not.
That's probably the only important decision I will make today!

Mick that's a shame your trimmers didn't live up to your expectation. I'm awaiting a hair trimmer from the long river company for DH, (terrified to try it), along with an oximeter, recommended on here.
I thinned my very thick hair and fringe yesterday. I was surprised to experience no disasters, apart from a sliced thumb! I hadn't realised thinning scissors were so sharp! Ouch! ?
It looks OK and DD noticed it did look thinner.

I want to thank all those on GN, who made my birthday very special with their good wishes and participation in the virtual school birthday bash, started by Pantglas.
It was probably one of the best birthdays, I have ever had.
Who would have believed it, given the circumstances?
What was amusing, was that every single person included a bottle of non-alcoholic fizz in my gifts, knowing that I can no longer have alcohol!

I haven't seen one of my sons for seven weeks, as he and his fiancée are chronic asthmatics and were self isolating, working from home.
I couldn't believe it when they arrived in my back garden last night. I'm afraid there were a lot of tears yesterday, but tears of joy for a change! blush
My future DIL's mum and sister have been working in ICU with Covid patients so it has been an extremely stressful time for all of them.
Number 2 son looks like an extra from Braveheat, his bright red hair and beard need cut. His hair seems to have reverted back to the carrot red of his youth!
My other son organised a family video chat yesterday morning and DH had a terrible time, stopping me from Elder son has the blackest hair and beard and it looked so odd, seeing one red headed brother and one very dark haired in the video.

A very gentle day for us and we have a Tesco delivery, what exciting lives we live!
DH was saying he would even look forward to hospital visit in the rush hour, if it meant we could legitimitely get out of here!

Norsat, chicken and chorizo is on my menu for next week, not had it for ages.
So glad to see Dragonfly posting again, but missing Auntieflo.
Hoping to hear better news from Susan and Gilly.

I'm going to welcome any newcomers in advance and wish those with a birthday, a very happy day.
I have things to catch on and may not be back for a while.

Take care all.

HollyMolly
Not yet, we can meet up with one other person out in public, not even in their garden. I called my MP and said my DD always comes with a 1 year old attached and she said that’s ok as long as we stay 2m apart. No huddles, no playing with GC at the moment.

Puzzler61 Fri 15-May-20 08:03:20

Hi HollyMolly. You can drive yes.
You can’t go in their house.
One adult can meet one adult or child, in an outside space like a park but must stay 2 metres apart.
You can’t travel or sit in a car with an adult or child from another household aside from your own.
You cannot stay overnight in a place that is not your home.

Have I missed anything gn’ers?

Gelisajams Fri 15-May-20 08:01:28

Good morning from a sunny Morecambe Bay. I assume it’s cold out as the heating is on again. Must alter the settings as it’s not necessary as the sun quickly warms things up.
Congratulations on your lovely news Scentia
I’m off later to meet someone who is organising volunteer gardeners to take responsibility for an area in the church grounds. I have been wondering about doing this for some time but was afraid of standing on someone’s toes or causing offence by offering.
Then this afternoon we are off to a 100th birthday celebration. It won’t be quite what was intended but cake and Prosecco is planned, all from a safe distance!
Take care and stay safe everyone.?and special ?for Gilly

HollyMolly Fri 15-May-20 07:59:03

Does anyone know whether we can drive to our children's house to visit the grandchildren? In their house, garden or park?

Puzzler61 Fri 15-May-20 07:55:35

Good morning Mick and All. Very sunny in Worcs and birdsong is in the air.
Haven’t heard a cuckoo yet - has anyone?
I wish windowcleaner would come as bedroom windows are grimy outside but I won’t let DH go up a ladder to clean them.
Local recycling yard has re-opened, also garden centre and chip shop so it seems a bit of normality is slowly returning.
Fish and chips and a glass of wine for us tonight.
Have the best day you can ?

LullyDully Fri 15-May-20 07:52:51

Good morning from Hampshire. Sunny today. Off to Hilliers garden centre today for something to brighten up my front patch. What a joy to see the plants for sale again.

Brunette10 Fri 15-May-20 07:51:45

Congratulations Scentia - how lovely. flowers

Brunette10 Fri 15-May-20 07:50:48

Good morning from Fife where the sun is shining but a tad chilly. It's so nice to get up and see the sun shine. I just said to DH under normal circumstances over these last few weeks the weather has been on our side so I am grateful for that. It lightens your mood. Also, we would have been away out and about enjoying the weather and taking our DGS's away places. Alas not at the moment though I hope when all this returns to normal we shall have the same opportunities to re-capture some of the times we've missed together. But back to today and will be baking my new found past time wink, not sure what yet. I hope everyone has a good day whatever they get to do, take care and keep your chin up.

Scentia Fri 15-May-20 07:48:38

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire, the sun has got his hat on this morning.
I have a night shift tonight so I am having a lazy day today.

DD rang last night to tell us she was pregnant. So bizarre, as last week I had a dream that she was pregnant. She has always said by her DS’s first birthday she would be expecting again! Baby is not due until New Years Day. It is what we like to call a ‘Stay At Home Baby’ ? A bit of good news in this strange time.

Mick be careful with your hair clippers, if they are not professional ones they just ‘pull’ your hair out. Ask my DH apparently that is what it felt like!?
Hope everyone has a good day and stay safe everyone❤️

Urmstongran Fri 15-May-20 07:46:21

Good morning everyone from a gloriously sunny Malaga ? where I’m sat in bed with a cuppa and Himself has just left for his brisk walk to Bateria Park and back. He’s gone for an hour and I like to listen to Radio Malaga. Equal number of songs in English and Spanish and I like the DJ’s in a morning. I cannot understand more than the odd word or phrase ‘buenos Dias!’ being the main one but obviously it ‘reminds’ me that I’m in Spain listening to the local radio with many of my neighbours! Once I tried an English radio station - Costa Del - and OMG the DJ’s were ex-Radio 1 jocks such as Dave Lee Travis, still promoting himself as ‘the hairy giant’ and I hated it - it was like being in a time warp.

Friday = steak and Rioja night. ? A change from Ribera tonight. Himself chooses as he does the shopping!

So glad to hear that Dexter won’t lose his sight dragonfly it’s been a long haul and a worry for you. Perhaps not too long now until he can go home. At least now you can relax as he’s over the worst. Bet you miss him once he’s gone though!

Hopefully you’ll have some positive news before the weekend gillybob. Fingers crossed for you.

I’m really enjoying the new Anne Tyler book I started yesterday and most unlike me, I actually laughed out loud on a couple of occasions! I shall finish it today (it’s only a 4hr read on the Kindle but I’m a slow reader and I’m savouring this so it will take me slightly longer). I’d definitely recommend it to you all. ‘Redhead by the Side of the Road’.

Hope Friday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

kittylester Fri 15-May-20 07:34:07

Morning all!

As dragonfly says, Leicestershire is lovely and sunny though still chilly.

I must iron today. The door on the ironing cupboard is difficult to close!

Steak and salad for dinner.

Nannytopsy Fri 15-May-20 07:33:14

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Blue skies in Suffolk today. It’s always sunny on May 15th - DH’s birthday.
We are visiting our very well policed nursery and farm shop this morning for asparagus and manure, among other things.
I shall get a few bedding plants which it should be warm enough for in the next few days. Courgettes going out next week.
Hope today is kind to everyone.

Nortsat Fri 15-May-20 07:23:15

Good morning Mick and the GM team, from a sunny but chilly east London.

Got quite a lot of gardening done yesterday and cleaned out the fridge... it’s the high life here.
Zoomed with a friend but we were both a bit downbeat, I think we’re tired of lockdown.

Dusting and polishing today and the silver needs cleaning. I plan a traybake with chicken thighs and chorizo for supper and a glass of Malbec. ?

Have a good day all, best wishes to those who need them and ‘let’s be careful out there’. ?

brook2704 Fri 15-May-20 07:22:43

Good morning everyone from a much brighter Inverness. There’s bits of blue sky and some high white clouds and it’s even beginning to warm up a bit ?

Our weekly clap for carers is expanding each week, last night we had drums , guitar and singing with all our neighbours joining in and waving across front gardens ! I wonder what’s being planned for next week ....

I had lots of carrots to use up, usually they’d do into a healthy carrot soup but yesterday they ended up as carrot cake muffins with a mascarpone cheese topping - yummy. Now I’ve got 8 rather large ones to eat up sometime! ....

I hope everyone finds something to enjoy today especially those with extra worries , wobbles and struggles.

Take care ?

Sar53 Fri 15-May-20 07:22:17

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea.
DH did the weekly shop yesterday lunchtime and was gone for 2 hours. He was not a happy bunny when he returned. We are finding so many items are more expensive and the quality of veg, especially, is quite poor.
Bed changing and washing today, a walk later and then probably get on with my latest jigsaw. I ordered a couple of new ones the other day as charity shops obviously won't be opening any time soon.
I'm still waiting for the prints of my grandchildren to arrive, I sincerely hope that they haven't got lost in the post.
Have the best day you can and stay safe everyone xx

dragonfly46 Fri 15-May-20 07:19:47

Good morning from a bright sunny Leicestershire.

Now I have stopped worrying about Dexter I really must do some housework. I saw my neighbour had her cleaner yesterday - is that allowed?

When can I plant out my bedding plants? It is still very cold at night here.

I hope Gilly has some success today and Mary feels better. Best wishes to all who are feeling down.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 15-May-20 07:17:19

Good morning Mick and all

Blue sky and a bit chilly here in S E Essex, clouds due this afternoon.

The excitement of the day will be deciding on our takeaway this evening, which means no cooking or cleaning up the kitchen for me.....yippee!!!

Keep safe and well folks ?

Ginny42 Fri 15-May-20 07:15:00

Good morning Mick and everyone. It's a grey morning in Cheshire, but truly cannot complain as the weather has been lovely for weeks. The sky was a clear blue last evening, but cloud has rolled in overnight so it's warmer.

There are some very noisy crows having a stand-off with the squirrels in the garden and not at all like the lovely blackbird I usually awaken to.

I have decided not to touch my hair with scissors as the results could be catastrophic. I'll be able to have bunches soon. grin

Discovered last night that I hadn't saved the supermarket slot, so now the delivery I'd hoped to get next Tuesday will not be until a week today. Fortunately I have wonderful neighbours. I agree about the snacking Mick and I must have a rich tea with tea, but a chocolate biscuit with coffee.

Walking in the woods first and to feed the ducklings on the pond. They come to my quack now. I'm trying them on sweet corn and some seeds today.

Making bread later and will have some with homemade pumpkin soup for lunch. Will crack on with my painting and get it finished. I'm such a fiddler.

Enjoy the relative freedom if you are able to meet family again. Mine live too far away unfortunately, but will meet a friend on Sunday. Take care all. flowers

Beechnut Fri 15-May-20 07:02:06

Good Morning everyone from Severnside where it looks lovely and sunny outside.

Off for another try today to pick up a gardening magazine. It wasn’t in yesterday.
I got a lot of my sewing done and worked on my craft project so there might be a little more done later. I have to mow the lawn too or it will be too hard to push the mower through.

Enjoy the sunshine folks ?
