Hi, this post was fine. We're only deleting because it reiterates some bits from the one above that needed to be deleted. Apologies for the interruption in the discussion folks.

Another light hearted thread turned into a nasty political squabble.

SueDonim Mon 18-May-20 21:19:22

Nicola Sturgeon has been very canny about all this, all the while covering up a Covid outbreak at a Nike conference in Edinburgh in February.

So long as we have people still dying and the fact that nobody's got a clue about this virus I won't be relaxing, no fear.

Chewbacca Mon 18-May-20 21:51:35

Your post @ 20.41 was unnecessarily rude and unpleasant sooziewuzie; no need for that kind of response on what was, until you posted, a good and civil discussion.

For the first time since lockdown, I've met up with my best pal and enjoyed a 2 hour walk (suitably distanced) and have plans to meet up with another pal tomorrow to do the same. Walking with a friend is so much nicer than walking alone.

It may well be ‘the bleeding obvious’ to you mcem but some Scottish GNers ( Paddyanne for one) seems to think that
The Great Scottish Lockdown will go on for a month more, or longer. It won’t....and have just read this evening that restrictions will be lifted for various things soon for you, from the 28th (ten days away.)

It is Chewbacca isn't it. I met up with my daughter and did a 2 hour walk (socially distanced) which was just brilliant" smile

AGAA4 but some in Wales thought it was OK to go over to England, walk around in a crowded resort then presumably come home again to Wales, although perhaps not to a welcome in the hillsides or vales. angry Then boast about it on TV.

Some do have to cross borders to work, of course, but that is essential.

AGAA4 Tue 19-May-20 15:17:02

Hope those who did unnecessary border hopping haven't brought more virus back with them. It does work both ways.

The message here as I see it is to only drive locally and driving over the border not allowed.

Sussexborn Tue 19-May-20 15:32:42

Perhaps they should set up road blocks all along the borders and man them with machine guns. I bet some would just see it as a challenge.

When are the autopsies being performed Felice? Are they not having funerals yet?

Think how much the woman could have bought in Primark for 250€. Almost the whole shop!

Callistemon Tue 19-May-20 15:54:11

It is difficult, of course if you have to cross borders to get across your garden or out of your front gate.

Callistemon Tue 19-May-20 15:55:44

Or to go food shopping or to the doctor's in your own country but the only way is to travel through another one to get there.

felice Tue 19-May-20 16:09:34

I do not know Sussexborn I am not party to the ins and outs of the Medical profession, I just thoroughly read the in depth government and news posts, no red tops here.
I assume they would be held in the Hospital closest to the death.

AGAA4 Tue 19-May-20 16:37:31

Bit of common sense needed. If you have to cross borders to work or for any other reason than leisure trips then of course it is reasonable to do so.

Surely it is not too hard to abide by a country's laws. They are made for a reason, to get the transmission of the virus down.

Chewbacca Tue 19-May-20 16:48:08

Border demarcation? Yeah, why not? It went down a storm in East/West Germany. That ended well. hmm

AGAA4 Tue 19-May-20 16:58:35

This is happening in England too. The Lake District had signs up that it was closed and other beauty spots.

If people are allowed to move around freely there will be a lot more deaths. It is about that not borders.
