Julia as you say and as everything else, fine in moderation!

JuliaM Fri 22-May-20 17:36:18

Bluesky, the excuse of 'Thins the blood' was the very same one that my 90yr old Dad used to say, at the time he was actually taking Wafrin tablets, he accidently over did it until he was suffering from regular bruises for the slightest thing, and started to have fainting spells aswell, and nearly died.
Alcohol is fine in moderation and enjoyed responsibly, but its just oh so simple to start on the road to hell with over indulging, and one hell of an horrific journey to recover back to normal life, just not worth risking in the first place.

Cheers Rufus..although I shan't be having ?until 8pm....

Or is that Tanqueray No.10 strong enough to last all week? confused

Hope it isn't just me..(honesty please ?)

farview Of course it isn't! I'll support you both physically and metaphorically and even keep you company if you lose count after three, if necessary! grin
Can't be more honest than that, as Dell might say!
Note that only 52bright is proffering a toast! Sisters in arms!. hmm
Here's to your Good Health!
Cheers! wine wine wine

I used to enjoy a drink till I realised I was drinking too much and decided to stop altogether. I don't really fancy even one glass but apparently just the one is actually good for you as it thins the blood. So I'm trying to drink one small glass of wine a day.

grannylyn65 Fri 22-May-20 13:23:15

Recovering alcoholic so No !!!

spottybook Fri 22-May-20 13:13:12

Like you, farview, our one glass has crept up to two or three most nights since lockdown. Wine-o'clock starts at 6pm before supper and our excuse is that it marks the transition from afternoon to evening while we are stuck at home!!

lovebeigecardigans1955 Fri 22-May-20 12:15:37

It's tea, tea and yet more tea for me. I put some beer down for the slugs yesterday and drank a small glass for myself.

Now if I had something big to celebrate I'd still prefer the tea as I'm not keen on champagne or indeed anything fizzy. It's a free country and I reserve the right to be boring.

ninathenana Fri 22-May-20 12:09:55

We had a bottle of wine with Sunday roast 3 wks ago. It was a thank you from a neighbour for a favour done by Himself. Before that we hadn't touched alcohol since my birthday in January.

annsixty Fri 22-May-20 11:23:11

Good answer Pantglas.
I just hadn't figured the reason out for myself ?

Pantglas2 Fri 22-May-20 11:17:20

Ha ha Annesixty! I think you can quite reasonably put your intake down to hip pain relief! I know my DH did before his op in February!

Purplepixie Fri 22-May-20 11:16:21

Hot toddies for me, but only occasionally, of course! wine

annsixty Fri 22-May-20 11:16:07

Who said " a day without wine is a day without sunshine" ?
Actually that could have been me.!!

annsixty Fri 22-May-20 11:12:06

I have decided to keep quiet in case I shock you.?

Yiayia4 Fri 22-May-20 10:57:46

Love a glass of wine in the evenings Yamas?

grannysyb Fri 22-May-20 09:54:29

Usually have a glass of wine with our evening meal. Sometimes have a cold beer in the garden when we've been on the allotment. Sunday, we have a g and t before our meal, and then a glass of wine with it.

almostelderly Fri 22-May-20 09:43:52

I have not drank alcohol for over a year for various reasons. To compensate I bought a posh coffee maker. In lockdown I have been tempted to buy a few bottles of red but resisted. I compensate with coffee and fever tree tonic drinks. These are flavoured so I'm not tempted to add gin!

JuliaM Fri 22-May-20 09:34:33

Im a bit of a weird one lol, not a big fan of Tea or Coffee, and only drink around 2 cups per day, cannot drink Alcohol due to the medication I take, and pure fruit juices tend to spike my blood sugars far too high, which leaves me with very little choice of either Plain water, Milk, very low alcohol drinks such as Ghostship 0.5% or the occasional glass of wine from the same strength range, or my main staple drink, either hot or cold, Ribena no added sugar, which also helps top up my Vit C levels from the Blackcurrants that it is made from, I told you I was Weird!

kittylester Fri 22-May-20 08:26:31

And, whenever a thread like this appears, I find mysolf agreeing with merlot!! wine

Maggiemaybe Thu 21-May-20 23:41:08

Well tonight it was beer, which seems to go well with our family quiz night, but my usual tipple is red wine or fizz. I enjoy it and stick (just) to the 14 units a week, with a couple of alcohol free days a week. Nothing’s changed here, but I can understand how the rules might be bent a little at the moment.

Granny23 Thu 21-May-20 23:23:45

My Mother drummed it into me that you should never drink alcohol when alone. Sadly this means that with no visitors and no visiting, I have not touched a drop for 12 weeks.

Grannynannywanny Thu 21-May-20 23:13:56

In beer there is freedom, in wine there is health, in cognac there is power, and in water there is bacteria

Cheers Farview ?

tanith Thu 21-May-20 23:06:31

It’s tea, coffee or water for me no alcohol for many years.

MiniMoon Thu 21-May-20 22:44:13

Cup of tea please. I can't drink wine these days because of acid reflux.
I can manage a gin and tonic occasionally though.

shysal Thu 21-May-20 22:37:58

I am very boring. I dislike tea and coffee, and don't drink alcohol. I actually love a cool glass of tap water, which is all I drink.
