Why when I have our gardener here am I unable to sit in the garden and read?
It’s the same with anyone that comes to work in our home.
Is it just me?

Not just you , I find I feel the same.

Yes - makes me feel like Lady Muck.

Same here, I used to go out or retreat to the bedroom.

Always been the same MissFoodLove, I can’t settle in my home either if workmen come in, obviously they have to occasionally, I think it’s quite common though to feel like this,

I'm the same. Whenever the gardener arrives I seem to be sitting in the same chair. I think oh dear he must think I haven't moved since last week. Also feel awkward when having workmen indoors. Difficult to know what to do. Sometimes I check emails or do the filing. Anything so as not to appear idle??

I agree, I am usually glued to my computer.

I hateanyone working in my house or garden . DH would love to have a cleaner and I just cannot bear it .

It’s just considerate of you to let him get on with his job without feeling you’re supervising him. I do the same when DH is doing whatever he does in the garden. grin

I don’t like people in my home at any time. Necessary evil. No guilt involved.

As I write this there are two men outside cleaning my gutters and fascias. I'm very grateful to them but am longing for them to finish so that I can water the garden/have some breakfast/fill the bird feeders/etc. I can't relax!

I don't feel guilty, but I couldn't possibly just sit there while they're working. So I get more done!

I'm starting to find hoovering, particularly stairs, and cleaning kitchen floors and bathrooms difficult to do.
Dread the thought of a cleaner coming in. Some folk I have heard of seem to clean and tidy up before cleaner arrives!
