Obviously I am not expecting anyone to reveal their identity but I do wonder if there are any incognito!

Not famous by any means but I work as an extra on films and TV so have worked with a few (Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones). It's a brilliant job although not one you could rely on for a steady income unless you have been doing it for many years and are well known on the circuit. It is a job anyone can do - no acting experience necessary - and not badly paid either. It can be boring - you spend a lot of time hanging around (but you get fed well!!). It can also be a chance to 'dress-up' which is great fun, I spent a whole week the December before last dressed in pyjamas, dressing gown and quilted jacket plus slippers, in a 'dungeon' being shot at and covered with fake blood - superb.

That sounds great fun Loobs

I am surprised to see that the pay isn’t bad as an extra, although as you said it could never be full time reliable work.

An interesting way to spend some time.

I'm sure I have seen Judy Dench posting on here! wink

I am not well know outside of my own (small) professional circlessmile, but I have been on the radio a couple of times, written a few articles, and met a few famous people.
I would not want to be famous it looks like a lot of hastle grin

Mernice** Exactly!! I just remember I was in a few scenes with Jamie Dornan. Famous for a few things including Fifty Shades. I really couldn’t see what all the hype was about. He’s shortish and slim. Not my type at all. He must have ‘built up’ for the underpants ad lol.

When DH was doing his family tree he discovered he was ( distantly) related to Captain Scott. Does that make me famous? ?

Blinko Fri 29-May-20 10:08:14

I'm the Queen of Sheba.....

Skweek1 Fri 29-May-20 10:08:36

I sometimes claim to be Ronnie Pickering, bu otherwise not famous!

henetha Fri 29-May-20 10:10:11

I'm glad I'm not famous.

LovelyLady Fri 29-May-20 10:11:18

I've never been asked for my autograph. Therefore not famous enough. When I was a very little girl I'd practice my autograph just in case. Strange how our expectations change.

Sainsbury's in Woolton Liverpool you often see famous writers and actors shopping there They don't walk around incognito or with minders behind them they are just down to earth like the rest of us. Kate Middleton used to walk around Waitrose on Anglesey when Prince William was stationed there.

This thread must be interesting, JenniferEccles as it has attracted several new posters.

Welcome to all smile

Are you related to Eccles, aka Spike Milligan, Jennifer?

grannylyn65 Fri 29-May-20 10:14:54

Where is jingle?

Callistemon Fri 29-May-20 10:16:08

Don't ask, grannylyn it's a long story but we have never found out the answer sad

Aepgirl Fri 29-May-20 10:19:53

You’re not famous just because you have met someone famous!

Boolya Fri 29-May-20 10:25:02

Although I have worked with a few well known people, I am famous only in my own kitchen!

cupcake1 Fri 29-May-20 10:25:28

That would be telling! ?

TATT Fri 29-May-20 10:32:35

I was an extra in a film starring Margot Robbie. The food was great, the pay was good and the hanging around wasn’t a problem, as the other people were really friendly. I was luckier than some in that I didn’t have to wear a corset. And I did get to see myself on the silver screen!

Toadinthehole Fri 29-May-20 10:38:32

Where we live it’s not unusual to see famous people. I was once standing by the fruit and veg in Sainsbury’s, when I recognised the voice of the man next to me, talking to the woman he was with. I looked up, and sure enough, it was Dev from Coronation Street!

Apricity Fri 29-May-20 10:49:40

Well darlings, the stories I could tell. But of course I won't. Wild horses wouldn't drag it out of me!

Ok, if you absolutely insist just send very, very large sums of money to my secret account in the Bahamas. Things have been a bit tight lately. ??

EllanVannin Fri 29-May-20 10:51:06

I'm related to the late wife of the late Hugh Foot of the Foot family of politicians, diplomats, etc, etc.
Her name was Florence Sylvia Tod and was related to my dad's mother----who I never met as she died before I was born. An aunt who I knew until she died in the 90's, was the image of her ( photograph ) Florence became a baroness.

Years ago I was mistaken for Helen Mirren, DH has been told many times he bears a strong resemblance to Harrison Ford.
Does that make us a famous couple???

PennyWhistle Fri 29-May-20 11:12:54

I am sure I am famous - perhaps in my own lunch time smile

kittylester Fri 29-May-20 11:19:34

I was mistaken for Sandie Shaw about 50 years ago. So i could have been famous!

My sister in law has been an extra in lots of TV programmes set in Yorkshire!

jennyvg Fri 29-May-20 11:25:14
