Do you turn your clothes inside out before washing

I always turn tops and trousers inside out. It prevents wear and fading on the right side. Also, if there’s a mucky mark from the line and peg, it doesn’t show. I iron them inside out too. It avoids an ironing mark on the seams. Much quicker ( IMO) and easier, especially for trousers

Yes Welbeck, I remember my mother washing the dishes with laundry powder, and not always rinsing it properly.
I've never turned clothes inside out for washing but I might start if it stops bobbling on jumpers etc.
One thing I remember is that laundry should be hung bottoms by the top and tops by the bottom.

I wash jeans and trousers inside out, also machine washable woollens.

I only turn sweaters and other tops that might get bobbly or pil inside out before washing but I do turn coloured cotton clothes inside out before hanging them on the line in summer because the sun can fade them.

A tip for stain removal if you have a mark on your top or trousers is to use a baby wet wipe. It soon gets rid of the stain. A farmer friend first gave me that top for removal stains from light coloured carpets but it works for fabrics too

I always turn everything inside out (not undies or socks) because it really does protect clothes from fading and excess wear.

I turn it the right way in as it comes off the line and it's ready for ironing or putting away.

Girl after my own heart, wash inside out, hang inside out, only iron what really needs ironing......others just get put away to wear another day! Life is too short to iron everything (like I used to many moons ago). My motto is if the garment is hung, either on a clothes line or on a maiden (clothes horse etc) correctly it doesn't need to be ironed.........

I had a single tub washing machine with an electric wringer! It didn't heat water so hot water in and wash in order least soiled first to work overalls last. Mind your fingers in the mangle.
This was in the 70's. I was so glad when I eventually got an automatic.

I wash jeans and black trousers inside out but nothing else. Oh except socks my husband puts in the wash...I return them same way but clean.

Absolutely not. I have better things to do with my time. I don't think I know anyone who does this....well if they do it is not talk about..

If they come off inside out then that’s how they're washed! I used to be infuriated with late DHs inside out socks. They were returned to his sock drawer in the same fashion! I always do up the buttons/zip on duvet covers otherwise errant pillow cases hide in them and are a complete b****r to get out again. I recently used a cover which hadn’t been used for ages and found a pair of scrunched up pants in the far corner.

I don’t turn things inside out to wash but, I press most things using a tea towel to prevent marks. It comes from the days of having to iron starched nurses’ aprons and caps, to avoid burning starch on the bottom of the iron. I have just carried on ironing that way.

I wash trousers, tops and jumpers inside out so as to reduce friction on the outside and keep them looking good for longer. It only takes a moment and seems very worth it.

Dry on line and finish in tumble so don't have much to iron.

Hang trousers from waist and shirts from the tail so there's no clothes peg marks in a visible area. Again less ironing. Only iron smart trousers. Casual trousers don't need it if you get them out of the tumbler before it stops.

Always turn everything inside out and hang out the same way. As a lot if clothing is now recommended to be ironed on wrong side, yes remember ironing, saves a bit of time as item is already outside in. I hate all the clothing with those plastic motifs nowadays. Can't tumble dry and a nightmare to iron.

I iron trousers inside out as well!

Always wash trousers inside out but that’s because I peg them out inside out so the pockets dry. Other things I usually look at washing instructions! I read somewhere that “if you wear it on the top, you peg it by the bottom, and if you wear it on the bottom then you peg it by the top “ which is something I have always done. Trousers definitely dry faster.

I dont wash them inside out but i do turn the t shirts that way to iron them. I’ve ironed over some motifs in the past and they have ended up stuck on the iron. Lesson learned.

I always put all dark-coloured or much loved items on the line inside out to protect from bleaching in the hot sun. Other items are put into the machine inside out if I think the surface of the material needs protecting from rubbing- like jumpers.

All small items, if they are not washed in a mesh bag, turn themselves inside out anyway. Every one. One of life's great mysteries. I can tip a huge pile of pants out of the machine and every single one of them - having been put in the right way out - is inside out. Such fun

I dont do it but my daughter does it but I hang my washing upside down when I'm hanging it out

Yes, we do, for most part, in our house, always for dark or delicate items.

Yes I turn jeans inside out and also anything that requires me to do so through the washing instructions.
Also any jumpers that I wash on the wool cycle as it reduces bobbling.

Knitwear, trousers and jeans zipped and inside out. Not my DH’s shirts, as he won’t do it himself. Always wash bra’s and trainer socks in one of those mesh bags so they don’t catch on anything or get lost.
While it’s been hot I’ve washed on a low spin speed and hung out on hangers. Much less ironing, even his xxxxxx shirts.

That's why my husband does the washing and he washes them the way I give them to him, inside out, right side out or jeans with knickers still attached!

I do jeans and trousers inside out to keep the colours from fading and also makes them easier to iron from the inside first.

I just shove it in the machine in a lump, take it out in a lump, then untangle the lump and put it on the line, any old how.

Then I have the cheek to complain if it needs ironing.

I turn everything inside out, hang on line inside out and iron inside out. Surprised more people don't...i thought it protected clothes. Maybe I will review..
