There are always going to be some people much richer, much more powerful, and a lot more successful than others, whether or not they deserve to be. Queen Elizabeth and the British monarchy generally , as long as they don't commit recognisable crimes, excel as elite personages and there might be a lot worse and few better than they are.

It's amazing how well and active one can be when cushioned by vast wealth and privilege. Not having to work 12 hour days for minimum wage must also help, not to mention living in a palace rather than a care home.

I am always amazed when Monarchists say that the Royal Family works hard on our behalf.
Firstly, they don't work hard. They get whisked from home to an engagement, perhaps to another engagement and then back home again. They never have to concern themselves with transport arrangements or when they can get some lunch.
Secondly, much as they like to think so, they do not work on our behalf. All of their actions are done to perpetuate the existence of what Phillip calls, 'The Firm.' If they really had the people's best interests at heart they would give up the legal powers that Graham lists and cut down on the largesse.

2020 and we still have an elitist royal family here in the Uk who are unelected and run amok doing as they please all living in vast Palaces Castles and thousand acre estates while not having real jobs and are as corrupt as any middle eastern countries leaders, Andrew alone is a good enough reason of why the monarchy is not fit for purpose, then you have the rest of them all with their noses in the trough, I mean what does Edward actually contribute to the UK in return for the lifestyle he enjoys at our expense, it's only a matter of time before they will be gone.
The "good for tourism" excuse is the one most commonly heard and among the least plausible. The UK ranks a subdued 10th in the world; and of the top nine only two have monarchies (Spain, Thailand) though I am sure that it is not for the monarchies that people rush to the beaches of Spain or to the bars of Bangkok.

Anniebach and Sparkle, since you both use and believe in homeopathy, perhaps you can tell us how much of an actual part of a swimming pool is in those little bottles of so-called medicine you take at great expense to you?

I was brought up to believe that no one is better than me and I am better than no one else...not money or education or birth can make you superior.You might be better AT something ,a fabulous chef or a brilliant writer but you aren't better just because of your birth and shouldn't be treatd as though you are .Its an out of date concept ,fit for the middle ages and should have been left in the middle ages.

How many times does any poster have to state the case plainly, be ignored then be told they cannot justify their opinions?

I listen to the views of those with differing opinions if supported by the correct facts but some are best ignored if their evidence is basically wrong.
