Good for JKR I say, and as for the young actors so eager to put their views ( even when not needed) I think the problem is these days, that if you are a ‘celeb’ and you don’t immediately come out with something, social media howls with rage that you haven’t commented, therefore you must be a racist/ homophobe/ trans-hater. It’s a stupid and very unpleasant aspect of forums and causes real harm to people and their careers.

The fundamental issue is the desire to deny the biological reality of sex as a determinant of what it is to be a woman. One we allow that, we drive a coach and horses through women’s rights.

I agree with Rowling people who are born as women should have intimate spaces like lavatories and hospital rooms reserved for the and freed of physiological men.

'Born as women' and 'physiologically' are unfortunately blunt criteria but they are the best we have. Smaller and less muscular people must be protected from potential predators and bullies.
