Oh yes Wimbledon! I love Wimbledon and try to ensure we don’t accidentally book a holiday that fortnight!

I am gutted it’s not on this year but we have been promised some tennis for the two weeks.
I guess they will show some classic battles.

Regarding seasons I feel they all have their advantages. I don’t even mind winter, coming home to a cosy home and pulling the curtains against the winter weather.

Autumn for me too. I’m surprised how many of us love the ‘season of mists and mellow ’. Whenever I tell friends it’s my favourite season, they say ‘why would you want the summer over?’. Living by the sea , September sees the visitors leaving and giving us back our space. It isn’t a busy beach but it does attract day trippers and dog walkers. Having said all this, I love all the seasons this country gives us. Wouldn’t live anywhere else. ??

Another vote for autumn here, just love all the beautiful colours of the leaves & all the other things other posters have said!!

We are in my favourite time of year now.
Warm ( hopefully) days, long evenings. Meeting friends and family outside seems so much more relaxing. Lighter clothing and no need to wear socks/ tights.

Early spring I think. New growth give a feeling of hope

I like spring because it brings such promise of renewal and beginnings after dark and cold winter.

I'm with Puzzler here, June and beginning of summer for the same reasons. Also we usually would have been on our first trip abroad to get some extra sunshine.

Autumn - all reasons already mentioned. September and October because of the quality of the light at that time of the year. Also like early Winter when trees have lost their leaves and you can see the tracery of their branches, especially when in silhouette against a sun rise/set.

September has always been special to me, though now it just seems a bit like another summer month rather than proper autumn. I love September for the Michaelmas daisies, late summer flowers, shiny horse chestnuts, dewy mornings. It always seems to me to be the start of everything rather than the end. I think this dates from when I was at school, because I loved going back to school and being with my friends again.

I don’t much like summer, the heat and discomfort, the clothes which only look good on the young. Wimbledon and the Proms were summer‘s only redeeming features, and we’re not getting either this year!

I love the autumn too. I don't have to list why because Nortsat has said all I'd have put!

Autumn - we have several family birthdays, thus causes to celebrate and gifts to give and receive.
I like autumn clothes, warm cardigans, long coats, cashmere scarves and leather gloves. Nice walks with all the seasonal colours changing and the cold, crisp air.
I like autumn-y food, homemade soups and breads, one pot casseroles and slow cooked dishes.
Interesting television and radio programmes and cosy nights in front of the fire. Then the preparation for Chr***mas.

(I like Spring too...)

NB omitted to say the Lawn Tennis is cancelled for this year and only re-runs of old matches can be shown on TV.

This is a light-hearted thread. I feel a little down as this is usually my favourite time of year. June/July I love to watch Queens and especially Wimbledon Tennis Championship. It’s also the time of my Birthday, so cake and lunches out. Sunshine, if we’re lucky, English strawberries -pick your own. And Pimms, can’t get enough of it. 5 a day fruit in a glass with ice and alcohol. Divine! Which season/month is special to you and why?
