The American woman is at it again. Not satisfied with destroying tea she's turned her attention to scrambled eggs grin

rosecarmel never mind, soon it will be July 4 the day when Americans celebrate that they are nothing to do with the UK.
And some in the UK celebrate that too. smile

It still won’t do it!
“Perma-tanned”

rosecarmel Mon 22-Jun-20 09:39:54

It happens on this site all too often -- as though it were normal-

MawB Mon 22-Jun-20 09:39:22

“Permanent-tanned” not what my iPad thought I meant!

FarNorth Mon 22-Jun-20 09:38:32

Elegran I have always favoured salt-not-sugar for porridge and believed all sensible Scots did too.
Then I got a job in a care home in the Scottish Highlands and discovered that almost all the elderly people there liked sugar on their porridge. shock

Americanisms are not Americans - but a question of semantics. You need to appreciate the difference Rosecarmel and resist the temptation to react as if you personally are being criticised

Would you like us to desist from criticising that Paper marks-tanned oaf the Donald too? (No chance)

I saw the British Tea video and thought it was a joke.

Even if it, and the 'egg' video aren't jokes, it's really not worth getting steamed up about.

Of course Americans never say anything against the UK!

MawB Mon 22-Jun-20 09:35:21

Not prejudiced against Americans, but justifiably aghast at people who have the cheek to post so-called instructional videos on the internet when they know less about cooking than my dog.

rosecarmel Mon 22-Jun-20 09:34:17

FarNorth, someone tells the truth and your ignorant response is to ask if they are drunk?

FarNorth Mon 22-Jun-20 09:34:07

rosecarmel where are the posts being mean about Americans, on this thread, rather than ones criticising the silliness of the videos?

Blinko Mon 22-Jun-20 09:33:50

The lady in the tea and eggs (and whatever other) videos is doing it to get hits on You Tube.

They're not meant to be serious.

rosecarmel Mon 22-Jun-20 09:32:57

Give me a break Maw, you know darn right well it isn't true-

There was an entire thread dedicated to what Americanisms are hated-

FarNorth Mon 22-Jun-20 09:32:02

rosecarmel are you drunk?

rosecarmel Mon 22-Jun-20 09:31:00

You know if has nothing to do with making eggs but finding some excuse to exercise your prejudice against Americans-

And Gransnet permits it every time-

MawB Mon 22-Jun-20 09:30:13

rosecarmel

But why are YOU personally so angry, Rosecarmel? Is it your video? Do YOU believe that the British cook their scrambled eggs like that? Do YOU confuse scrambled eggs with a sweet omelette? Surtely YOU are smarter than that?

Elegran Mon 22-Jun-20 09:24:50

To be honest, I don't really care what they eat in the US, that is their choce. However, she made five videos on "Five foods to try in the Uk" and at least two of the five are no such thing. If she is serious in calling this "British eggs" then she could at least find out how the British scramble their eggs! There could be a lot of US tourists sending their breakfast back to British hotel kitchens with the comment - "You haven't put the right amount of sugar in this! And where is my whipped cream?"

Now you know how the Scots feel about pouring sugar, syrup etc over porridge!

How funny - surely not meant seriously - what would she do if there was a sugar shortage!!!!!

Mind you I have not visited USA since late 1960's,but even then can remember how sweet so much of their food tasted.
