Hi all,
I always went barefoot then got fed up with having to wipe the soles of my feet as they always felt unclean (even though my house is spotless), so I bought some cheap black sliders from Tesco. What do you wear? X

Just hilarious to read

I was wondering what "sliders" were.?
Many, many years ago, my father used to call "sliders" the extra socks he wore, (over normal socks & inside wellies), both to keep indoor socks clean, & to insulate the wellies.!

I have painful feet, so wear comfy socks indoors.

Sheepskin ankle boot style for winter and similar but more lightweight during warmer months. Used to do flip flops or mules but began to find them dodgy on stairs so abandoned. Never barefoot.

Birkenstocks forever!

Cabbie21, your husband needs some 'indoor only' shoes to change into on visits. I always take mine.

My Emu sheepskin slippers or currently in an old pair of mule sandals

Fit flops or an old pair of Birkenstock’s

Pink leather 'Freed' ballet shoes in summer , pretty and comfortable, also easy to put in bag when going to others houses ( ones that ask you to remove shoes at the door). Warm furry slippers in winter.

I have several different pairs of FitFlops that I keep for indoors only. They are available for half price and I like the cushioned footbed.

I always used to go barefoot, but now I've lost any padding beneath my bones!

Birkenstock’s I just LOVE them. After plantar fasciitis I can’t go barefoot and need arch support . I now have three pairs ,one with a lovely wedge and use one pair mainly for indoors. So comfortable . Expensive but worth it . Go birkies . don’t be afraid they are prettier now than they used to be.

I have always gone barefoot when possible but if I have to wear something on my feet I either have slippers ( in winter) or toe-posts or Birkinstocks.
I do prefer to go without shoes in garden & indoors if possible.

Indoor shoes - "proper" shoes, kept for inside only. Best for feet, I've been told, especially if you are at home a lot.

Ugg sheepskin slippers most of the year, I'm now on my third pair and although expensive worth every penny. If it's really hot I wear flip flops.

@luca you wear wellies indoors ?

Sorry I quoted the wrong person in my previous thread.
I didn’t mention wellies that was furret.

libra10 Fri 26-Jun-20 10:17:40

Bare feet usually, though I have an old pair of Ugg slippers for wearing in the kitchen or going outdoors.

I never knew that footwear was called Sliders
l called a slice of ice cream between two wafers a slider ?

Slippers in winter, thicker slippers for when it’s really cold, flip flops for summer and fake crocs for the garden.
I dislike walking barefoot unless I am on a sandy beach...ah, well, I can dream.
Ps are sliders flip flops?

It was not i who talked of wellies, that was Furret.
I’m just mildly astonished that this thread has run to 5 pages !

Toe-posts - or sliders - most of the time.

Comfy slippers - furry lined ones for in the winter.

Have to say that I LOVE my 'knicker elastic summer shoes'

I'm NOT advertising the catalogue - it was the image that came up when I googled.

I wear white Croc flip flops all year round, my feet are hyper sensitive since chemo and don't like to be enclosed.

aggie Fri 26-Jun-20 10:05:48

I wear whatever comes to hand , mostly sandals
I hated wearing those slippers in Japan , any one and everyone wearing them before me ,
Japan was the cleanest place I have ever been
Doormats outside and inside the front and back door so I feel my sandals are ok

Lewie Fri 26-Jun-20 10:03:07

Crocs for me too. I have indoor and outdoor Crocs - and my feet are also good! Being able to chuck them into the washing machine is a bonus.

Flip flops or bare feet

Trisha57 Fri 26-Jun-20 09:58:21

Bare feet or flip flops indoors, Backdoorshoes in the garden.

Cabbie21 Fri 26-Jun-20 09:57:29

I can’t bear bare feet. I wear slippers, and socks for most of the year as my feet soon get cold.
Since I had plantar fasciitis about four years ago I wear firm shoes or trainers outside but I take them off as soon as I come in. In this heat I have some mules or sandals I wear without socks, but ideally I want to protect my feet as like others, I broke a toe a couple of years ago by stubbing my foot against the bed. It took months to be pain free.
DH wears proper shoes all the time as he is diabetic and feet are a danger area. I do wish I could get him to change when he has been outdoors though.
If we go to a house where you are expected to take your shoes off, he refuses. So he rarely goes to anyone’s house( in normal times).
