How do you see permission being granted in the OP?

It looks like a normal conversation to me. I could buy anything I wanted without my husband’s ‘permission’, and vice versa, but we decide these things together.

I am convinced various inanimate objects have seen lockdown as an opportunity to go on permanent furlough. Hairdryer packed up almost on the same day, electric toothbrush two days later, and then my washing machine. Thank goodness for Amazon and Hughes Direct.

Hairdresser texted me an appointment for 6th July (whooppeee!) but my daughter is now cross with me as the first one she could get, same hairdresser, same salon, is 13th July!

Lucy127 Your toilet sounds wonderful!... never heard of a "smart" toilet before.. I'd be excited too!.. (what are we like!.. I blame lockdown ?)

When taking in my washing yesterday I noticed that my washing-line was splitting in a few places.
Today, I went to our local market. But not one stall holder had a line. Likewise in Wilko’s. I felt quite excited and relieved when I finally tracked down a shiny blue one in our B & M Bargains. Not a colour I would have chosen normally, but at least my washing won’t end up on the ground next washing day.

Ok, explanations!

Appointment cancelled because although hairdressers can open, beauty salons can't.

And I should have said that what my husband, Mr P, actually said was therethere was sufficient funds available for us to be able to afford a new washing machine.

Actually, Foghornleghorn if you look back at the o.p. I didn't use the term "let me buy" at all!

Feel free to judge and comment, but check first to make sure you're on the right track.

I love anything new! Strangely though the thought of buying new clothes doesn't interest me atm. Don't know why when I used to spend lots on clothes.

Puzzled as to why you had your appointment cancelled.

My DH is happy if I buy something, as it makes him feel less of a spendthrift. He is receiving deliveries from Amazon weekly!

Hate to break the happy mood but it saddens me that a woman is pleased that her husband will ‘let’ her buy something.

I ordered some nice Sony headphones. When I saw they were packaged with a little wire tie wrapped around them, my sense of excitement regarding the possibilities of re-using this were really out of all proportion! It's the "little things", I guess...

I too got excited at arrival of new toilet. It’s a smart loo and it’s wonderful.
Squirt here, squirt there. Little light at night so don’t have to put on any bright lights. Soft closer and wait for it ....... it fans you dry. If you want it to.
Got other buttons for hygiene of toilet too. Very easy to use.

Esspee Actually the Jolen creme bleach to which I referred will soften and weaken excess facial hair - it doesn't remove it. It is a not a depilatory cream and therefore cannot be the equivalent of either shaving or cutting.

@silverlining48. If you are using scissors on facial hair why not just use a razor? It will give a much superior finish and far easier to do. Just make sure you use lots of lubricant (either soap or moisturiser).
Removal by the roots is far superior but chemical removal @Grandmafrench such as creams is the equivalent of shaving or cutting in that it does not discourage growth.

Ninarosa So does mine, except he says " this is past it's use by date, so is this , so is that, etc etc" and chucks them!
So, without ferreting through the garbage bin after he's gone, I've no idea what I'm going to be short of next week!

Looked again on the website to be sure I had made the right decision, and was a bit to see it was now £37 cheaper! Also remembered that I had a discount code that I had forgotten to use.

Phoned the company (on hold for yonks) fully expecting the "sorry, that was the price when you ordered" sort of thing, but no!

So I'm getting a £56.80 refund!

Ordered last night, free delivery this coming Sunday!
