I think I must have spent too long by myself in lockdown because I am starting to notice things like I have a favourite hob (bottom left), double light switches have to be facing the same way and I really don't like towels overlapping each other on the rail!

Is it just me? Surely I can’t be the only one with these strange idiosyncrasies? ?

Teddy123 Tue 30-Jun-20 11:07:24

Nope nothing strange. Sounds normal. Especially favourite hob plate being front left ?

DanniRae Tue 30-Jun-20 11:03:28

I cannot leave even one baked bean in the can - It's because I feel they have been grown, processed, canned and all for nothing.
I have two large teddy bears on my bed and I have a chat to them when I am making the bed.
Things on my coffee table....like coasters, magazines etc... have to be square to the edge.
I too trim blister packs to keep them 'tidy'.

I know there are more things to add to the list......I will be back grin

I too trim

Flakesdayout Tue 30-Jun-20 11:01:03

Great, I'm normal. Thank you. I tell my bed how much I love it as it is so comfortable. I will ask my wardrobe what should I wear if I have to go out. I caught myself talking to the litter tray this morning as it had been used (very rare) and as I picked up the present from the cat this morning, I asked it not to be dead. Then I had about an hour of sadnesss. I will dance with the cupboard doors on rare occasions, difficult to do a jive but hey its fun trying. I talk to objects around the home and ask the plants if they are happy to be watered. In fact I will chat to almost everything. I wont mention the dishwasher. And I am blood group A. neg. And reading this through it is clear that I am nuts,

Joesoap Tue 30-Jun-20 10:45:09

Convinced I have OCD during this pandemic also I am blood group A,that says it all.
I dont seem to be alone according to this mornings thread.

Chewbacca Tue 30-Jun-20 10:37:32

Every morning, when I open the greenhouse door, I say "Good Morning my lovelies!" On Saturday morning, my next door neighbour called back "Morning Chewbacca!" grin

Moggycuddler Tue 30-Jun-20 10:35:21

Not weird at all. I have all kinds of similar OCD things. I have a few fuddly toys on my bed and they have to be put in the same places every time I make the bed. Or they might be upset because they aren't next to their best friends.

We all have our little ways that are different to other people's, it's what makes us us and our homes reflect the people we are. My little ways are logical to me. We are all noticing the way we do things more because we are in our homes more

Blossoming Tue 30-Jun-20 10:26:45

Everything in this thread is perfectly reasonable and rational.

My OH does not put the spoons away all facing upwards. I may have to kill him if this goes on much longer.

Theoddbird Tue 30-Jun-20 10:23:28

Mine is that I don't notice dust. Surely I can't be the only one....

timetogo2016 Tue 30-Jun-20 10:17:49

I too use bottom left hob, same cups/plates/towels and i have only just realised that i do it.
I put it down to being idle tbh.

Thecatshatontgemat Tue 30-Jun-20 10:15:41

Bonkers! The lot of you!
And of course me too....... sigh
Two favourite hobs. One for cooking fresh, and the other when cooking frozen.
Favourite mugs rarely get used, as l don't want to damage them : ridiculous....
Pegging out washing on the twirly line, so that each "Bay" is even.
Bonkers, l tell thee...... ??

sf101 Tue 30-Jun-20 10:15:17

Grammaretto that's interesting I'm A+ and although not quite as 'mad' as some on here I do like everything in it's proper place. I've learnt to relax as the the grandkids make a mess and look forward to putting everything back in it's place.
Can't go to bed or leave the house if things not tidy.

GrannyfromWilmslow Tue 30-Jun-20 10:15:11

I do the blister pack trim too!

Calendargirl Tue 30-Jun-20 10:14:16

Wasn’t there a thread the other day about how we think the toilet roll should be hung.....?

?

henetha Tue 30-Jun-20 10:13:41

I'm obsesive about my fire alarms. I have two and I spend a lot of time staring at them to make sure they are flashing red regularly, especially at night. I have to count the seconds between flashes. Then I have to positively tear myself away from them to make myself go to bed.

b1zzle Tue 30-Jun-20 10:13:29

... having written that, I suppose I should only really start to seriously worry when they answer me back!

b1zzle Tue 30-Jun-20 10:12:45

Oh, I'm so glad it's not just me! I have to have all my canned foods facing the same way, but it's when I start apologising to food in the fridge that I haven't got round to using that I really start to worry ...

hicaz46 Tue 30-Jun-20 10:11:55

I think we could all develop our latent OCD habits if we’re not careful. I can be untidy/sloppy in some areas and then obsessively anal in other areas. Towels have to hang the right way, hangers have to face the right way, plates have to be stacked in order and many other things. It’s not something we can control really and if it doesn’t become to overwhelming it’s OK.

Pippet Tue 30-Jun-20 10:10:03

Right with you there. I find I look forward to emptying the dishwasher!!! And love folding the newly washed tea towels. Must get a life eh. Best wishes to all

GrannyGravy13 Tue 30-Jun-20 10:06:31

I also say please and thank you to our Alexa devices.

Aepgirl Tue 30-Jun-20 10:02:04

All seems quite normal to me!!!

I have always spoken to inanimate objects - thank you to the ATM, car park machine, etc. However, I only speak to home gadgets when they are not working properly, for example, 'don't do this to me now'. I always say 'good morning' to my car, and 'thank you' when I get where I'm going safely.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 30-Jun-20 09:57:55

Oh dear...........I count things, steps how many strokes of the toothbrush, hairbrush etc.

I colour coordinate pegs to washing, couldn't hang something up with mismatched/odd pegs. My clothes are hung in style and colour groups.

Dishwasher is mugs/ cups on left, glasses on right.....I could go on .........

Cannot go up to bed without straightening all cushions, remote controls and any magazines or books.

I converse with white goods and the teddies Lego figures in GCs room here.

One thing which has become a Christmas joke is when I unpack my beautiful Father Christmas figureI speak to him throughout the Festive Season as if he is my sixth child?

All normal behaviour???

sodapop Tue 30-Jun-20 09:57:17

I do that when cleaning my teeth norstat now I feel guilty because I only count to twenty. grin

annodomini Tue 30-Jun-20 09:56:53

What a relief it's been reading this thread. I'm not the only one who talks to inanimate objects. I greet my phone in the morning, even if there's no-one at the other end. My favourite mug doesn't go in the dishwasher - it gets washed and dried by hand.

Hetty58 Tue 30-Jun-20 09:26:23

From reading the above, it seems we have a plague of OCD to follow the virus!

My mother had OCD, all the checking, double-checking, counting and rituals were painful to witness. The kitchen floor was mopped a dozen times a day!
