Haircut this week, hurrah!

180 minutes until mine !!

My appointment is on Saturday, but not until the evening. I haven't had my hair cut since 5th February and my hair grows quickly so it's really long, but shapeless!
When I decided to stop colouring GillT57, I went for a shorter style and the two-tone look only lasted for the 6 weeks between cuts. I now have natural highlights - 50 shades of grey - and some white streaks. This time I'm thinking of having a much longer style to show them off.

My appointment is for next week but I have to say that my hair has not looked too bad as it's been growing out (I usually keep it very short). However, I am reminded of the Duchess of Cornwall sometimes when I look in the mirror now!

This Thursday, thank goodness. DH and I have a double appt in a 'private room'. I'm trying to embrace the grey but not happy with my dull mop at the moment.

I’ve just had my first cut in 4 months, I’ve also decided no more colours for me and to embrace the grey, and I absolutely love it. Underneath the dye and the highlights the natural colour is fabulous, and I feel quite trendy for the first time ever!

I have grown out my colour and have been cutting it myself. It looks much better than I had expected. So next Tuesday I will be having a good haircut but no more four-weekly £50+ colours(including cut and blow dry) which I would have been doing for at least the next ten years(God willing). Apparently my haircut ,shampoo and blow dry will cost £33.00 so long term I will be saving at least £250.00 per year.

Friday week for me! Can't wait - but I'll have to . A friend is a hairdresser who works from her home so perhaps not as many regulations. Must phone to ask if I need to bring a towel or two and a comb.
Like many, I'm thinking about a new style, especially as my fringe has grown out and general family opinion is they prefer it that way! I'm not so sure. At least I don't need to worry about colour: despite being past 70 I still only have about a dozen grey hairs - thank you parents!

Next Tuesday!!! Can't wait.
I just wish I had resisted cutting my own fringe!
Luckily my hairdresser is also a friend of mine so she won't nag me- but it will give her a laugh!

Have mine today and been asked to take own towels with me.

Am I the only GN who is waiting for the "rush" to die down before booking a hair appointment? (At the moment I just can't be ar**ed, as we say 'oop north....)

I am also waiting for the rush to die down even though my last appointment was cancelled during the first week of lockdown. I have been growing out layers and trimming it myself with a little help from DH round the back and it really does not look too bad. Call me over cautious but three of the pubs opened last Saturday have already had to close through a customer developing Covid afterwards.

This afternoon. Yippee!

This time next week I will be in the chair having my colour done followed by a hair mask and a cut - cannot wait. Big tip coming up for my hairdresser who will be knee deep in my cut hair.

I had my hair cut on Sunday; hairdresser wore a visor thing but I wasn't asked to wear anything. Also they didn't make sure that I used the gel at the entrance - I saw it and then forgot it was there as I had to park my wheelchair and it went out of my head. My name and phone number were taken because of the track and trace thing.
But my head felt so much better afterwards, lighter and I felt human again!

I went yesterday, and although my hair has had a light trim, I was really getting used to it being a bit longer. My stylist has said that many people are deciding not to colour their hair now. Everything is very clinical now and not as relaxed as we were used to.

My hair does need cutting as my usual style is short pixie type cut. My hairdresser phoned me and l have an appointment on Friday afternoon. Usually it is something to look forward to and to enjoy. It will be 30+minutes on the bus wearing my mask. The hairdressers has had to put a lot of procedures in place to make clients and staff safe. No drinks talking as little as possible not to use the loo. I'm not looking forward to going at all. I hope the toilets are open in the bus station.

Had mine done yesterday. Feel so much better. Fully masked staff, only me waiting Hand sanitizer and wipes just inside door and almost straight In kept my mask on, Everything used straight in bin for wash.Whole area sprayed before next appointment. I felt quite safe and so much better when I came out with hair cut and dried.

Next Thursday. Have been putting on my makeup using a tiny mirror just so I don’t have to look at my hair!!! Upside is it’s grown so long I now have enough for a different style.

Disposable towels are probably for the best, rather than damp towels sitting around waiting to be washed and dried.

Got my done on Saturday and am so happy. Only a small salon so had to wait outside until my hairdresser was ready. All precautions in place and they were constantly cleaning chairs, basins, door handles and absolutely every surface. Great admiration for what our hairdressers are doing in difficult times.

It's not so much the length of mine, but the texture. It has become straw like, but flyway, a strange combination. I am expecting miracles from this poor girl. One thing I am concerned about with salons; all this disposable towels nonsense, surely a new clean towel is used for every client in normal times anyway, and when thrown into a 90 degree wash ( stylist wearing disposable gloves) that is going to kill covid19 and not fill landfill with more disposable stuff than is necessary.

6 days to go 9 am Sunday morning I can’t wait everyone tells me how nice my hair looks and it’s in great condition but I hate feeling it I like to not know it’s there once I start feeling it blowing around it’s toooo darned long

Two weeks to go for me but I can’t wait.

Just had mine, what a relief! Apparently guidance for hairdressers was changed on Friday, now customers don't have to wear a mask, but hairdressers must wear transparent face shields and single use plastic aprons per customer.

Don't take a coat unless you are prepared to hold it on your lap, as they can't take those. No coffee or magazines of course. Only three people in the shop, kept well apart.

Each gown is washed after use, and chairs etc wiped down between customers. No towels round necks, just a paper cloth. I did get my hair dried with a towel, but didn't touch it and it was thrown straight in the wash.

I feel for hairdressers, after months of no income, they now have to pay for all this PPE. Prices have gone up by 10%, but I can't blame them.
