We had a few glitches last evening so gave up Same old problem Megs; disappearing messages!
Weather OK today, but still that chilly SE wind; quite warm out of it at the back of the house facing North.

I’m always looking out for non-Covid info, but maybe a few of you with rellies “Down Under” could be interested in anything I can dig up apart from TV News. VIC had 238 new cases and a further (elderly) death yesterday. NSW is also back in the fray with a hot-spot pub situated on a busy highway.
Our “School for Seniors” (no scandal!) is starting daily Zoom lessons from next week to counter this second wave. Something each day, Yoga, exercises, cooking, coffee &chat etc. Hope it doesn’t get overloaded and crash.
My “Oldie” July copy arrived today. Two items caught my eye;
News item that donkeys will return to reopened beaches from Weymouth to Barmouth. The article says that donkeys are better behaved than horses or mules. I was looking for a comment on the recent shenanigans on Bournemouth beaches when it referenced donkeys, but it’s presented dead pan! confused
The other is a cartoon showing a banner “Homeschool Parents’ Evening” with a couple reclining flat out on a sofa clutching a bottle and glasses! grin

Grandmabatty Whilst I’m catching up with my backlog of English mags. I came across an article in “This England”; a quarterly, Autumn 2019, entitled “Jam Today” and I immediately thought of you! It’s a fascinating account of a preserve- manufacturing company in Essex and something I’ve never heard of before.
Being a jam making specialist you probably know all about “Wilkin&Son”, but just in case, take a look at www.tiptree.com. It’s full of history and accounts of what they do; personalised jars of practically everything; “Fancy a personalised jar of “Thick Cut”! hmm

Anybody read all those letters released yesterday?
I read a couple of very brief summaries by journalists, but “glazed over”! I was never very attentive at History lessons at school. As with English Lit and Shakespeare, it was boring the way it was presented. and now I’m learning so much more from Dr. Google!
Watch it! Remember there are many retired teachers in GN! Ouch! shock
Question! Why are some of my “Documents” folder files now opening with what looks like Russian text| Have I been hacked by spies? A job for our Technology thread!
Hope this message gets away successfully this time!

Good Health wine wine wine

Thank you Rufus2 for the link. I'll certainly have a look at all things jam. I made more apricot jam yesterday and I'm waiting for the gooseberries to ripen as that is my favourite. I have to divulge something here: I am a retired English teacher! I tried every way I could to make it interesting though. I bought finger puppets and the pupils would use them to act out Shakespeare plays. Every time I taught a play, we all had costumes or they made cardboard daggers etc. Anyway, it's not everyone's favourite subject, I realise,so I won't hold a grudge ?. It's good that they are putting more activities on zoom to entertain people. I'm not great at using zoom. I've had a busy two days babysitting do today was a quiet one. Just a chat on WhatsApp with pals. Tomorrow I have to buy a pair of decent black shoes for a funeral on Friday then I'm having friends to the garden in the afternoon. Take care x

Hello Rufus,
This is my first time posting to you.
I currently live in Brittany, France but am an ex-pat from many years in Scotland but born in the hub of the universe, nr LIVERPOOL, Southport.
Just wanted to say “hello”.
My DH played cricket professionally for Lancashire and is paying the price now, having had hip, knee and vertebrae ops!!!
I often follow your posts and wish you well!
Although it’s still thought to be strange for a female I am an avid footie fan. EVERTON for me although DH loves and supports Bolton Wanderers and saw (Sir) Nat Lofthouse play many times.
Sending good wishes to you Rufus. You’ll never find me on the political threads... I couldn’t be ollied. Bonsoir mon ami
