Radio 2’s Ken Bruce says he thinks the BBC management needs culling.

I like KB.

Sir Kenneth of Bruce! He's the best presenter at the BBC by far - the management should start listening to what he says, he's been there long enough to know what he's talking about.

Zoe Ball and Jeremy Vine both need sacking. Ball is useless and Vine for being the biggest leftie on the BBC.

I loathe Jeremy Vine but he surely isn't a leftie. He's an opinionated, self centred, arrogant metropolitan snob. Hear the way he speaks to people who appear or phone in to his show.
Friends who heard him as an after dinner speaker report he was rude and dismissive about the people who listen and call into his lunch time topical phone in show.

I listen to Johnnie Walker on Sunday afternoon. He plays great music, interviews his guests in a friendly manner and is an all round good radio DJ

Exactly Iam64

I agree with Urms too Ken Bruce is one if the best radio presenters ever.

I mostly listen to local radio these days and some American stations on line (for the music) .

Love Ken Bruce, Johnny Walker, even Jeremy Vine - who hasn’t been getting a good press here, generally! Cannot abide Liza Tarbuck - she thinks she’s so funny, but isn’t, but that’s my opinion. Those irritating pauses of hers - grrrrrrh! I switch off when she comes on. And as for Vanessa Feltz!! Loves the sound of her own voice and cuts people off when talking to them in a very unprofessional way. She’s also much too wordy! I love the music on a radio 2, although I sometimes feel they are playing the same thing over and over again - there’s so much to go at, why keep playing the same stuff?. I really enjoyed Simon Mayo’s Drivetime show and when they teamed him up with Jo Whiley it just didn’t work. Awkward, clunky, embarrassing almost. Getting used to Sara Cox (it’s taken a while!), but I do get irritated when she says to people “very nice”. Reading this back, I think I need to try some other radio stations!

Mostly I miss Simon Mayo, cannot stand his replacement, Sarah Cox.

Jeremy Vine is a person who is clever enough to fit whatever personality is required of him and doesn't mind making an idiot of himself, all for the sake of fame and money. I often wonder why he is so keen on slightly distasteful subjects at a time when most of us are having lunch!!

Have given up listening first thing in the morning, didn't like Chris Evans, neither do I like Zoe Ball so don't turn on till 9.30am.

Yes, love listening to Ken Bruce and Johnny Walker. I also used to enjoy listening to Liza Tarbuck on Saturdays, but she seems to have changed lately.

Such a shame that Radio 2 has been dumbed down, supposedly to attract a younger audience who don't listen to the radio anyway. I need a mixture of music and chat in my life.

Like ken bruce with his pop master quiz each day, radio is turned to radio whilst Jeremy vine is on.
Sunday is my favourite radio day, Steve wright sunday love songs, then Michael Ball. ..Elaine paige following spoils it...her laugh grates !
Then lovely Johnny and Tiggy walker 70s show, followed by Paul ogrady.

He's very excitable.
I like his brother though.

lemongrove Wed 22-Jul-20 14:38:37

I really like Ken Bruce. Can’t stand Jeremy Vine, find him very irritating on whatever programme he is presenting.
Had no idea he was left wing or anything else.

Callistemon Wed 22-Jul-20 14:26:55

Shhh! I like Steve Wright too

Not that I listen often

Poppyred Wed 22-Jul-20 12:07:47

Funny how we are all different. I love Steve Wright, not that keen on Ken Bruce. I tolerate Jeremy Vine just... but when Vanessa Feltz takes over I have to switch off! Her blatant left wing beliefs and the snooty way she speaks to people who don’t hold the same views beggars belief!

Callistemon Wed 22-Jul-20 11:54:02

What!?

I must admit I rarely listen, except when driving which I haven't done much lately.

Gajahgran Wed 22-Jul-20 11:52:44

I think he is going to be replaced by Simon Mayo. We cannot even have one presenter we like.

Callistemon Wed 22-Jul-20 11:50:52

Brave man

I really hope that they don't cull him.

CassieJ Wed 22-Jul-20 11:46:34

Ken Bruce is great, I really enjoy listening to him. Steve Wright needs to go as well as Sara Cox.
I can't understand why we have to have Alan Carr and Melanie Sykes on either -- can't stand either of them
Jeremy Vine used to be okay, but he is too full of himself now, doesn't allow anyone else to talk.

Love Tony Blackburn and Jonny Walker. Zoe Ball doesn't bother me, she is better than Chris Evans who again got far too full of himself.

farview Wed 22-Jul-20 09:33:49

Another Ken Bruce fan...also like Tony Blackburn, Sarah Cox and Paul O'Grady...not a Jeremy Vine fan..he sits on the fence instead of giving opinions

wendyann23 Wed 22-Jul-20 09:32:56

Like Ken Bruce, Steve Wright, Tony Blackburn and the Saturday afternoon show Pick of the Pops. No opinion on Jeremy Vine. But Zoe Ball is soooooo irritating. If she says telly box one more time......
Try and remember to switch to Chris Evans now.
Still miss Terry though, He was in a league of his own.

Galaxy Wed 22-Jul-20 08:39:17

Yes I think radio 2 is really poor at the moment.

Pudding123 Wed 22-Jul-20 08:33:19

I think Radio2 needs a complete shakeup, can not stand Steve Wright, he is well past his sell by date .Each time he reads out a listener's text he makes sure they all say 'love the show Steve' he is so cheesy he really makes me cringe.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 22-Jul-20 07:54:38

ug your support if Farage shows us where you are on the political spectrum.

Most people will be to your left.

Gajahgran Wed 22-Jul-20 07:36:41

PS also miss Terry Wogan and his terrible jokes. Used to cheer me up on my way to work.

Gajahgran Wed 22-Jul-20 07:33:59

I think Ken Bruce is correct the BBC is too top heavy. It appears to me that they have a left bias. I do hope that speaking out will not result in the sane voice of Ken Bruce being victim to the current cancel culture.

I cannot stand Jeremy Vine. I used to like his show but cannot listen to it now. He is constantly pushing his lefty views and is now more blatent about it. He talks down to older people.
I did not like Chris Evans but Zoe Ball is even worse. I have to turn the radio off when Ball and Vine and their ilk are on.

But Ken Bruce ...... love him, give him a knighthood!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 22-Jul-20 07:32:19

Another Ken Bruce groupie here ??

sodapop Wed 22-Jul-20 07:12:10

I still miss Terry as well PaperMonster he accompanied me through so many stages of my life.

PaperMonster Wed 22-Jul-20 07:07:33

Ken Bruce is great. Also love Zoe Ball and Jeremy Vine. But by crikey, I still miss Terry. I have to do a fair bit of driving normally in my job and R2 presenters are my driving companions. WFH I don’t bother with the radio as I’m on video calls a fair bit.

Eloethan Wed 22-Jul-20 00:03:19

Watch the Jeremy Vine show on Channel 5 on a regular basis and it will confirm that he is absolutely NOT left wing. I can't imagine how he has managed to become so highly paid and get so much work, except that perhaps he is the sort of presenter who knows when to throw in a populist comment or two and when to keep his mouth shut.

I think the show was much better when it was The Wright Stuff, presented by Matthew Wright. He could be a bit overbearing at times and I sometimes disagreed quite strongly with his opinions but I much preferred his sometimes brusque manner to what I believe to be the forced geniality or Vine.

maddyone Tue 21-Jul-20 23:57:29

Ken Bruce is right.

Peardrop50 Tue 21-Jul-20 22:29:31

Another vote here for Ken Bruce, lovely man and so easy to listen to.
Used to have some respect for Jimmy Young too, probably be labelled a misogynist these days but his political interviews were so well balanced and he let people finish their point without interruption, unheard of today. Can't abide Jeremy Vine, so far up his own derriere and more re-inventions than Madonna with his silly shirts and appearance on Strictly.
I miss Terry Wogan too, my constant companion on my drive to work in the morning, always a giggle somewhere.
Ahhh the good old days.
