A consultant on TV this morning said you can’t cycle calories away. You have to cut down on the calories.

I did WW once, never stayed to the talks, I just needed someone to weigh me!

I put on a few pounds earlier this year so am doing the 5:2. I only eat in the evening and I don’t have a problem with that. A couple of people have already mentioned that it’s not a diet, it’s a lifetime eating plan. If the weight starts to creep up again then get it off straight away.

If you go into weight loss with the feeling you are being punished and deprived you will find it difficult however you choose to do it.

I think that I am reasonably slim, I am 5.5 and now I’m 10st10lbs, I was 11.4. I looked at a chart and discovered I was right on the line between healthy weight and overweight. Had to do something.
I do look after my gut health and eat good food. Something of everything, just not too much.

Inactivity and comfort eating has piled on the pounds - I look and feel terrible , I'm ashamed to be seen !
However I gave myself a shake and started the eating plan that was hugely successful a couple of years ago LCHF . I started on Friday and am feeling less stodgy today so I feel better already , i hope I continue .....

Yes but when is Slimming World going to open again????. I am missing and can't hear to do it on line. I can turn up in my mask. If the whole country needs to loose weight we will need SW and WW.

Totally agree Fatbirdslim. The road to permanent weight loss is a lifestyle change. We tried low carb but it didn't work for us because we missed carbs too much and began to crave them. We eat a nothing banned but move more diet. Well I suppose in a way it's calorie controlled but those figures are really for guidance until you get into the swing of it. Most days we eat 'healthily' but if we go out for a meal or other celebration we eat what we fancy. A diet that ruins your life is a diet that won't last. Permanent weight loss is about changing your lifestyle not about making yourself miserable.

The only way to lose weight and keep it off is not to 'diet' but to change the way you eat. And to want to do it, not just feel you need to.
My husband has a heart problem and was told by his consultant at the hospital to lose weight. He was told to do this eating a low carb diet, as a low fat diet will not have a lasting effect.
Was a bit strange at first as it is very different to the way we are brought up to eat in the UK and appears to go against everything we have been told about 'healthy eating' in the last 20 years, but as the heart consultatnt said, its not a coincidence that the UK's obesity rate has risen so high in the same period...
Within 3 weeks I lost a stone. Within the last year I have lost 4 stone. My husband has now lost over 4 stone and he started after me!
Its a good way to eat, tasty and fills you up. We recommend it smile

I found SW to be very friendly and all ages attended. Unfortunately it didn't work for me after three months I was exactly the same as my first weigh in.

The 5:2 plan, if it suits you, is a healthy and effective lifestyle choice. I’ve followed it from the start, but I know others don’t find it easy to fast.

There is a variation, the 16:8, that suits some people better.

I’ve done Slimming world successfully, there are all ages, some people find the incentive of a weekly weigh in easier and a lot like the friendship, help and information exchange useful in a group.

Join MyFitnessPal. It's free, has advice, a food diary app, weight loss and calorie suggestions and a good community forum.

Slimming world is fine for any age group. I lost 4 stone and was 62 when I started. All very friendly.

I did sliming world once , but paying someone to monitor your weight ,slimming world have products in Iceland .
What I do myself being diabetes 2 is each morning at home when I get after the toilet I weigh myself on the scales and then once a week I record it on excel using kilos to do it .
Other options is the NHS BMI chart this is a height and weight chart you put in details s required and it shows you with colours your weight and whether you are overweight or obese .

I need to loose weight, I thought about joining WW or Slimming World but they seem to be aimed at people so much younger than me. Has anyone any suggestions?
