soop Fri 28-Aug-20 16:16:16

GrannyGravy I so admire your seemingly boundless get up and go. smile

anno Yes, I do like the baby's name. His Dutch surname is Snaathorst.
Sorry to hear that you have an infection and feel down in the dumps. Perhaps a few hours in the ladies recovery conservatory, will help to boost your spirits. I shall also send a virtual (hug) for good measure.

Grandmabatty Sweet anticipation. Monday at your house, will be a special day.

Thank you, corner. We are having home cooked fish and chips with our bubble buddies this evening. It was to have been last Friday but our friend needed to reschedule. In a way, it's nicer to have company tonight as it's been a very happy day.

Grandmabatty Fri 28-Aug-20 15:23:43

Congratulations Soop what a beautiful big baby and a lovely family. I've just been shopping with dd and dgs and bought some Christmas stuff and toys for the boy. He was not impressed when I lifted them out of the car but he'll get them on Monday at my house. Have a lovely weekend all.

cornergran Fri 28-Aug-20 15:10:10

Many congratulations to you all soop.

annodomini Fri 28-Aug-20 15:01:15

Congratulations great granny, Soop. That's a good healthy weight and a good name - if he's half as nice as my Toby, he will be a delight.
I'd vote for a conservatory for 'recovering ladies'. The dentist cemented my crown but an infection crept in and I had to ring up and ask for an antibiotic which is making me nauseous, therefore sorry for myself. Normally a prize sleeper, last night was horrible and now I am tired and grumpy. Luckily I have no-one to take it out on!

GrannyGravy13 Fri 28-Aug-20 14:10:32

Congratulations soop a new baby brings such joy and love with their arrival ??

I am about to shower and have a nap my day so far .......a quick swoop round our Sainsbury’s local, Chemist to pick up more beds for my skin infection, PiYo class at the gym and then looking after my 3 yr old GD and her 11 month old brother who has just started walking. I think my age is catching up with me ??

annsixty how upsetting for you and your neighbours, those poor souls must have been in despair.

Take care kitcheners ?‍♀️

soop Fri 28-Aug-20 13:29:37

Thank you for your kind messages. It was not an easy birth - but - our granddaughter, with the help of the maternity staff, overcame the problem without the need of surgical intervention.

Daddy is Dutch. He was a large baby. Lauren is my build. Gritty with it. grin

Doodle Fri 28-Aug-20 12:34:53

grandmafrench thank you for your kind thoughts. I’ll share my Magnums with you if you run out ?
soop what exciting news. Welcome to the world little Toby.
hellogirl good news about your son.
nannytopsy sorry I missed your post about your DH. His poor legs. I do hope he gets better pain relief.
Have a good day all.

Charleygirl5 Fri 28-Aug-20 12:24:05

So pleased he has arrived but the weight- he could almost have walked out!

Two very proud parents.

My TV has been "no signal" since the start of the very hot weather- please do not ask me why I have left it until today to get somebody to hopefully repair it for me. He is coming later this pm.

If he gets it working it will make such a change not carting my supper and coffee upstairs each evening to watch TV in my bedroom. I may open a bottle of wine as a celebration but that may be a step too far, especially if the TV has died.

Now my washing is ready to be hung out the sunshine has vanished.

Greyduster Fri 28-Aug-20 12:20:32

Congratulations to the happy parents and to you and MacS, Soop. Good weight, nice name. May he have a happy, healthy life!

Grandmafrench Fri 28-Aug-20 11:46:08

Oh bless. How wonderful. Presumably (not so little) Toby is going to add to the run of great lookers in your family, soop. Bet you are thrilled - and relieved. A tiny kiss for the little chap from me. x

soop Fri 28-Aug-20 11:29:43

Toby Marinus was born at 02:51 weighing in at 9lbs 11oz. Oh happy day!!!! sunshine

soop Thu 27-Aug-20 17:44:01

My messaging was cut short. MacSporran needed the computer. I could not log off without saying the usual farewell. I hope to have exciting news to share with you in the morning. wink

Love to all. smile moon

soop Thu 27-Aug-20 17:23:37

hmm That baby is still in the process of making an entrance. Or so I believe. I have sent a text to my son to apologise (for being a busy body) and wanting yet another update. Maybe this evening...she says, with a fixed grin on her face. I shall not be able to sleep tonight until I know that all is accomplished and all is well.

ann I read the news regarding the tragic deaths of the couple who live near you. It's so sad. Could it be that one was really poorly and the couple made a pact? No matter, they were both reasonably young in years. They could have shared many more years together. Perhaps we shouldn't speculate. We cannot know what happens beyond closed doors.

Oh, Susan, you can be assured of a chaise when you need one. I shall reserve one with a sea view. Watching the waves can be very relaxing.

Dear Doodle flowers

anno If I had a fortune, (far from it) and the nerve, (ditto) I would invest in an upgrade of my teeth. They are all "my own" but a number are crooked, chipped and frankly of no use to man nor beast. Hey ho!

Nannyt Please may your husband be given the care he deserves. He has suffered for far too long.

Grandmafrench We purchase eight Magnums today. So there! They are locked in our freezer. wink

Hellogirl1 The latest news of your son will have been a relief to you all. sunshine

I've received a message from our friend's mother. She will remain in hospital in Glasgow, which is a very long way to drive from our village. We all feel that we will not be having our friend return home. Her husband is ninety, has had two recent strokes, he is being cared for by the family who also live in the village.

Susan56 Thu 27-Aug-20 16:46:10

Grandmafrench, lunch was lovely.DH and SIL sampled the local brew so are now nodding off in the conservatory.DD1 and Henry have gone home but Matilda decided she needed to stay. She is so used to staying here and considers it her house so felt she had to stay to keep an eye on DD2,SIL and particularly her little cousin. The sharing of toys has not been going particularly well?

Hope MacS is continuing to recover and that Mr NT has been seen by the dermatologist.

Can I reserve a chaise in the conservatory for recovering ladies please. It will probably be tomorrow evening before I have finished clearing up after the children?

Looking forward to hearing the news about the baby soop.Very exciting.

Sorry for such an all over the place post.I’m shattered?

Oh, now you're talking Izabella and soop. Sounds like just my sort of conservatory - I think it must also have some palms to further gentrify if we are going to have a grand piano man. Lovely.

However.....a wee warning to Magnum buyers, if there is another lockdown and if there is a Magnum shortage, I shall know where to go to complain. I'm due for mine in a few minutes, but tell no one!

NannyT what a horror. I am so sad for your DH. Not quite the way to get a Dermo appointment, but it looks like it is long overdue. May he get the proper treatment and be comfortable again, soon. So lovely to read your Shire bulletin again, Izabella. Keep on keeping on - and safe, please.

Susan how did lunch at the brewery go? See, I am already trying to ruin your good reputation. You'll now have to explain yourself - or not, possibly. grin

Charleygirl - good to have that on your CV., "I am a really good nagger!" Maybe life with your young lodger has honed your skills.

Hope you are well and soldiering on Doodle. Hoping that life will be extremely kind to you for a while.

Waiting for a baby, how exciting. Shall we run a sweepstake...boy or girl? (or just a baby? grin We shall expect hot off the presses newsflash a.s.a.p.

Take care Kitcheners !

Grandmabatty Thu 27-Aug-20 15:45:36

Soop fingers crossed for a safe, fast delivery.

soop Thu 27-Aug-20 13:12:12

Izabella Your splendid suggestion for a conservatory for recovering ladies could not have come at a better time. I've ordered a selection of chaise longues and a few perfumed candles...together with a daily delivery of fresh flowers. We shall have a wee cabinet in which we'll keep a selection of crystal decanters containing lady-like tipples. Not forgetting Magnum ice creams and handmade chocolates. We may even employ a pianist to play soothing tunes on the grand piano. Have I missed anything important?

Our granddaughter's waters broke in the early hours. Gentle contractions signify hoped for good, celebratory news before the end of the day. Yay!

Izabella Thu 27-Aug-20 11:35:52

Also perhaps a conservatory for recovering ladies?

Izabella Thu 27-Aug-20 11:34:03

My goodness, so much angst in the kitchen at the moment. I sincerely hope everyone can find the recovery route and access it at their own pace. MacS reminds me of my mother,. She was blind but insisted on being independent and doing things. Caused everyone else so much hassle, some injuries. Strong words were largely ignored until the hip #.

So what a difference a day makes in the Shire. Yesterday I watched a gathering of great tits and long tailed tits flitting in and out of the trees, chattering loudly and seemingly competing to land in the smallest space between leaves. Their acrobatics were a joy to watch and brought a smile to my face. This morning? Zilch, birdwise. Even the crows are elsewhere. There is an air of expectation out there - but I know not what of.

Brainwise - a good patch. And yes perhaps the ward for recalcitrant men needs taking out of mothballs.

Please take care all and continue to make my days with the lovely photos.

annodomini Wed 26-Aug-20 22:59:28

Ann, what a nasty shock for you and the other residents in your road. It's a tragedy and maybe no-one will ever know the full history.
Last night one of my front crowned teeth fell out. I shoved it back in and hoped I wouldn't choke on it. Today it fell out again in the shower. The dentist managed to fit me in and cemented it as what will probably be a temporary measure. I have another appointment in three weeks. Oh joy!
Sympathies to all the DHs in pain. Is our 'men's ward' soon to be re-opened?

Nannytopsy Wed 26-Aug-20 22:27:46

Thank you all for your good wishes for DH. He is going to ask for more powerful painkillers tomorrow but he does try to avoid them if he can. What awful news Ann and a few poorlies in the kitchen. Do we need to open a ward again? Any volunteers for Matron?
My iron survived and worked really well today! Three baskets later ... ?.
Sleep well everyone!

Hellogirl1 Wed 26-Aug-20 22:06:40

Soop, apologies, I thought I`d mentioned your friend yesterday, but obviously now I read back, I omitted to, so I`m really sorry. These things happen alarmingly quickly, poor lady.
Ann, what dreadfully sad news about your neighbours. The story smacks of desperation, was one of them seriously ill?
My son has heard the result of his recent MRI, it was favourable, and he`ll soon be able to go back on his cancer treatment. Relief all round.
I`ve just had my Tesco delivery, the first night time one, I`ve decided I prefer daytime deliveries, but beggars can`t be choosers.

Doodle Wed 26-Aug-20 19:32:27

Oops. Sorry anno I am sure Big Max is lovely as is hello’s little Max too ?
soop and ann sorry to hear your sad and shocking news,
Maw I read that article too.
To all those feeling sad or under the weather. Thinking of you all. Hope things improve soon. Take care

Charleygirl5 Wed 26-Aug-20 18:57:54

ann they are so young- comparing their ages with some of us lot! So sad.

corner I am a really good nagger but no doubt Mr. C would feign deafness.

Will you have to return to work to pay for the treatment?

I do hope that MacSporran is healing. Maybe he has learned the error of his ways, albeit the hard way. It could have been a lot worse.

NannyT those legs sound incredibly painful. Could you buy a stronger pain relief over the counter or ask his GP for help? It is not unreasonable.

N&G not pleasant- an early night may possibly help.
TOYA

Susan56 Wed 26-Aug-20 18:54:53

Sorry your friend has deteriorated so quickly soop and also for the shocking events in your road Ann.I agree that lockdown has caused an increase in depression and mental health problems.

Hope that MacS and Mr NT are both soon on the mend.
