A silly question soop but do you have a shoe raise- if not why not? That should help you.

Galen how come you are the wrong side of that door?!

soop Thu 20-Aug-20 15:48:47

Callistemon I've a lateral curvature of the spine. One leg is about an inch shorter than the other. The shorter leg turns inward and I quite often trip myself up. It's called a buggeration. wink

Callistemon Thu 20-Aug-20 15:36:41

So far this year, I've fallen half a dozen times. I know that this sounds silly but, I fear that it will be a fall that finally finishes me off.

Oh dear, soop I'm quite good at falling too but always have been even when younger. Some of it, I know, is down to lack of concentration and being too hasty. It gets worse now my brain is ahead of my movements.

Take care

Galen Thu 20-Aug-20 15:34:20

No. For real.?

MawB2 Thu 20-Aug-20 15:28:55

Boasting again? ???

Galen Thu 20-Aug-20 15:27:25

I’ve just had a man locked in my downstairs toilet!

soop Thu 20-Aug-20 14:33:56

And why not, Charleyg. Simple pleasures are few and far between.

I have used a voucher that middle son gave me for my birthday on a delicious looking pair of 'Rieker' shoes. They fit perfectly. In fact, I'm wearing them right now.

Charleygirl5 Thu 20-Aug-20 14:27:21

soop I agree, you and I need to get out more. I am getting excited about my hair appointment on Monday!

soop Thu 20-Aug-20 13:20:27

Charleyg I lead a sheltered life. New dusters, dish cloths, pan scrubs...I love them all.

Nannytopsy Although I have naturally curly hair, just recently it has resembled a tight perm. I blame the humidity and Brexit.

Susan I promise, you have nothing to fear. The dentist isn't allowed to squirt cold water or air into the teeth. Last time that happened, I almost went into orbit. The tooth is treated gently and, as I reported, there was no pain.

Hellogirl1 We know that your family gathering in the garden will be a hugely happy event.

GrannyGravy and Callistemon So far this year, I've fallen half a dozen times. I know that this sounds silly but, I fear that it will be a fall that finally finishes me off. shock

Naturally I went out shopping yesterday when it was tipping it down with rain and today the sun is out. Still, My solar panels will heat up the water and I can hang my washing out as soon as the machine stops.

I have brand new dusters, untouched by human hand here so I may see what they are like.

Nannytopsy Wed 19-Aug-20 22:57:50

Evening all! I have just come to bed to find that everything feels damp, even the bathroom floor and the quilt. I think our 92% humidity might be to blame. Roll on tomorrow with a warm day forecast!
SiL arrived with her dogs so we shall head off to the beach tomorrow. I hope I can sleep all though the night - I keep waking with a stiff neck. Dodgy pillows perhaps?
Love to hear from you Panache and best wishes to you and MrP.
Sleep well everyone.

Charleygirl5 Wed 19-Aug-20 21:24:18

I bank with Santander and today I managed to lock my card because birdbrain forgot her PIN number. Amazingly I was given the amount of money I wanted to withdraw- I am certain my last bank would have sent me packing.

I also managed to get a hair appointment for Monday so I need to get one for my feet.

My upstairs loo desperately needs a plumber because the button for flushing has come adrift- just marvellous.
TOYA

Susan56 Wed 19-Aug-20 18:03:56

soop, having your teeth fixed without drilling sounds perfect to me.I am another who is terrified of the dentist.I have an appointment next month but am already having moments of panic?

Lovely to hear from you panche but sorry you and Mr P are having more health issues.Sending much love to you both.x

Enjoy your get together callgirl.Fingers crossed the weather is fine.

Glad you had a successful shopping trip GrannyGravy.

annodomini your delivery man scenario gave me a much needed chuckle?

TOYA

GrannyGravy13 Wed 19-Aug-20 17:47:51

I have no idea how dear turned to fear or where the birthday cake came from ?

Hellogirl1 Wed 19-Aug-20 17:38:45

Shopping delivered and all put away.
Soop, good to hear that you had an untroublesome trip to the dentist. I`m so terrified of them that I haven`t been near a dentist since 1986!
As long as the weather plays ball, there is a family gathering at daughter 3`s house on Sunday. Well, to be precise, in her back garden, large enough for us to be suitably distanced. We had a similar meet up in June, we sat in a large circle on the lawn. Looking forward to it.

Callistemon Wed 19-Aug-20 16:57:57

Falls really do shake you up even if you don't break/dislocate/bruise anything. Some TLC is required.

flowers brew ??

GrannyGravy13 Wed 19-Aug-20 16:54:11

Galen and soop so sorry to hear that you have both had falls. I always wonder what age do we stop tripping up / falling over and enter into the world of falls ?

I hope you are both resting ???

I along with GrandpaGravy, DD and two GSs ventured out to our county town today, I was nervous but within ten minutes of browsing in The White Company apart from the masks it was almost like pre-Covid (items were purchased). It was our first time into proper shops since early March!!!

We then went to get GS school shoes and on into M & S, came home exhausted ?

Sending virtual (((hugs))) to the fear Panaches you both seem to clear one hurdle only to find the next one even bigger ?????

soop Wed 19-Aug-20 16:52:32

Have been to dentist and had two teeth "fixed" without the drill and all that painful palaver. Extractions and fillings aren't allowed. The temporary "fixture" will hopefully suffice until the dentist can do a proper job. I'm happy enough.

Have done more dead heading and almost enjoyed it, until I started being feasted upon by midges and a black fly that drew blood. Elected to return indoors to say farewell to you dear Granspals. Until we meet again tomorrow. Take good care of yourselves. smile moon

Hellogirl1 Wed 19-Aug-20 16:36:36

What a gorgeous photo of the lovely little Henry!
I`ll have to vacate my position here in a mo, just had a call from the Tesco delivery man, he`s delivering earlier than expected, in a couple of minutes, so see you later!

soop Wed 19-Aug-20 13:19:48

Grandmafrench Seize the day...indeed we shall endeavor to do so. Let us continue to help each other as best we can. smile

Charleygirl5 Wed 19-Aug-20 13:13:50

soop that lady was so young.

soop unfortunately you can slowly loosen the hip joint. Somehow we must keep you upright!

Susan Henry is a handsome young man and I think he knows it. He has been such a good fellow but that is now hopefuly over for a while. At least you have a proper diagnosis now and can work around it.

soop Wed 19-Aug-20 13:13:10

anno Ha! That will have made the delivery persons' day.

Dearest Panache Never apologise to us lot. You are an amazing lady and we are in awe of what you and your husband deal with on an every day basis. You both deserve a break from all your worries and worsening health issues. If I could wave a magic wand and wish your stresses well away, I most surely would. sunshine flowers smile

soop Wed 19-Aug-20 13:06:05

Good afternoon lovely peoples. The sun continues to shine in bonnie Kintyre and there is a light, refreshing breeze.

Susan Our Little Henry is a super star. That smile! Those eyes! He is a beautiful wee boy. Now that you have a proper diagnosis, let's hope that he'll not have any more nasty setbacks. He has been through a grim few months for one so young. flowers

The lady who died was only forty five. We knew her father until he died and from thereon, she has taken such good care of her mother. The villagers are rallying and she has other family support at the moment from people living some distance away. I have spoken with her. She is a strong spirited lady, but the death of her daughter will leave a huge gap in her life.

Hellogirl1 Please keep us updated. sunshine

Nannytopsy If a job's worth doing, it's worth breaking a mop to prove your point. grin

Doodle As per, the bruising is clustered around the hip bone. Thankfully, the joints have stayed intact. It's a buggeration that I seem doomed to experience on a fairly regular basis.

annodomini Wed 19-Aug-20 12:36:39

A very dreich day here where I am spending a few days with DS1 who has had to go out to work. My GD2 is here as well. I'd been having a shower and was wrapped only in a towel when GD summoned me to tell me there was someone at the door who needed a date of birth - DS had warned me that this would happen as he had ordered something with a blade (!). I sallied down to the door, wrapped in the said towel and duly gave the slightly embarrassed courier my DoB. If it had been only a month later, my GD could have legally given hers as she will then be 18.

Panache Wed 19-Aug-20 12:18:07

About time I made an appearance and yes I need to apologise for the gap, again health and its many issues for us both have taken its toll on normal everyday living, still not nearly "out of the woods" with both of us awaiting a series of scans etc.........and therefore yet more treatments .

However you are not forgotten and it saddens me greatly to read of your yet another fall Soop, you are certainly having a run of health issues and how I agree with the well known fact, old age does not come alone!
Take it easy and give your body time to heal.Always such a shock to the system.

So sorry hearing of the death of a dear lady within your caring community, she will surely be very much missed.

Certainly hopeful and helpful having a clear diagnoses for young Henry Susan, and another jolly photo to add to the gallery!

Perhaps in time I will again catch up with you all,but somehow these marathon of appointments are very wearing and I loose control of time, even forgetting which day of the week it is!
Thinking about you neverthgeless, and sending blessing in abundance, stay safe.
