Hi Rufus I've been reading with some alarm about the outbreak (or second wave) in your part of the world, and I can only say if you have outbreaks god help us! You had lockdown and closing of international and national borders, you have set rules and fines and yet this is happening! I think it's only a matter of time and we'll be in the same boat! Stay safe ?

Thanks Rufus , not actually .till 27th, interesting your Anniversary and all the good wishes you got, our relatives in NZ had similar but they included a card from The Queen! How did she remember I wonder ??.
All the news of Corona is very worrying, as to panic buying I wonder if toilet paper is being stored, I couldn’t understand why that was in short supply last time.
Hope you are not too cold, still very hot here, not sure if it’s Summer or late Spring
Cheers. ????????

Good evening all
Thankfully it has cooled down here today, following yesterday's heatwave.
DH and self had a lovely walk in the woods near where we live, then met up with DS1 and DIL with the GC2 when we were invited back for an impromptu lunch, very nice!
Pantglas, your red onion marmalade sounds lovely so I may be trying it out as well.
My BlackBerry jam from yesterday turned out very good, and it set well too. I gave one jar to DS1 and will give one to DS2 during the week when we see him.
Have a pleasant Sunday evening all.

Hi there Rufus2. Shetland is very good. I preferred the books though. And I would imagine the dialogue is difficult! A curfew sounds very serious. Stay home at all times. I've had a day of pottering. Food shopping- no panic buying here at the moment - and baking chocolate cakes for my grandson's visit tomorrow. I'm going to make dinner then a little ironing. Take care x

Dear! Sorry, but news gets worser! New cases bumped up to 671 with 7 deaths, one man and 6 ladies all “residents” and elderly of course. As a result we are now subject to a curfew from 8.00pm until 5.00am and a heap of Stage 4 restrictions, masks to be worn everywhere, except indoors of course, unless we are really paranoid; outdoor exercising limited to one hour once a day (how that will be policed is anyone’s guess; obviously requires public cooperation)
Schoolchildren are back to home-learning and not having any I can’t imagine how their academic year will turn out! I guess WW2 must have had drastic effects, but with added stress and yet we all survived, even without “junk food”!
Now the panic- buyers have returned, so here’s hoping the supermarkets can resume control over the rationing of items.

Callistemon I haven’t found any Aussie made doonas, but blow the expense if it helps to sustain our manufacturing industry and keeps our money on shore.!
Govt. money actually if I can persuade them to include this in their budget for “keeping the elderly at home as long as possible”, but I think the petty cash tin will be skint by now! Many people are accessing their superannuation funds to “tied them over” amidst dire warnings from the “expert” financiers that it will cost them dearly in the long run. I guess “survival” is their first priority. sad

Megs Congratulations on your Diamond anniversary! It’s so sad to think that after 60 years you encounter something like Covid.
We had cards from all the local political gentry, just as if ,like Google, they had a dossier on their voters. Even the local Mayor; but we’ve never seen, let alone, heard from any of them, but as they say, it’s the thought that counts.

How many glasses will we be seeing on the Happy Day? I’ll be raising at least one at toasting time! Cheers

And Grandmabatty is off the wagon! “being good”! Mine is not to reason why, but..... etc. Hope you get better soon! smile
We had our last episode of “Shakespeare and H” last evening; It only recently started this series, only 5 or 6 ! think! To be replaced by Father Ted, again!
Tonight’s turn was “Shetland” The dialogue required unswerving concentration, just like Taggart, but it seemed very dramatic.

Ah well, the curfew tolls the knell of parting day, and now it’s Monday!
Good Health Everyone wine wine wine
