Good Morning Everyone ,
Its a clear blue sky start here in Brackley ,and what appears could be a very hot day .
Yesterdays bus and shop trips went Ok , got back earlier than planned so watched a cycle race on Eurosport, which involved a UK base team event was in France and featured a climb up the barren landscape of Mont Ventoux.
Today , shop this morning and more cycling n TV the first race will see Chris Froome battle for selection for the Tour De France.
Take Care
Mick

Thank you for your good wishes for dh!

Obvs, I meant that JL would have the air con NOT the chairs but it looks as though neither will be cool so we might postpone - DH is a bit old now for too much heat! grin

Anniebach Fri 07-Aug-20 08:50:39

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

gillgran Fri 07-Aug-20 08:50:39

Good Morning to you all from a sunny & already hot Cambs.,

Kittylester, Happy at your DS's result, & many happy returns to your DH.
(like my DH, just missed out on getting a free TV licence.) !

Good wishes to all who are still "under par".

Take Care Folks

Puzzler61 Fri 07-Aug-20 08:50:26

And grandmattie who also didn’t get a good night’s sleep.
Siesta for you later somewhere cool behind shutters ?

Puzzler61 Fri 07-Aug-20 08:47:45

Good morning Mick and All from a steamy Worcs.
I’ve been pottering amongst my plants before the heat gets intense - hence I am later wishing you a Good Morning.

Superb news re: your DS and his negative Covid test kittyl

Marydoll sorry you’ve had a bad night. Get some ? ? in
at siesta time if you can.

A friend is visiting this morning and we’ll have a drink and chatter in the garden. She has darker skin than me so she can sit in the sun - I’ll be under the parasol ☂️

Enjoy this little bit of continental style weather everyone and take it easy. ?

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from an already sunny North Cornwall. It’s a long way here from South Yorkshire and whatever we do today I hope it doesn’t involve a lot of activity, though if GS has his way that won’t be the case! At the moment no-one is up but me, so I will go and put the kettle on.
Happy Birthday *Mr KittyL*??! Have a good day folks.

Urmstongran Fri 07-Aug-20 08:18:23

Ah mythbirt restricted GN use is possibly a good thing now & again. It’s too easy to get sucked down the tubes isn’t it? Maw posts less frequently these days too. ‘Hi Maw if you’re reading the thread’! I recall she said she was giving GN up for Lent and I thought ‘wow now that’s hard core’ but she did it!

Good morning from a dry warm Morecambe Bay. DH is out running before it gets too hot and I’ve been reading in bed with my bucket of tea. I still haven’t got used to this bucket after losing my Peter Rabbit one a few weeks ago.
Marydoll’s tale of the zip wire reminded me of when I was teaching. We were at an intersports event in the next town and the children were running about waiting for their event. (It was more relaxed then) I was the only teacher there, others were parents. This little lad nonchalantly walked up to me and said “Miss, I think I’ve broken my arm” I looked at him, and there was no mistaking what he said was right. No mobile phones of course so I had to run to the nearest house to phone an ambulance. Happy Days!
We are having DGD6 to stay for the weekend. Mum will bring her up later and we will take her back on Sunday. Haven’t seen her in ages! When I confirmed arrangements with DS3 yesterday I asked if she was well. I was told she’s in good health but has become a little madam!
Must get up and clean the house. Why do we do extra cleaning when someone visits?
Hoping all is well at the Gillybobs and that elusive order finally materialises.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Good Morning all from Yorkshire. We got to Whitby safely yesterday, but it was rammed so we decided to move to Egton down the road. We are going to be walking around here anyway so felt that we wouldn’t feel comfortable squeezed into pubs and cafes in Whitby. We made the right decision as it is lovely here. I had a lovely birthday and was made to get drunk last night! We are off walking and geocaching today. I seem to be the only one of our party of 4 who is interested in the geocaching but ‘hey ho’?

I do hope you all have a lovely day today, and enjoy this sunshine. I am off down for breakfast soon, I am hungry.

Kalu Fri 07-Aug-20 08:13:49

Happy birthday to your DH kitty and enjoy your exciting trip to JL and the delicious Tournedos Rossini you are planning for later. Good news re your DS.

There seems to be a bit of confusion this morning, anzi’s Golden Wedding anniversary is tomorrow. ?

Mythbirtthedragon Fri 07-Aug-20 08:11:21

Good morning from east London, sunny, blue and hot. Tennis coach and play this morning, well lathered with sun cream and optician’s appointment this afternoon. DP has suggested while I’m there, I can do some food shopping, get the car washed and fill up with petrol. After a few words, the resolution is that he will come with me, do some shopping, get the car washed etc.
And on that line, as I’ve decided to take a break from Gransnet for a while (my time on the ‘marshes’ with restricted access to social media has made me think), I will wish all of you lovely people all the best and hope you have lots of good days.

Grandmabatty Fri 07-Aug-20 08:09:54

Good morning All. It's a nice day in Polmont. I have nothing planned at all. Kittylester happy birthday to your dh. marydoll I hope you feel better soon. When I was teaching I took a school party to Russia but no zip wires! Have a good day all.

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset. Click and collect excitement this morning, wish I’d remembered to un-tick the substitutions box. Banana chips instead of apricots just doesn’t work here hmm. Good news about your son kitty and a very happy birthday mr lester. A happy anniversary to mr and mrs anzie. Take care everyone and be gentle with yourselves.

Nortsat Fri 07-Aug-20 08:06:19

Good morning Mick (glad you are enjoying the cycling on television) and the GM team from a sunny east London.

As my shielding has been extended and we can’t go out anywhere we’ll have our dinner in the garden this evening, at about 8.00pm, when it’s a little cooler . We’ll play some nice ‘cool jazz’ music and pretend we’re sitting in a bistro in Provence.
I have pave rump steaks and will serve them with red wine jus. My partner enjoys the potato wedges I often make, but they require the oven to be on for 45 minutes... so that won’t work today!

Happy Golden wedding anniversary Anzie. Happy significant birthday to Mr Kitty. Looking forward to Maryd’s news tomorrow.
Good wishes to all who are facing challenges. Hello to Dragonfly, Cherry and Bluesapphire. Keep cool today, team ?

Urmstongran Fri 07-Aug-20 08:06:16

Happy birthday to Mr.Kitty. Must say I’ve never heard of chairs with air con in them ... haha!
?

Marydoll I’m already on tenterhooks!

Welcome to you anzie - sorry to hear of your cancelled plans for your GWA. It must be a huge disappointment after all your planning and shopping but as you say, the main thing is to enjoy what you have together. ❤️
By the way, you didn’t tell us all the value of your house? It’s good for us to know these important details about our newbies.
Joke.

Good Morning from a bright and sunny Black Coutry. Already very warm.

Yesterday SIL finished off cutting down the conifers at the back of the garden, and it now seems much bigger and lighter.

No plans today, so will probably just see how it goes. Probably have a BBQ tonight to make the most of this weather, and will bring Mum over to join us.

Wishing MrKitty a very happy birthday wine cupcake

Welcome to the thread anzie and happy anniversary, so sad you cannot celebrate it in the way you planned.

Kalu Fri 07-Aug-20 08:05:29

Good morning all from Glasgow where the sun has now broken through.

Only plan today is a visit to the shops as I have no wrapping paper or even bought a card yet forGD’s birthday on Sunday. We have a small shopping mall which I haven’t been anywhere near since beginning of March so hoping it will be quieter late afternoon. Washing to hang out soon then enjoy pottering about in the garden.

Have a pleasant day, hopefully a sunny one too and best wishes for a brighter day for those struggling with difficult times.

Good morning from East London. Very exciting day as a shed is being delivered! Up to us to build it. Gives DH a project.
Stay cool, everyone.

Lins1066 Fri 07-Aug-20 08:01:51

Good Morning Mick and all, it is finally a sunny one on the S Welsh coast too.
Take care of yourself Marydoll, wonder what your surprise will be, a good one I'll bet.
Happy Birthday to Kitty's DH and good news about your son, a really good present that.
Happy Anniversary for yesterday anzie and welcome to GM.
Our Sainsbury's delivery man phoned yesterday to ask if he could deliver early - yes of course- two minutes later he arrived, he must have been in the next street. All good though and he was so polite as indeed have all the delivery drivers.
Have a good day every one and stay safe.

Good morning from Shropshire.Forecast for a hot day today.

DGD still asleep so hopefully she won’t fall asleep in the car later when we take her home.If she sleeps in the car it means she won’t want to go to bed at bedtime.

I hope your exciting news tomorrow is what I think it is Marydoll??

Happy Golden Wedding anniversary anzie??

Sending good wishes to purple pixie who is struggling at the moment, also dragonfly, blue sapphire and anyone else with illness and worries.

Have a good day all.

It is beautiful here at the moment. Feels cool and fresh with a hint of the heat to come. I am off to my friend's garden for coffee and a catch up in her garden. I dont plan on doing anything this afternoon as i know from last Friday i just wilted in the 34 degree heat!!!!

Urmstongran Fri 07-Aug-20 07:53:43

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s the start of another gorgeous day ?. Yes it’s hot but there’s a lovely fresh breeze to so it doesn’t feel at all muggy.

We are allowed to invite 2 friends into the communal gardens again - slight loosening of the Covid rules - so we have given a fob to the waiter down in Juan’s. He was delighted - he and his wife play tag working shifts so one of them is able to be home with their 2 year old cute button - so he’s going to bring her over at noon.

Their apartment doesn’t have a pool or a grass area and he said she doesn’t like the beach much - the sand is too hot and the waves scare her. It will also save him trekking back up the hill in the middle of the afternoon (so hot with beach stuff and a buggy!) before he has to get ready for work. She can enjoy playing in the pool with daddy (or mummy) now this summer!

I’m off to the hair salon at 5pm to get my blonde highlights done so my head will be full of tin foils! I will want to eat out after I’ve been. La Taperia, Juan’s, Pedro’s or Sebastian’s? We rotate amongst our 4 local bars to support them. I’d hate to lose them. 3 of them are right outside the block!

Yesterday we were sat at Juan’s having some lunch and a Spanish lady walked past doing her shopping in the 3pm heat. She took very sensible precautions!

Hope Friday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Morning All

24c already here in the north of Norfolk , I don't think we'll be doing anything energetic today! We certainly won't be heading to the coast and I feel sorry for all those excited children stuck in cars in the queues to find parking.

DH is on a new medication which has to be taken an hour before breakfast - so he's getting up an hour earlier and that's my GN browsing time gone! I shall definitely be checking in tomorrow though for Marydoll's news!

Nanabanana1 Fri 07-Aug-20 07:52:18

Good morning everyone, lovely morning here in Torbay, two of my grandchildren coming for the weekend today, (hurray) so I’ll just finish my cup of tea then up and at em Chocolate Cake to make (grandsons favourite).
Hope everyone has a good day. Stay cool Ladies and Gents.
