Had to pay the landlord an extra fiver a week, but he has extended our lease, phew! Safe again for a while for all Argy Bargies wanting a sit down and a pint of something, whilst getting things off their chests.???

LauraNorder Fri 04-Sept-20 21:10:55

Callistemon please can we dance on the shiny floor, can’t keep dancing in the cellar as we can’t hear Doddles piano pieces. My goodness Maw the floor is so shiny, you need to put your drawers on the right end, blushing as I turn away.

LauraNorder Fri 04-Sept-20 21:05:57

Just as well you were wearing those very pretty pink silk knickers Maw, they look well on your head.
Glad you were unlaced in time Lemon the roof wouldn’t have withstood another hit.
The rest of us are exhausted after another quadrille, I daren’t swoon again, goodness knows what you put in the smelling salts, like scrapings from the llamas jockstrap

Callistemon Fri 04-Sept-20 21:01:17

The polished dancing floor looks truly magnificent

No dancing on my nice clean floor!!
It's only there to admire.

Callistemon Fri 04-Sept-20 20:59:32

Is your poor old drudge cleaner allowed a drop of poteen?

MawB2 Fri 04-Sept-20 20:38:48

???I think I need one after the day I have had!
That’s not a mob cap, I put my knickers on the wrong end blush

lemongrove Fri 04-Sept-20 20:28:27

Get your shawl....you’ve pulled!

lemongrove Fri 04-Sept-20 20:27:32

Have a glass of something? Maw you look very fetching in your mob hat and curls, Achilles will be free to take a turn about the cellar with you in a minute.

lemongrove Fri 04-Sept-20 20:25:11

Haha MawB2 woz ‘ere!

lemongrove Fri 04-Sept-20 20:24:23

Phew! That’s better out than in, as they say. Thanks for the unlacing Lins I can breathe again now ( and sup and eat) what a relief, I think it may have been the Steradent in the poteen what did it.

MawB2 Fri 04-Sept-20 20:23:16

Is it safe to come out yet?

Doodle Fri 04-Sept-20 19:55:39

???????? whatever is that noise. Like someone blowing a raspberry. Oh is you lemon might have known.
Ok I’ve finished my piece. You can borrow Gloopy for one dance as I promised the next one to Gnasher. But from then on he’s mine, ?

lemongrove Fri 04-Sept-20 19:51:17

The poteen is amazing......I’m floating on air ( it’s giving me gas in a mega way)?Quick, unlace me before I go off!

lemongrove Fri 04-Sept-20 19:49:24

All that merriment and delight will happen when Doodle has finished her version of the Minute Waltz of course.
The polished dancing floor looks truly magnificent, I shall take my partner in hand ( Gloopy) ......and after that, we shall dance for a while.

lemongrove Fri 04-Sept-20 19:46:04

No karaoke tonite girls.....we have AGA on the pianoforte with my good self accompanying her, and will entertain you with a selection of ditties from days of yore, such as:
‘ Meet me in the garden where the turnips grow’
‘La! Sir, please feel my pear’
‘Oh! For a glimpse of the faraway docks’
‘Pretty little Doodle in the Springtime’
And that perennial favourite ‘Bend Me over in the clover’?

Doodle Fri 04-Sept-20 19:31:54

Ladies I think you will find that Gloopy is MY partner for the night. I have booked all the dances on his dance card. No lemon you can’t have a nibble of Gloopy. All his edible bits are mine.
I am about to take my turn on the pianoforte. I will be playing the minute waltz. My version lasts an hour and a half so plenty of time for supping.
Gloopy will be one side of me turning the pages and Gnasher the other side snuggling into my ample bosom.
Right ladies. Put your best foot forward and off we go ? ?.

Lins1066 Fri 04-Sept-20 17:56:55

I thought that the poteen wasn't having its usual effect, the steradent explains it. I hope Gloopy will mark my card tonight, do you think you can manage Zorba on the pianoforte Doodle? Maybe it's the only reel he knows.....
I'm having trouble curling my wig hair into ringlets so the Admiral is shaving off some rope to do the job.
Carriages at 11 ?

AGAA4 Fri 04-Sept-20 16:46:33

Oh no! Gloopy has already told the others that Lemon is his.
There will be pistols at dawn.
I heard the Admiral shouting "Sirrah, you are a cad and a bounder!"

AGAA4 Fri 04-Sept-20 15:21:16

Lemon Gloopy is a hunk. No wonder Achilles is jealous. The Admiral and the Captain don't look too pleased either.
I can see trouble brewing in the Argy tonight as well as the poteen to which I have added some steradent tablets to give it a bit of a fizz.
The llama is giving Gloopy a hard stare too. He will stay close to Doodle tonight to make sure she doesn't stray.
I hope LauranOrder will keep an eye on them all but she will probably be keeping her eyes on Gloopy like the rest of us.

lemongrove Fri 04-Sept-20 11:47:06

Thor, Gloopy and Achilles have done a great job with the bar,
It looks so authentic....old wooden tables, wonky chairs, sawdust on the floor, spittoons, candles stuck in bottles etc
( on reflection.....it looked like that anyway!)
They are all wearing their costumes though, and look fantastic, tight breeches, white shirts with a stock tied at the neck and a short sacking apron to show they are bar staff.
Gloopy said something ( hard to tell what) and Achilles murmured ‘is true, wotty say’ so I said ‘what did he say?’
Turns out Gloopy has a bit of a thing for me in my tightly laced costume and he said ‘bootiful ladee let me embrace you’ (Achilles says that’s the clean version)so I patted him on the hand with my fan and told him he’s a naughty boy. Can’t
Wait for tonight?

lemongrove Fri 04-Sept-20 11:34:43

Yummmy! Would anyone notice if I had a nibble?

Doodle Fri 04-Sept-20 10:51:02

Gloopy having his make up finished off. What an edible hunk he is. ?

Doodle Fri 04-Sept-20 10:42:59

Shall we girls take a turn walking around the Pump room. (Do you think it is something to do with firemen? )
Lins I am quite happy to have a go on your pianoforte. I must, however, have Gloopy to turn the pages for me. He looks quite dashing in his breeches. Oh my the excitement. I feel a fit of the vapours coming over me. I must retire and rest for tonight. Bring the smelling salts with you Gloopy.

Lins1066 Fri 04-Sept-20 08:02:54

Delighted to discuss bonnets and fans with you lemon, and I must chose some lace for my new poplin. Later I need to find some muscle to polish the barouche landau for this evening. Any offers to go down the cellar to locate some volunteers laydees? I would accompany you but I don't like creepy crawlies and there seem to be a lot of them coming in now September is here.

lemongrove Thu 03-Sept-20 23:48:55

Lins must you go so soon? Take a turn about the room with me dear friend and we can compare bonnets and fans for the morrow?
At least stop,for a Doodle’s Derry Air ( a large one)?

Lins1066 Thu 03-Sept-20 23:41:10

Shall we take it in turns to tinkle the ivories tomorrow night lemon? I will have my new baby grand brought over, Lord Burley-Bilder and Gloopy can do the humping. It is a prezzie from my new beau Colonel Brandon ( sorry Alan Rickman, you were sweet but it has to be David Morrisey for me).
Off to warm a glass of poteen sorry porter for me and the Admiral, I bid you good night ?
