A polite, but heartfelt request.?

Please, please, PLEASE can people refrain from copying and pasting EVERY previous response to their posts before adding a reply!

All members can read the responses, and probably don't want or need to read them twice.

This is not meant to cause offence, just a request to make threads easier to read and more concise.

Thank you.

Donna if you feel that it's you, then why don't you just stop doing it? It could be regarded as borderline narcissism, the way every positive or affirmative post you get, you feel the need to quote them on your responses.

And dont tell MawB to stop being negative, she is a very positive person, despite recent events.I

Although I suppose you are entitled to post whatever you like, (within GN guidelines) as indeed is everyone else.

I like the quote function as it is much easier to use that rather than try to decipher who is being replied to. MawB seems to have a personal vendetta against me. X

Callistemon Sun 16-Aug-20 19:14:19

If I have to quote, I copy and paste just the bit I am commenting on in italics

Now I can do that, I will

A sensible approach, annep1, makes much more sense.

annep1 Sun 16-Aug-20 18:49:41

I don't like it either. I usually just put the name of the person I am replying to in bold and say what I want to say..

MawB

Oh kirkcubbin she knows very well who she is! It’s been pointed out by poster after poster hmmhmm sigh

MawB, I don't know why you think you have been appointed to the position of moderator, but to my knowledge you haven't. Do stop being negative. X

honeyrose Sun 16-Aug-20 17:31:26

This is all getting slightly tedious!

phoenix Sun 16-Aug-20 17:29:04

kircubbin2000

I stated earlier that I hadn't named anyone, and I'm not going to do so now, sorry.

However, it wouldn't surprise me if you receive a pm, but it won't be from me.

To quote Dragons Den, "I'm out".

I share the OP's irritation. The heart of the problem is that there is no facility to respond directly beneath a particular post as there is on FB. It would be much more logical but I fear it won't happen.

kircubbin2000 Sun 16-Aug-20 17:16:09

I can't work out who the guilty party is. Perhaps she is new to posting and doesn't realise.Who was it by the way?

BlueSky Sun 16-Aug-20 17:13:36

Thanks Maw I didn't think it was possible to edit from a smartphone, glad we can as sometimes we only want to quote a sentence!

BlueBelle Sun 16-Aug-20 17:10:22

Haha peardrop by the way I love pear drops but haven’t had one for years Note to self buy some “peardrops when out in town“ Original posters Post is in green my own posts are in pink such a rainbow of colours

The quote box done the new way is tooooooo blooming big takes up too much space is cumbersome what else I prefer to see copy and paste Simples

Callistemon Sun 16-Aug-20 17:10:05

Sorry.

phoenix Sun 16-Aug-20 17:08:35

You know what, I'm getting seriously pee'd off with it all. sad Been here since GN started, actually "registered" before the site even existed, but feeling it's all a bit ?

Callistemon Sun 16-Aug-20 17:05:36

at no point have I mentioned any GN members by name!

I don't mind, phoenix, now I've worked this out I'm going to keep practising it.

Callistemon Sun 16-Aug-20 17:03:53

Like so

Yes

Chewbacca Sun 16-Aug-20 16:56:12

Phoenix I think that there's a bit of deliberate winding up going on. The "quote abusers" know exactly what they're doing. Probably best ignored.

phoenix Sun 16-Aug-20 16:52:03

Bathsheba I started this thread, and at no point have I mentioned any GN members by name!

If members think that it is directed at, or a "vendetta" against a particular poster, then perhaps they might have a reason to think that?

MerylStreep Sun 16-Aug-20 16:52:02

????? Note to self.
That wasn't to you Phoenix

Lucca Sun 16-Aug-20 16:43:40

Aaaaaargh.

I love your sense of humour.
I've slept badly, but there you are again, making me smile.

Awww, I hate not sleeping. Big hugs. X

SueDonim Sun 16-Aug-20 16:39:00

Yes but I don’t know which is the quote and which is the new comment. I’ve got no blue or grey boxes. confused

Bathsheba Sun 16-Aug-20 16:22:50

Gosh what a lot of fuss about the quote feature. You know, you really don't have to actually read all the stuff in the quote box, you can just skip to the reply underneath. It's not difficult. Who cares about the 'space' it takes up? This is virtual, not physical, we're not wasting lots of sheets of paper ?

Honestly, this feels to me like a vendetta against one particular poster hmm

Peardrop50 Sun 16-Aug-20 16:01:23

My apologies BlueBelle, the posters box is blue, the quotes are in a bluish grey box but if I tilt my screen back are definitely grey, so you are right I am wrong.
My own posts are in a lilacy purple colour, what about yours?
