A polite, but heartfelt request.?

Please, please, PLEASE can people refrain from copying and pasting EVERY previous response to their posts before adding a reply!

All members can read the responses, and probably don't want or need to read them twice.

This is not meant to cause offence, just a request to make threads easier to read and more concise.

Thank you.

MawB

Oh kirkcubbin she knows very well who she is! It’s been pointed out by poster after poster hmmhmm sigh

MawB, I don't know why you think you have been appointed to the position of moderator, but to my knowledge you haven't. Do stop being negative. X

phoenix Sun 16-Aug-20 18:37:28

Donna if you feel that it's you, then why don't you just stop doing it? It could be regarded as borderline narcissism, the way every positive or affirmative post you get, you feel the need to quote them on your responses.

And dont tell MawB to stop being negative, she is a very positive person, despite recent events.I

Although I suppose you are entitled to post whatever you like, (within GN guidelines) as indeed is everyone else.

annep1 Sun 16-Aug-20 18:49:41

I don't like it either. I usually just put the name of the person I am replying to in bold and say what I want to say..
If I have to quote, I copy and paste just the bit I am commenting on in italics.

A sensible approach, annep1, makes much more sense.

Now I can do that, I will

I like the quote function as it is much easier to use that rather than try to decipher who is being replied to. MawB seems to have a personal vendetta against me. X

DonnaFHSheridan, MawB seems to have a personal vendetta against me. X
I think you are enjoying all this attention, albeit negative.
I feel quite sorry for you. Are you lonely?

NO, MawB does not have a personal vendetta against you.

Not lonely at all. She always seems to have a disparaging comment for me. X

Aw poor you
X

Just get to know MawB
She is indomitable, a domestic goddess and has the ability to set the world to rights over a brew
And a great baker- you need to try her ????????

I don't think she likes me very much at all. X

I don't think she likes me very much at all

Do you think that that might have anything to do with the fact that, on an open forum, you've told her that she's negative, thinks she's a forum moderator and is disparaging? You've not done much to win her over really have you, making comments like that.

I'm making these comments after weeks of her being abrasive towards me. X

Try a piece of cake.
Recommended by GNHQ, they are always stuffing their faces eating cake.
It seems to work.

sodapop Sun 16-Aug-20 21:21:08

I'm with honeyrose this is all getting slightly tedious now.

Chewbacca Sun 16-Aug-20 21:22:27

Very well FlyingHandbags/Donna. So many people have tried to give you guidance and advice regarding posting but you seem quite determined to ignore it anyway and carry on regardless. But it has put people's backs up and I suspect that MawB is one of those that have become irritated. I've tried to help you, but carry on as you wish. But you can't be too surprised when people get cross with you.

Marydoll why? It's the most entertaining ever! grin

Callistemon Sun 16-Aug-20 21:55:27

Oh o, not another one!

BlueBelle Sun 16-Aug-20 22:19:41

Oh no they re multiplying

Marydoll Sun 16-Aug-20 22:29:03

Someone ( I don't mean me) is bound to report it, as FH has complained about being picked on.

It has been interesting. ?

annep1 Sun 16-Aug-20 22:55:17

I think there should be a facility for OPs to close their thread. Just saying. .....

Marydoll Sun 16-Aug-20 23:04:17

Sounds a good idea, annep. I feel there are strange things happening on GN just now. I just can't quite put my finger on it. ?

phoenix Sun 16-Aug-20 23:39:17

Do you think it's a compulsive habit, bit like a nervous tic?

welbeck Mon 17-Aug-20 00:09:31

i still don't see what the problem is.
what does it matter how much space is taken up; it's not like a telegram, paid for by the letter/space.
most most everyone the quotations have a grey ground,= easily identified. so why not just skip over them if you don't want to read them. the new comment stands out on a white ground underneath.
perhaps i am missing something.
i agree with bathsheba above. i have resisted quoting them.

Chewbacca Mon 17-Aug-20 01:28:15

Not on my screen it doesn't? The quoted text is exactly the same as the rest of the post, hence why it's so difficult to see where the quoted post ends and the responsive post begins. Not sure if that's the same for others though?
