Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dull but dry South Yorkshire. DD and her menfolk came over for dinner last night, which was very nice, but I was tired out when they had gone. It was like being washed along on a tidal wave of noise! I want the house to be a haven of calm today. I hope we will go out for a walk at some point but DH is cutting the grass first and making space in our garage for the roof box off their car. It might have been a good idea if they had thought about where they were going to store it before they bought it! ?Perhaps they did! Have a good safe day, folks.

Good Morning Saturday
(65 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Is dull grey and wet start here in Brackley this morning .
I will continue my usual buses to Buckingham and bicester today .
When I get home it will be to watch two cycle races on TV , its great watching them , but in general the sporting calendar regardless of the sport is all out of sequence as to the normal yearly programmes each sport has.
Take Care ,
Mick
Good morning from a very grey, damp, misty Angus coast. We are very possessive round here, and once we get hold of this sort of weather we hang onto it for as long as possible! Nothing much going on and not sure even if the gardener and his young grandson will turn up. So a quiet weekend, but with plenty of odd jobs to do. Your time with family sounded hectic Grandmattie - nine loads of washing! Kalu interesting how many foxes there are in urban areas - in the 23 years I have lived in this rural area I have seen only one! They have all migrated to the bright lights I fear. And fingers crossed for your GD,*Gingster*. My oldest GD has returned to school for her final year. She said it was alright but the one-way system she didn't like because it was "so inconvenient"! Have a lovely day everyone ???
Sorry EllanVannin
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good Morning Mick and all, a damp morning here too on the S Welsh coast. Did my Domestic Goddess routine yesterday, cleaning bathroom etc, so will take it easier today.
Someone was injured in a cliff fall in the afternoon very near to us. The Coastguard Helicopter was hovering for ages, the local Jetski school ferried people to get to the casualty, well done them. The air ambulance took the person off to hospital, hope they're OK.
Today is the 75th Anniversary of VJ Day and the ending of WW2.
Good luck to your GD on Tuesday Gingster I'm sure it will all work out for her. Enjoy your supermarket sweep Marydoll.
Have a good day everyone.
Oh MawB is she a greyhound ? What a lovely breed of dog, so faithful.
Good Morning from a cloudy but very warm Black Country.
Arrived home yesterday after a few days away in the Cotswolds in the caravan. It was far too hot on Wednesday though, so after a walk along the Cotswold Way to Winchcombe in the morning, we lazed and read in the shade in the afternoon. Passed a flock off sheep on the walk who were all bunched together under a tree for shade.
Today would have been my Nan's birthday, she was born in 1911 so 109 years ago!
My partner has finally decided to retire (he will be 70 in February). He has been on furlough since April and has decided he has lost the desire to go back, which I knew would happen. It will officially happen in November.
Wishing everyone a good Saturday
Morning everyone..another lovely day here...last weekend I had an accident with the grass strimmer,a piece of wire blade flew out ..hit my leg at speed ,like a missile..entered causing so much bleeding..embedded itself under my skin about a centimeter away from the wound..anyway,a&e applied a transparent 'drawing patch' and today I can see the blade in the open wound so d.i.l (nurse) is going to ease it out later...so glad as its been so sore..
Enjoy your shopping trip marydolldont spend too much..keep away from the clothes dept...
Wishing everyone a safe and happy weekend ?
Good morning from N Bucks where it is grey and cooler. With all sympathy to anybody on holiday (especially DDs in the West Country) I am so much happier not to feel like a boiled lobster - even without getting out of bed. One D is supposed to be camping with DGS this weekend - I’m sure he will love it though.
I wish I could say I had a load of activities planned for today - not that I could keep up with Marydoll in the fast lane of Tesco - but I must venture out sometime I suppose.
Lockdown has unfortunately pandered to my natural laziness and I am in danger of becoming a recluse as I am quite happy to be at home with Hattie!
Pic to show what a talented breed they are!
Good morning All from a grey Polmont. The afternoon tea for mum's birthday yesterday went as expected. Lots of little digs by mum regarding the food, my son's absence (he was working) and more of that ilk. And it culminated in my db being more unpleasant than normal and being rude to me. Mum is deaf and refuses to wear her hearing aids so she missed the nastiness but would have defended him anyway as he is the Golden Child. My dd, and aunt and uncle had a good old moan and a laugh when they'd gone. Today I will do a bit shopping and then potter around the house and garden. I hope you all have a good Saturday.
Good morning everyone from a grey cloudy Inverness but with the promise of the sun coming out later!
Well after much indecisiveness I’ve eventually planned a trip to see my DD1 and two DGSs who live in Cambridge.. it’ll be the first time I’ve seen them since February so I’m so much looking forward to it. I’ve booked the Inverness to Luton flight as it’s too far to drive and DD is picking me up from the airport ... I do feel a bit apprehensive but I’m going to be very careful ? - will let you know how it goes !
Enjoy your lunch susan and hope you enjoy Pedros urmstongran - how lovely for your sister to be moving out there too!
marydoll enjoy your trip to the supermarket- who knows where you might be going next!
For every having family visits and catch ups I hope they all go well! Take care everyone whatever the day brings ?
Good Morning All x
Lovely sunny start but markedly cooler---for me anyway
Horror of horrors the second disturbed evening here ! How very dare. Between 10.45 and 11pm the most ghastly spine-chilling screams coming from the next road to me. It was ear-piercing in the night air and sounded as though someone was being murdered.
I opened the patio door and stood in the garden but couldn't see what was going on but saw neighbours out round here and a handful of people running down this nearside road towards where the dreadful noise was coming from. I heard one of the people saying they'd rang for an ambulance but nobody seemed any the wiser as to what went on.
I only saw the reflection of flashing blue lights in the distance then all went quiet. The people in that road must have all been out, so I'll try and find out what went on.
Dear me, what's wrong with people ? I finally settled and went to bed.
D's day in Durham/Darlington went well on Thursday and her and Ruby-Lou had a lovely day shopping and generally exploring the town----which by all accounts is very hilly. The carers are apparently lovely people who rang D every half hour to make sure things were alright while they were out and about. Both enjoyed fish and chips in the park.
D is picked up and dropped off from the station each time. It's a 6 hour trip in all which doesn't give that much time in between but it's been regular visiting. They all love "Roobs".
Today D has a child-free day as the children's granddad is taking the 3 of them to Blackpool for the day. He is the father of their dad who died in March. GDad has one of those large campervans which is like a bungalow
They should all have a good day as I know he'll treat them. Lucky them eh ?
I'll just be going to the butchers later to see what I can have for dinner tomorrow, other than that not a lot else except a read of the papers, but I don't mind the tranquility. I'll make the most of the sun today as it's all changing here with much cooler weather----jumper at the ready ! It'll feel colder because of the heat we've had, though not as hot as elsewhere.
Hope you all enjoy your day whatever you get up to and thoughts to those who are unwell. xx Stay safe .
Morning Mick, morning All from a very damp corner of Somerset. Suspect a stressful day ahead. Our much loved god daughter is having a tough time many miles away so long phone calls expected. So much easier if we could see her, too far sadly. Gas boiler may be serviced, depends if there’s space for us otherwise it will be tomorrow at some point. The not knowing doesn’t suit me at all. Oh well, grumble over. There are worse things. That sounds more hopeful gingster, a worrying time for so many young people. You’ll be well into your Tesco experience now marydoll, I’m sure the trolley will be laden. Take care everyone, be gentle with yourselves.
Morning all from a chilly and grey North Leicestershire. We are promised thunder and rain today but that has happened before and not come to fruition.
Not a lot happening today - I will water the pots (that might make it rain!!) and do a fry up for lunch. And i have some flowers to arrange.
I hope everyone has the best day possibly.
Good morning Mick and all
Grey, damp and muggy here in S E Essex.
No plans for today other than popping into local butchers to replenish the freezer and see if the tech wizard has had any luck with my iPad.
Enjoy Tesco’s Marydoll grandmattie I do not envy you the washing and ironing.
Urnstongran my iPad has stopped charging so I have asked the local tech wizard to see if he can sort it, if only enough charge in it so that I can back it up to lap top.
Keep safe and well folks?♀️
Enjoy your first supermarket visit Marydoll. It feels a bit strange initially but hopefully you enjoy the experience of a touch of freedom. ?
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire, grey sky and I think rain is on its way.
DH is recovering from a running injury by going on a bike ride today, I asked if he would like me to joon him and he do rudely replied “he only wanted to be out the one day??” how rude.
The pooch and I will go go a little walk later and find a few geocache’s that’s as far as my excitement goes today.
I received my certificate yesterday for my NVQ course I did in children’s mental health I must find a frame for it.
marydoll. Hope you enjoyed your shopping trip.
DGS spent his first night at his house in his big boy bed, promptly fell out in the early hours, but DD said it was the nicest feeling as he came into their room this morning and began stroking her face as she was pretending she was still asleep ❤️
Take care everyone and have a good day.
It was very quiet in the neighbourhood here last night Gelisajams. ... Barcelona lost 8-2 to Bayern Munich. The usually ebullient Spanish were very subdued.
?
Morning Mick and All
Overcast and a bit cooler in South Bucks today.
DS and 2 DGSs left yesterday after a week’s holiday here. To say that DH and myself are exhausted is an understatement. We had laughter, tears, footie, yes and tablets GrandMattie plus films, posh supper at the Ivy when the boys behaved themselves surprisingly!
Yesterday morning I took my 9 year old DGS out for an hour or so, his dad thinks he is the tricky one. We had a fab time together in the rain playing silly devils in the park, messing about in M and Co dancing in front of the fairground distorting mirror, DGS eating an enormous chocolate bun and drinking a Fanta and me a cappuccino. We checked out the charity shops. He was thrilled to buy 2 dvds he had been looking for. He told me he had had a lovely time. There is nothing wrong with my lad he’s great fun so there. He’s just like I was at his age, no wonder we get on so well.
Hope your trip to Tesco meets your expectations Marydoll. Are your pharmacists incompetent Mary they always seem to mess up your prescriptions big time?
Oh MissMarydoll I have just used my initiative like what you tell us and Googled ‘what to do about a slow running iPad’. Reboot by powering down by holding the on/off button and the home button together for 7 seconds. Wait 30 seconds and power up with the Apple logo. Ta-dah! Apparently it clears any apps running in the background.
Marks out of 10 please?
?
Everything crossed here with an acceptance forthcoming for your DG Gingster. It’s such a stressful time, more so this year for many families in this situation.
Good morning from a wet, yes wet Essex by the sea. Not a lot but there is some rain out there !!!!! Maybe all the straw I can see from the window will revert back to grass.
We have been invited to a BBQ this afternoon, rain permitting.
As I write the rain has started to pour down, not sure we will be going anywhere soon.
Have the best Saturday you can and stay safe everyone xx
Good morning all from Glasgow where we have grey skies at the moment but eventually sunny by lunch time which has been the pattern for the last few days.
I forgot to lock the garden shed until late in the evening the night before last which gave our resident fox time to snoop around and find my leather gardening gloves, one was lying outside the shed, no sign of the other one. The following morning the other one appeared outside the shed, a bit chewed around the cuff but at least it was returned. I have never known a fox to return anything but this one must have realised I needed a pair of gloves. As we are still very rarely going out, small matters like this can add a bit of excitement to our day. Oh dear. ?
We seem to have adapted to this slower way of life and quite enjoying having no demands on our time, sharing garden visits with family or friends or filling our time doing various tasks whenever the mood takes us.
A day with your feet up and spoiling yourself now grandMattie It’s always lovely to have family visits but my goodness, it’s also exhausting.
Have a good day all.
