She's 35 Taichinan. I know she has been getting support from her mental health team, as she had a breakdown which is why my D ( her mother ) has been looking after the 3 elder children, younger 3 are with a foster-carer and one is in Durham/Darlington staying in a therapeutic residential home .
I'm sure things will sort themselves out eventually as all children are well looked after at present and GD is improving and has seen the children, though after 5 months the little ones are wanting their mum so that'll be done by degrees as GD's health improves. Family are a good support.
Everything came to a complete halt when the virus hit so that was another set-back for everyone with limited attendances at the young man's funeral too. However, his father ( granddad ) is very good and helps out where he can.
I rather feel at this stage that GD will have her hands full and work cut out to bother entertaining anyone until much later on in her life but it wouldn't harm her to join a group to meet her own sort. I'll bear that organisation in mind--WAY for future reference. Thankyou for that.

Good Morning Sunday
(63 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey and its wet here in Brackley this morning .
Today a quiet day in , and watch final stage of the Dauphine on TV .
Yesterday on buses to Buckingham and Bicester , slightly smaller flea market on with not many dealers, the person I usually see was not there .
Small shop later , as I have said a easy day in.
Take Care ,
Mick
Just popping back in for a sec. EllanVannin if your widowed GD is under 50, as I'm sure she must be, there is a wonderful organisation called WAY (Widowed and Young) which gives tremendous support. It is online, and there are also local volunteers 'on the ground' in many areas. I am so sorry for your GD, and it would be lovely if she could find support through this. It is terribly sad that so many lose their partners young - I had no idea! There is one girl who has been widowed twice - she is in her early thirties. So sad. I hope your GD can find comfort. ?
Another dull, murky day in Durham - roll on Autumn!
A ‘gathering’ of neighbours outdoors on our small development (20 houses) later. Might need an umbrella if I decide to go - haven’t spoken to most neighbours for weeks, just an occasional wave.
Marydoll’s experience reminds me I must get a new battery on my car - it starts ok, but takes a few miles before some other functions (radio, air con) kick in, so it’s definitely on its way out. Mine’s £200+ too, but not spending money on anything else really. X
A late Good Morning everyone from gloriously sunny S of ?? where I am in the garden chatting to my little Mediterranean geckos who live (mostly) behind my herb trough. The speed of their scuttling even surprised the cats this morning. No harm done - cats immediately resumed their sleeping positions. If their nerves can cope with low-flying swallows, they’ll manage anything!
DH vacuuming the pool, having just returned from a scooter trip ? to the shop for some milk, which somehow we had overlooked buying. He was able to park right there.....if he’d used the car, he would probably still be searching for a space...anywhere!
We’ll be soooooo glad to get our peace back again after such a ‘weird’ summer. People on holiday sometimes tend to leave their brains at home, or maybe they get frazzled by the heat.
Very pleased that a lot of the UK has had some rain - although somewhat unevenly distributed? Shouldn’t be too many GMers wilting this Sunday?.
??? Have a super Birthday, Grammaretto. Wishing for you anything you wish for yourself. And wishing hard that Mr G has a good day today.
Good luck, little Henry. Don’t worry Susan - he’ll start to improve now, once everyone has the knowledge!
You try so hard, Marydoll but you must have heard that you can’t fix stupid. Who knows, maybe people behaving like idiots is just the distraction you need to get you through your fears! Or not. Do hope your car is back up and running pretty damn soon.
A calm, peaceful and re-charging Sunday to all - especially those with pain, worries or sadness.
Hugs, as always, from France ?
Good morning everyone from Gower where it's grey, gloom laden with grizzly rain.
Lins it rained most, if not all, of the day here too yesterday and looks like it's more of the same today.
? Happy Birthday to you ? Grammaretto ????.
I bet you enjoyed that pre birthday hug ?
So you're "off to the woods today, off to the woods today"... a raspberry picking. Enjoy ?
Marydoll, what an AA fiasco grrh. You didn't say but it sounds like you didn't get your meds as a consequence, I hope I'm wrong ? So you braved the supermarket and it didn't take you long to head to the clothes section - I knew. The question is... did you buy any?☺️
Susan, not long to go now for Henry's tests. I really hope they get to the bottom of the issue/s, just as they did for my great nephew1. It's such a shame that your SiL will have to sit in the car outside; so hard. I know that it will be a nerve-racking time for you, sending you ((hugs))
I woke up this morning with mad hair ?. It's wonderful, strange to think that I know but it is a good feeling after wearing such a weight for so long ?, #happy.
Actually cooking a roast dinner ?️ today, strange in the middle of August ?
Thinking of BlueSapphire and dragonfly and sending my warmest wishes to you both ?
Whatever you are doing, enjoy your Sunday everyone. I hope you can find some enjoyment of the day gillybob.
Be kind to yourselves everyone ❤️
MrsWoo, there's no chance for my GD whose partner of 15 + years died in March and left 7 children !
Good morning All. Happy birthday grammarettoI hope you have a lovely day. marydoll dealing with bureaucracy and the need to follow a script regardless of what they've been told drives me mad! I hope you got your prescription sorted. Susan54 I'll keep my fingers crossed for Henry tomorrow. Poor wee man. It's a day like yesterday in Polmont. Grey skies and fairly cool. I've been shopping for food and I'm off to buy glue and double sided tape for a craft project. Pork chop for tea. I'm making chicken curry in the slow cooker and ill rustle up a pot of Leek and potato soup later. That's all I have planned. Maybe a little ironing. Have a good Sunday.
EllanVannin thank you for your comment. It's going to be possibly an education watching these five teens settling together! But DD says they already seen to be just like one family.
Marydoll you do have a way of telling your misfortunes! You do sometimes wonder at the lack of intelligence that project down the telephone lines! But I hope you have recovered and also now have your meds ?
Happy Birthday Grammaretto. I love birthdays that seem to go I. For days! Your day-early hugs just made your birthday longer. ? for your DH and I hope he feels stronger soon.
Mrs Woo I have my fingers crossed for your son. We do feel so much on behalf of our children, don't we - no matter how old they are.
A late good morning from the North East coast where we have yet another miserable, almost winters day. Yesterday was dark, cold and drizzling and today looks to be much the same . We have yet to see the sun this month .
Yesterday I hung the little curtains in Evie’s playhouse and they look so sweet . She enjoyed opening and closing them and playing peekaboo
I hope you have a lovely birthday walk in the woods and manage to find plenty wild raspberries *Grammaretto
I hope the hospital finally get to the bottom of little Henry’s problems Susan56 poor little lamb.
I’m glad your supermarket trip was a success Marydoll but such a shame your day was spoiled by the car battery fiasco .
Thinking as usual of our missing friends including BlueSapphire and Dragonfly and hoping those feeling poorly or under the weather have some much needed
in their lives really soon.
Have as good a Sunday as possible everyone. It’s my second worst day of the week always spoiled by the feeling of dread for tomorrow . Silly I know .
Love Gillybob x
Sorry, Happy Birthday Grammaretto! Sky brightening up here so maybe on it’s way to you?
Good morning all from a damp and cooler mid-Notts. I'm certainly not sorry to see the back of the heatwave. I've currently got his Lordship the cat sitting on my lap - he declined having a "go" on the terrace/catio. He didn't want to soil those delicate little paws I think!! No real plans for today - we will take the day as it comes. Hope everyone has the best day possible and please stay safe x
I thought we were in your neck of the woods Ellan.I’ll look forward to that cuppa.x
Good morning from a cloudy South Lanarkshire. It started like this yesterday but turned into a glorious afternoon so here’s hoping. A quiet day ahead, online church shortly and then a walk with DD4. I hope your family have a lovely holiday in Lewis harrigran, and that they get the weather to go to the amazingly beautiful beaches in Harris. Fingers crossed for them! Hope everyone has a good day.
Oh Marydoll what a frustrating day. You do always make it very entertaining for us to read about your ups and downs though, thank you!
Just a quick thought, during lockdown when I wanted to buy birthday cards etc and didn’t want to get Moonpig-type personalised ones, I realised our local greeting card shop in our village also had a website so I ordered them from there - wanted to support my local shop. Wondered if you have anywhere similar, as Tescos wouldn’t have been your usual choice?
Good morning all. Very misty out to sea but still warm and still.
Thanks for your good wishes Marydoll re GD’s uni place, and poor you and your car. How frustrating! Did you manage to get your meds?
Well yesterday we had all the family here and we were so lucky with the weather. In the garden or the beach all day until 9.30 pm. No rain but cloudy and warm. They’ve now all gone off to the boating lake so I’m having a clear up and a cuppa all on my own. I just need to refresh the batteries and will be ready for when they get back for lunch ???.
We got through so much food yesterday, so they will do a quick shop to replenish , on their way back.
Many happy returns Grammaretto have a lovely day. ?
Enjoy those Singapore noodles Urms they are one of my favourites.
Have a peaceful day all. ?
Good Morning All x Happy Birthday Grammaretto
Back to normal---rain and a heavy sky. Although it's welcome it doesn't know when to stop.
Yesterday was beautiful so I'd managed to finish the tail-end of the washing and got it dry no problem.
Cooked a lovely fresh chicken yesterday for today so a couple of meals sorted for the next two days, easy peasy.
I would guess that the children enjoyed their day out in Blackpool yesterday , the weather couldn't have been better for them all. No doubt I'll hear all about it at some point.
Fancy you being so close yesterday to where I am Susan, under normal conditions you could have popped in for a cuppa. Maybe another time when conditions allow x.
Thinking of Henry with his visit to hospital on Tuesday. Children and hospitals always sets the nerves on edge, but they're so resilient that it's you who's left dithering.
Marydoll you should have had a lie-down after that phone-call as it would have left you exhausted. Some people are unbelievably stupid. My patience would have well run out I'm afraid.
What a lovely story about your DD Taichinan, I see a happy ending for the family---delightful. I wish them well x.
Special thoughts to our " missing " friends and hope things improve for them. x
Have a peaceful day everyone and keep safe xx
Posted too soon! Happy birthday, Grammaretto.
To all who are struggling in any way, I hope today is kinder to you.
Take care everyone ?.
Good morning all,
It's a wet morning here in South Yorkshire and somewhat cooler than of late. It's surprising how quickly the grass recovers when it gets a soaking.
Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea yesterday, a gift given at Christmas. The venue was honouring vouchers that had, in theory, gone past their use by date owing to the pandemic. It was so nice to venture a little further afield again and experience a little bit of normality (albeit socially distanced normality). ?
Good morning from an overcast NE, again.
Very happy that family arrived safely on the Isle of Lewis and the weather was way better than what we are having.
Drove to my sister's and had a chat on the drive.
Photograph and message from elder sister, she was dining out with friends. The virus in Germany has not halted their socialising.
Waiting for parcel deliveries, birthday gifts for GDs, didn't expect them to come so quickly.
Happy birthday Grammaretto.
Good morning from Newcastle. It's cold and miserable here. Its day two of our patio being laid - the decking was rotten and dangerous- and weve got every door open for the guys to come and go from front to back of the house. And its freezing!!
Today marks the 1st anniversary of living here and we love it. Might have a warming bowl of soup later to celebrate
Taichigran you must be so happy for your DD. My son is a lone Dad with two boys and my dearest wish is for him to be in a happy and loving relationship and for my DGSs to be part of a bigger family. Having said that, he is a brilliant dad and I am very proud of him.
Oooh thank you for the useful tip urmstongran I’ll definitely raid DDs wardrobe when I arrive ?
Happy Birthday Grammaretto have a lovely day ???
Morning all from a wet, wet, wet South Notts. We've had constant drizzle since last night and I'm so pleased I could burst as the sticky heat was really getting me down.
I'll shop later but have little else planned so a quiet day. I spent some time yesterday in the garden cutting back two small willow trees which had gone a bit berserk.
How very annoying Marydoll - I could grit my teeth for you.
Hope all is well for everyone, especially those with worries or illness.
Happy Birthday to You Grammaretto ?
Have a relaxing one, hope you find lots of wild raspberries.
