Good morning from a bright E Kent. It actually rained for about 30 minutes yesterday. Lovely!
Got a bit confused This a.m. by a different GM thread. How very dare he?
Life is rather less free now that DS1 has started teaching again. He has classes and meetings from about 0730 to some 1730. It means we can’t do mundane things like vacuum or call out to each other through the house. It is very odd.
I might finish off the last 3 squares of my famous patchwork then think about assembling them.
“Lots” on this week - starting with dental checkup this morning, feet on Wednesday, Lunch out on Thursday, manicure (yay!) On Friday. How did I ever manage with so much to do?
Hope today brings comfort to those with difficulties. Stay safe.

Morning Mick and all who follow from cool Espana where the chamberpot is especially delightful after last night’s G and Ts!

Food shopping today and quizzing with friends this evening where it’s my turn to drive so that’ll keep me on the straight and narrow!

A good day for all please x

grandMattie Mon 17-Aug-20 06:41:35

Pant, I misread your post and though5 your chamber pot was full of G&T now! ? Golly, I thought, that’s brave...

Good morning and where are our usual early birds?
It's a dark with a heavy sky here this morning. DH is golfing, I don't hold out much hope for him staying dry.

Nothing much planned today apart from a call to the bank.
I tried to pay my credit card bill online last night and got a whole load of computer script, when I clicked the payment button.
Of course 24 telephone is no more, despite being called that. The bank closed at 5pm. ?

Some sewing alterations ( Tesco haul, * Cherry* and perhaps some baking.

Wishing everyone a pleasant day.

Marydoll Mon 17-Aug-20 06:43:42

There you all are!

brook2704 Mon 17-Aug-20 06:49:06

Good morning everyone from a damp cloudy Inverness.
I’m up early as today’s the day I’m going to visit my eldest daughter and DGS in Cambridge - yeah!!
I’m a bit anxious about what the the airport and flight experience will be like but it’s not for long so I’ll manage. DH sill has his part time job so is staying at home - I think he’s looking forward to having the house to himself for a while.....
Hope everyone has the best day possible and take care whatever the day brings ?

Marydoll Mon 17-Aug-20 06:50:24

brook, I hope you have a great time! Safe journey.

Nannytopsy Mon 17-Aug-20 07:08:04

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Suffolk is grey and damp this morning after some torrential rain yesterday. More forecast today but we can’t complain as the gardens and farms need it.
SiL coming to stay with her dogs in a couple of days, so there is lots of housework to do. The hot, humid weather seems to make everything feel sticky ( or is that the grandchildren ??)
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Good morning from a sunny Essex by the sea. Nice to see the sun after a few grey, and sometimes wet days.
As I'm going to spend a few days with DD1 on Wednesday, six months since I last saw them, I need to make sure all the housework is up to date. DH is staying here but doesn't notice dust and crumbs. He is going outside to start cutting down the ivy that is flourishing in a corner of the car park, then taking the bags of cuttings to the tip.
Have a lovely Monday wherever you may be and stay safe xx

kittylester Mon 17-Aug-20 07:31:07

Morning all from a grey and drippy North Leicestershire.

Putting the house back together after a lovely visit from DD2 and her family yesterday. We are so grateful that they make the effort to come here.

They took my mind off an incident that happened about 7pm on Saturday evening. I looked out of the kitchen window to find a man standing in the back garden. When he saw me looking he climbed the fence into next door. Apparently he had been spotting shoplifting in the village co-op and other shoppers had given chase. Very bizarre and unsettling.

Enjoy your days everyone.

Grammaretto Mon 17-Aug-20 07:31:41

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Another damp, dreich start here.
Thanks so much for all the birthday greetings . I had a lovely day and saw all the DC and DGC - some virtually.

We suffered with you Marydoll through your conversation with the AA. I hope your meds arrived.
DH is a bit better today after a proper sleep. I will leave him and go for a walk with a pal.

Have as much fun as you can and stay safe.

Good morning All. brook have a lovely time at your daughter's. Its another grey day here in Polmont. I'm rather scunnered by them. I'm doing my usual babysitting stint today and then tonight is a craft class via zoom. My aunt (younger than me) is coming over and will share in the technical stuff. Tonight we are making origami flowers. All the necessary stuff was delivered yesterday so I may show you tomorrow the fruits or rather flowers of my labour. So a busy Monday for me as dgs never stops! See you all tomorrow.

NannyJan53 Mon 17-Aug-20 07:42:33

Good Morning from a damp and grey Black Country. Had a lazy day yesterday, reading in the garden as it was quite warm and pleasant until it starting raining about 5pm

Off to meet Mum, her younger sister and my cousin for lunch today. Not seen Aunt and cousin since Mums 90th in January.

I had a letter Saturday inviting me to take part in a Covid-19 research study. So I signed up and awaiting for the test. Apparently names are chosen at random.

I hope you have a lovely time with your daughter brook and that the journey is stress free.

Wishing you all a good Monday.

Morning Mick and All.

Cloudy muggy day in South Bucks.

Meeting up with 5 WI friends in the garden of one of our members. It’s lovely to be back with them.

What a frightening experience Kitty.

Nortsat Mon 17-Aug-20 07:50:33

Good morning Mick and the GM team from sunny east London. We had some significant rain yesterday, which I am sure the garden is grateful for.

A family across the road had their daughters wedding in their garden yesterday. They had their house decked out with lights and a vintage car to take the bride and groom away. There were small children, in their wedding finery having their photographs taken in the vintage car ... it looked lovely.

Grocery delivery this morning and some admin to deal with.

Have a good day all?

Lins1066 Mon 17-Aug-20 07:52:37

Good Morning Mick and all from a cloudy but dry S Welsh coast. Yesterday turned out to be a dry day despite the forecast and quite warm in the afternoon. It was lovely to see the four year old chasing about the garden, she made me tired just looking at her.
Have a good time with your family brook. Hoping for a quiet day, some laundry to do but little else.
Have a good Monday.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 17-Aug-20 07:56:16

Good morning Mick and all

Bright blue sky here in S E Essex ?

Gym this morning, then I should do the ironing (might not?)

Keep safe and well folks?‍♀️

Gingster Mon 17-Aug-20 07:57:17

Good morning all and at last we’ve had a good drop of rain here on the Suffolk coast. We were so lucky as we had all the family here for the weekend and not a drop of rain. DD and her 4 scallywags leave this morning and then I’ll set about getting the house back in order. I’ve never known such untidy children. Teenagers just leave ‘stuff’ everywhere and lazy too! Oh dear I’m getting old! ?

grandMattie I too was thrown by the other good morning thread. What a liberty!

Have a lovely time with your DD Brook. I hope the flight turns out ok for you ?

Kittylester that incident sounded a bit scary. Hope you haven’t seen him since. ?

A peaceful day to all ?

Urmstongran Mon 17-Aug-20 08:00:34

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s another windy woo ?

I enjoyed my Chinese last night. We got a taxi back up (very brave of me, but not something I’m prepared to do very often - less is more during these uncertain times for me anyway). Himself was disappointed that Man Utd lost. Hey ho.

Staying out of the sun again today (you can have too much of a good thing) I don’t want to be nut brown like Madge was in ‘Benidorm’! Apparently the make up girls used to coat her in gravy browning to achieve that look.
?

I’m really into my new novel ‘The Silent Patient’. A Richard & Judy recommendation. Plus it topped the Sunday Times charts for a while. A thriller. I don’t read them often (can’t be doing with all the red herrings!) but it’s a nice change of genre.

Ooh enjoy your break brook at your daughter’s. I hope you managed to zip your grip bag up okay. Less is definitely more!

Hope Monday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

cornergran Mon 17-Aug-20 08:03:04

Morning Mick, morning All. A blue sky over our corner of Somerset, temperature has dropped but so pleased to see some brightness if only for a little while. Lots of catch up jobs for us today and a bit of re-jigging cupboards. Not Mr C’s favourite activity. Concerned for family members across the country in Norfolk flooded by surface water from a storm yesterday, will know more later. Safe trip brook, it will all be worth it. Take care everyone.

Morning all from a grey, wettish Lancashire...my 4yr old GS said yesterday that he Hope's the coronavirus doesn't come back and find grandma!!..so do I ?
Keep on keeping safe ,
Carpe diem ?

dogsmother Mon 17-Aug-20 08:04:11

Good Morning.
Sun shining here in the Channel, rather wish it wasn’t as I’d rather be hiding in dark corner recovering from yesterday’s excesses. The joys of being free of the bug and able to get out a gig...cider and dancing aplenty..

harrigran Mon 17-Aug-20 08:18:40

Good morning from the NE where we have torrential rain.
Nice chat with DD on Skype yesterday, she did warn me she might have to scoot off to get her washing in because there was a storm gathering. She was sitting in flimsy clothes with windows wide open and the heating was on in our house.
GD1 sent some photos from Lewis where they were on the beach, so pleased they got their holiday.
No plans for today.

Greyduster Mon 17-Aug-20 08:25:44

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Grey but dry so far in South. Yorkshire. We had a day of rain yesterday - ssome of it very heavy. Well, we asked for it! It gave us a chance to get into the garage and clear a space for SiL’s car top box which we said we would store for him. The only way we could do it was to chuck out our old tumble dryer which we haven’t used for nine years and it’s one of the “iffy” ones that might burst into flames anyway. I have a load of ironing to do today but we may try and get out for a walk. Have a good day folks.
