Good morning all - a big hug to Luckygirl , many of us will know what you are feeling. ??

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a bright start to the day, much like yesterday, although by mid morning we had more torrential rain. The weather forecast suggests today will turn out the same .

I posted quite late yesterday as I had an early start . But it was my sons 40th Birthday . I spent a lot of the day and night reminiscing over those years from when I was just 18 and a very naive and lonely young mother .

It was a long day yesterday and I was rewriting a quote well after 7.30 pm as the customer wanted it back for an early morning meeting today. I was about to send it when something just stopped me . They have changed a lot of things round and although I pretty much know what’s what (I’ve been doing it for almost 30 years) I decided that I had best let my right hand man look at it first, to be on the safe side. If we lose the job then so be it .

Yes I watch “Our Yorkshire Farm” Gingster I love it . Always think I would have loved the farming life although I know it would be very hard work in all kinds of weather .

I am so glad little Henry is getting looked after properly now Susan56 and that they get to the bottom of his allergies. Poor little lamb .

Thinking of our missing friends and those feeling under the weather too. Hoping we all see a little metaphorical in our lives today .

brook and Grandmabatty, pity you're not near where I live or I would buy dinosaur cutters and give them to you. I also have a fairy and unicorn for 'my' little girl, though sometimes she prefers to use the shark one ha ha. There's an incredible cook stall in a market near here and it has every cutter shape you can imagine, even an octopus!

I have wifi on my phone but can't work on the laptop or attend meetings or yoga on zoom.

The hospital dispensary was one tablet short yesterday and she asked if we could come back for it. I said no but DH, ever considerate, remembered he has a scan booked next week so yes we can.
3 hr round trip for one tablet.
The world has gone totally batty.

Good morning Mick and the GM team from grey east London.
The air is heavy here and so breathing is challenging for me. I think we will have a quiet day.
I was tired yesterday (breathing issues) and so we had a takeaway for supper and opened a bottle of wine (on a non wine evening).

So the food I prepared for yesterday’s supper is in the fridge for this evening ... that makes it nice and easy.

Thinking of Luckygirl today.

We must be very lucky with pharmacists,can’t be the only ones surely, At the beginning of lockdown and husband shielding and in hospital for a week, a friend arranged for all our medication (quite a lot) to be delivered following a request each time. The strange thing is we have never been in this particular shop or met any staff! Long may it last ??much appreciated.

I have just checked to see that DH has provided a sparkling pool. The temperature is heading up to 30 degrees again, but have just peeped outside whilst there's enough shadow to take a photo. Am sending this little sunny view from my front door to cheer anyone who needs it and who is missing the light and the sunbeams today.

Serendip Yes it is wow, wow, WOW......but your wonderful 25 visits have been to the opposite end of the coast. We are bottom left and much nearer to the Spanish border, so have beautiful Aigues-Mortes, Sète, the Camargue, Nimes, Collioure, Agde, Minerve, St Guilhem le Désert, Montpellier, Carcassonne, Toulouse within our grasp! In "normal" times (ha!) it's easy to pop into Spain or Italy if the mood takes us. That mood has taken us a helluva lot this year but, sadly, what can we do, except sit tight and wait for better times to come?

NanKate. Oooh, Congratulations! Kittylester Relieved for you both.....and hurrah for warts, eh? Hope Mr G is feeling stronger, Grammaretto. Special medal for Henry - one for courage at all those scratches. You must all be cheered, Susan - his problems certainly don't detract from his looks, do they. He gets more handsome each photo!

I would guess that it will actually be a photo of Mellow's dinosaurs, if we get one, because her little GS will be far too busy playing Boy-in-a-Box to be involved in baking today!

Gillybob. well done.....think you need to focus on recovering all that time spent on 1,001 questions and increase your estimate accordingly. Good luck!

Grandmabatty Fortunately, the speed that I was travelling around the garden in all that rain the other night probably warded off anything resembling a chill ! Have obliterated the unwanted new Olive growth and managed to find some lovely succulents plus flowers whilst doing so. Normally I just pull anything in the gravel that might resemble a weed straight out and into the bag for the dump. However, they are now in pots because I've left them long enough this year to see what developed!

Currently waiting to snatch the ironing off the line before it burns to a crisp. Later some food shopping (hateful, hateful, hot and steamy behind my mask), but then relax and out later this evening to friends for one of their suppers in the garden. No cooking for us today which must be a cause for celebration.

Good morning all from a bright grey start in Glasgow. Similar start yesterday until the heavens opened which spoiled a visit from an ex colleague of DH. They were so enjoying trips down memory lane which was sadly cut too short. This chap was part of my ‘crowd’ when I was 16, he is now 73!

What a brave little soldier Henry is Susan and pleased to hear you now have confirmation of his allergies. Years ago we discovered DH has an intolerance to dairy , eggs and any type of seed which caused him outbreaks of Urticaria. We substituted dairy for soya products, he stopped eating anything containing seeds and thankfully no more outbreaks. He can tolerate duck eggs. Fingers crossed for Henry. ?

Bed stripped, washed and hanging out as we are promised a dry day today and that is the highlight of my day so far?

Enjoy making brownies with your GD Sar. My 11yr old DG is another of few words in her message replies, OK, seems to cover everything! Have a lovely time with your family.

Good morning all. A bright dry here in Carlisle cheers ones day. Yes Gingster I watched Life on a Yorkshire Farm last night. What an amazing cheerful family coping with the storms on the Yorkshire moors. It made me realise how easy my life is. Gardening on the agenda today which I love. Pruning and thinning the apple trees. A bumper crop this year. A wonderful day to you all.

Bright enough but feeling a bit unsettled with cloud lingering. It's not cold though.

Must cut the climbing jasmine as there are tendrils travelling in all directions, they'll be poking through the patio window soon if I'm not careful. I can't believe the way these things are growing in front of my eyes. Worse than ivy.

I think the grasscutters have forgotten us as it's been about 3 weeks since they were here----the cats will be getting lost , plus it holds the rain more.

Some tidying up to get done and being as I haven't rang D yet I'll do that too. She's probably out and about buying shoes and uniforms.

Spain will be lovely weatherwise for weeks to come, how I wish our weather was as steady it would make a huge difference. Friend and I used to go as soon as the kids started school in September, it was a regular trip. Make the most of it ladies. I'd be quite happy staying there until our winter's over here Urmston.

What a palava with your prescriptions Marydoll, it shouldn't be happening considering you need so much. They need to prioritise and get it right.

Good news about Henry, just a matter of trial and error for the time being. One of my AGD's was allergic to dairy products in her younger years, as was a GS who only drank soya milk as a baby, but all's well.

hello from a wet shirley near croydon (shirley being the village). still its warm ,and the plants do like the rain ,tomatoes getting bigger .ate all the potatoes that i grew yesterday ,5 solitary runnerbeans still growing . am thinking of moving my pink hydranger as its got no flowers now due to kids playing football in the communal gardens, says no ball games .and have spoken to the parent.but plants still getting damaged.have reported to council once again.

A late good morning from South Lanarkshire where I have been up and dressed since 7.30 waiting for workmen to come and take down my old garage. This is the second time they have promised to come and my heart is sinking! I’ve come on having read your post Grandmafrench, it brought back such happy memories of our first camping holiday in France, 45 years ago, in Argeles sur Mer, which no doubt will have changed out of recognition. We visited beautiful Collioure and the children joined in the lantern lit procession through Aigues-Mort on Bastille Day and they still remember their excitement.

Ooh wouldn't you just love to give workmen a slap sometimes, stilllearning? They (hopefully) have no idea of the misery they can cause with their vague promises while we all run about like idiots !

Argeles has changed. It was the place where my Son taught himself to swim in the huge shallow inlets coming off the beach between tides. We had glorious camping holidays there too, years ago. Loads of people of all nationalities sitting under the pines and talking in the late evenings whilst their little kids ran amok playing "international" games like hide and seek and tag. No need for any foreign language knowledge at that age! Argeles is, apparently, now very expensive !! Collioure is so very pretty - but no room at the inn during peak holiday times, of course. Hope that garage gets dismantled and SOON.

Ellan great minds. We've just given one of our jasmine a massive haircut. It was marching across the roof obviously hoping to meet up with another one climbing from the other side of the house ! Take care of yourself. x

Susan, Henry is one very brave little boy. Seems he took all those needles in his stride. I'm not surprised that you were all right about what he's allergic to, family know best. Apart from nuts it's exactly the same allergies my great nephew1 had. As I've said before he's strong and healthy now. The allergy specialist did exactly the same as has been decided as a course of action for Henry. As Marydoll says - take heart from the photo of her son, a strong figure of a man, x.

I really do take heart from the photo of Marydoll’s son and from all of you who have children,grandchildren and nephews with similar allergies and who are now older and coping well.
The support I have had on the good morning thread and in soop’s kitchen have really helped me through this tricky time.

Oh Marydoll, Precriptions can be such a problem. Last year I found a chemist who delivers, maybe you should ask at your surgery about it?
Susan, you have my sympathy, dairy an eggs are very difficult to avoid. My DD had an allergy to eggs and I took her to the Homeopathic Hospital in Glasgow (don't know if it still exists), I was told how to desensitise her and it worked.
I'm making the most of having to rest my leg after my foot op on Monday. When going to the hospital we were confronted with a barrier - I was told to press the button to raise it. I pressed every button, one replied "This is the Mortuary, can I help you?" I just said "Sorry I'm not ready yet!"

Gwen, my pharmacy won't deliver, I'm too far away.

My GP's surgery is right next to the pharmacy in another town. My prescriptions are quite complicated and forever being amended. It makes it all much easier to stick with them if there are problems. The pharmacist has been known to run into the surgery to check something.
I think the problem is that they are overstretched.

Even if I changed pharmacies, I would have to go, pick them up and take them to pharmacy nearer me. Believe it or not, this is less hassle!

Grandmafrench, my youngest daughter, aged 2, hadn’t spoken a single word and thanks to those games you describe, suddenly said to her new pal ‘Au revoir’. The rest of the family looked at her in astonishment and one of them said ‘Maybe that’s why she doesn’t speak, maybe she’s French!!

Good afternoon all from what was until 30 minutes ago a grey dismal Angus coast. I slept in this morning so am running late - for what, I don't know, but late! Lovely to read everyone's posts but my mind is now boggling trying to remember who said what. Sorry you got the crabbit pharmacist Marydoll - I'd have been fair scunnered about that on top of everything else ?. Which reminds me I was thinking about Scottish words and came up with a couple from round here. If you're new to the area you're an "inabootcomer" (and if you weren't actually born here, that means you!) And if you live with someone without benefit of matrimony, that person is your "bidie-in". My late partner and I quickly discovered that living together was not an option for us so I always called him my "bidie-oot". Anyway, so glad your DH has a wart Kitty" - I had that experience myself a few years ago. So pleased you all now know what you're dealing with *Susan with regard to little Henry and it must be encouraging to hear other GN's stories. Your photo is so lovely and warm and relaxing Grandmafrench, I can almost smell it and feel it. Now I'm off to enjoy the sun on the Angus coast as it doesn't seem sure whether to stay or not. I love that, stilllearning - throw a group of littlies together without a word of each other's language and they play and mix and lark about as if they've known each other forever. A bonus is learning new words which they soak up like sponges because they're too young to feel awkward at speaking something new. Wish grown ups managed to do the same thing !
