What is your favourite proverb?

So many to choose from, but one of mine is;

‘The road to hell is paved with good intentions’.

I like Many a Mickle makes a Muckle. What a fab way of saying lots of little things make a big thing. Loved that for yearsgrin

MawB2 G'Day! Nice to "hear" from you again! Hope you've been keeping well, but please tell me; you're now B2 and not 2B, but before you were B and before that you were MawBroon, then MawBroonsback again! confused

Have I missed something or simply confused myself!?
I do remember admiring the specs being worn by one of you. but which? That is the question. smile
Good Health

"I thought I was poor because I had no shoes until I saw a man who had no feet". It's so easy to take for granted what we have.

‘He who knows, and knows he knows,
He is a wise man: heed him.
He who knows, and knows not he knows,
He is asleep: wake him.
He who knows not, and knows he knows not,
He is a child: teach him.
He who knows not, and knows not he knows not,
He is a fool: shun him.’

Take what you want and pay for it, says God.
(Spanish proverb, I believe.)

My late mum used to say “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush”.
Whereas my dad’s favourite was “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”. Like one of your responders, I was brought up on proverbs.

Favourite- A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. Proverbs 11.25

Funniest (but true!) - Like one who grabs a stray dog by the ears is someone who rushes into a quarrel not their own. Proverbs 26.17
