My most hated is washing up.
The dishwasher has just packed up, and I can’t get to John Lewis quickly enough!
Yet I have read about people who have a dishwasher and don’t use it! Madness!
The thought of all that yucky washing up after cooking the evening meal really makes my heart sink.
First World problems and all that, but none of us is perfect.

Hate doing the bathroom and sorting out cupboards and drawers. The bathroom takes me ages as i have to have it looking perfect. So i have made a rod for my own back. As for sorting out, i can never decide what to get rid of, so usually end up putting it all back until the next time!!! smile

Cleaning the oven, but Oven Pride is really good. Put the racks in the giant bag, leave overnight, rinse off next day and they are super clean. Rest of the bottle gets painted onto the oven and takes off most of the gunge without a great deal of effort. I like cleaning windows, I just use water and a micro fibre cloth followed by a blade. Usually rains the next day but hey ho.

Hate all housework ! But love cleaning the car, checking oil tyres etc, mowing grass, growing tomatoes. So no prizes for guessing who I spent more time with as a kid, mum or dad? Lol.

I used to hate cleaning the inside of the shower cubicle but we don't have one now - only curtains, or open as it's a wet room.
I used to end up getting soaked.

I’m not sure of GN guidelines on product sponsorship but I’d appreciate some recommendations for cleaning hard floors. I’ve tiles in the kitchen and conservatory but real wood in the Hall.

For the past few years, I’ve used a steam mop - the first a ‘sh**k’ broke the first time my DH tried to use it. (Think he did it deliberately?). Then I lashed out on an H2O which was expensive but lasted years. These things aren’t repairable when they stop working.
My next purchase was a V*x - a third of the H price, but it’s given up the ghost now! I’m back to a trusty old Minit mop, but it retains too much liquid to use on the wood floor. Has anyone used anything they could recommend?

Back to the OP - I’ve not cleaned my inside windows since April!! Can still see out of them, so I guess it’s not desperate, yet? X

I hate all of it. All my hobbies seem to make a mess so what is the point of cleaning up. wink wink

catladyuk Wed 26-Aug-20 12:08:28

All of it really but most of all I absolutely hate washing my hair and changing duvet covers, single ones I can cope with but the king sized ones drive me to a frenzy! I've tried all the supposed 'easy' ways to do it and still end up hot and bothered as they don't seem to be any easier at all!

Just remembered there is one thing I like - mopping the floor. Baking isn't housework to me, more a pleasure.

Cleaning the fridge. Taking all the food out takes ages as I keep a lot of sauces in there. But worst of all I can’t find the switch to turn off the alarm. We bought the fridge with the house and I love it because it’s huge. Until it needs cleaning....

Top of the list is putting shopping away. The whole shopping thing is mind numbing. Pick off a shelf place in trolley. Empty onto conveyor, pick up put in bags. Take bags from trolley , place in car. Take from car into house. Empty out into cupboards etc. At least with click and collect or delivery half of the process is eliminated.

Chores - I hate all of them. When working f-t with 2 kids, I did as little as possible. Now they're adults and I'm retired, I'm not about to start bring religiously houseproud.

Craftycat Wed 26-Aug-20 11:37:08

I'm not bothered about anything much- it all has to be done so I just get on with it. The only thing I do put off until it REALLY needs doing is defrosting the freezer in the kitchen. It is only 4 drawers but it takes forever & I have piles of frozen food sitting around getting warm on the kitchen counters.
Last month I suddenly realised that if I wait until the freezers in the garage are not full I can just put it all in there overnight & let the small freezer defrost properly( Can't believe I never thought of that before!!) I have yet to find a way of not flooding the kitchen. I do put loads of towels down but it still soaks through.

Weeding the garden and mowing lawns.

Azalea99 Wed 26-Aug-20 11:20:55

Thanks for that tip, Happysexagenarian. I’ll try it!

HootyMcOwlface Wed 26-Aug-20 11:18:15

Yes I hate bathrooms too - I think it’s the hair ?

Trudy1 Wed 26-Aug-20 11:16:33

I HATE cleaning bathrooms don't mind any other housework

HootyMcOwlface Wed 26-Aug-20 11:15:34

I hate all housework and gardening. I last cleaned my oven about two years ago. I took the door off to clean between the two glass panels and couldn’t get the flaming thing back on! I was nearly crying! Dropped one of the screws too and spent ages crawling round the floor looking for it. Never again! ?

Witzend Wed 26-Aug-20 11:14:08

Probably cleaning the oven, which is why it gets done once in a blue moon. I love the style of a colleague’s sister, who couldn’t face cleaning hers after she’d put it off for so long - so she just bought a new one! Respect!

But I dislike all housework TBH. Doing the same old things which only need doing again in a few days (or weeks.).

Re ironing sheets and duvet covers, esp. king size! - honestly why does anyone bother? We have super king size duvet covers and I stopped ironing them ages ago - after a day or so the creases drop out anyway.

For our guest king size I have patterned duvet covers* that honestly don’t show creases anyway, though I will usually iron the (plain) pillowcases in guests’ honour.
*Dark blue Strawberry Thief, in case anyone wants to know!

bongobil Wed 26-Aug-20 11:11:15

Hate them all! Need to do some though

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 26-Aug-20 11:08:59

Cleaning the oven, which somehow I have ignored for quite a while!

nipsmum Wed 26-Aug-20 11:06:06

Housework. Do it today and it needs Done tomorrow. I haven't ironed anything in years. I don't mind washing and cooking and I pay a company to clean cooker and oven when it really needs doing.

HannahLoisLuke Wed 26-Aug-20 11:01:30

My most hated chore is in the garden. I have various large evergreen shrubs like privet, yew, laurel and lonicera nitida that I like to keep trimmed into rounded or spire shapes. Because they're all about eight feet tall it means wobbling about on a step ladder with an electric hedge trimmer and the damned things grow so fast in the summer that I have to do it every three weeks. Hate it.
On the other hand I love doing the small box balls with shears.
In the house, like others, it's ironing so I hardly do any. A good blow on the line usually takes care of most of the creases, and the others I don't notice!
Hate turning the mattress too, in fact I can't manage it anymore so it doesn't get done and I can feel it needs it.

leeds22 Wed 26-Aug-20 10:52:04

Hate Cleaning the shower. Due to my back problems DH has now taken over that chore, phew. Don’t mind ironing but gave up ironing duvet covers, sheets towels, etc a long, long, time ago.
Generally dislike most housework.

Paperbackwriter Wed 26-Aug-20 10:50:22

Can't say I like ANY domestic chores at all, to be honest! I never use the hoover (the cleaner does it) and my husband finds cleaning the oven a Manly Challenge so he quite enjoys the awful chemicals. I'm happier in the garden.
