I'm colouring my roots (Ash Blonde), have hung some washing out, been to Sainsbury's, vacuumed through the downstairs. The husband has been using some new tool he bought to remedy the squeaky floorboards upstairs - I've only been waiting 3 1/2 years for him to do them

Yesterday my DH was up in the attic (something he rarely does) suddenly there were explosive expletives. Yes, he'd crashed his head on the low rafters and had blood dripping everywhere!! Fortunately he was able to get himself down and I had to bathe the mess. Apart from a bit of a headache he's fine. Now he knows why I keep a fur hat up there to protect my head when I'm ferreting there.

Good morning all from another pleasant day in Glasgow.

My usual habit of opening windows on a good day backfired on me yesterday as I used the incinerator safely placed in the garden, I realised too late although a safe site, I forgot to close our bedroom windows. Early evening I opened all bedroom windows in an attempt to get rid of the smell,of smoke but it was still lingering at bedtime. Won’t make that mistake again!

DD1 and the girls arrived around 3.30. We initially sat in the garden with the girls busily designing the self coloured masks we bought them. This is a fad at school, comparing how you have designed your masks?. We later went indoors, opened all windows and doors in the kitchen and for the first time in months, enjoyed a meal together, something we did regularly.
They eventually left at 8.30. It was so good to have the kitchen full of chat and laughter again, a perfect day.

I would happily come down to administer your injection, correctly placed plaster and all Marydoll. If only it were allowed?

Good grief gilly is that tag still on? You, more than many deserve a treat all for you. Please shed the guilt and enjoy wearing your new jacket. ??

Good morning everyone from a sunny but cold North East. Going to go into Durham today for a walk by the river and then up to the cathedral although it will probably be busy. Good morning from Newcastle where its sunny at the moment. Not much planned for today and being retired Bank Holidays are little different from any other day. Every day is a holiday nowadays. I lived in Scotland until fairly recently and August BH didn't exist although there were plenty of local holidays throughout the year.
I hope your DH is not too sore sar after his fall. My DH fell off his bike a few weeks ago ( cut up by a white van, he braked and went head over handlebars) Today is the first day he has gone out riding his bike again and I seem to have butterflies performing ballet in my stomach as I write this! I'm sure he will be safe but I can't help feeling anxious.

No holiday for us - except for retirement, of course! Next of our 11 official PH’s will be 1st Nov - All Saints and 11 Nov - Armistice Day. Be glad when the (extended) holiday season is over and everyone just goes home this year. People have seriously been taking the mickey and Covid infections have gone mad this month.

So sorry to hear that your DH fell badly, Sar. Make him take it easy today - just in case? Mary - nearly another fine mess, you are just so norty ?! Really good luck with that claim.....give ‘em hell and a swoosh of that red hair.

What a fabulous friend you are, Georgesgran. Times like moving house certainly sort out the men from the boys, don’t they...or in your case, the friends from the family. Hope it works out for her, and I reckon your DH would do the same for a friend of his, so don’t worry.

Welcome greengreengrass from W-s-M. It is a lovely thread, we don’t do ‘nasty’ on here, we just have a laugh and give support and friendship. EV I miss talking to all the animals. I have my inside ones, but it was the outside ones that used to provide a fund of daily surprises and fun. We always left some doors open and one evening I couldn’t locate a pair of my Muscovies....only because they had walked inside and were settled on a rug staring at the tv.

DH is already painting new kitchen shelves. I have laundry to hang out in a very hot, strong wind.

To all with worries and stress...hope you can take a day off from that today. Have a good Monday and keep safely soldiering on - whilst finding a bit of fun, everyone. Thinking of you all, especially those unwell. And gilly - you NEED it, so you bought it, and you deserve it. Take off the blimmin’ tags and tell yourself just for once, ‘I’m worth it’. x

Good morning Mick and the GM team from a fairly pleasant east London (that doesn’t read well so I am probably irritating the pedants, already).
The weather was very pleasant here yesterday but not quite warm enough to eat outside last night.

We have a grocery delivery this morning (I am surprised the deliveries are going ahead on a BH Monday) and my partner has one private pupil on Zoom... then the day is ours.

I think we need to do some work in the garden today. The blackberries are getting out of hand and the pyracantha is very enthusiastic.

Jax, I sympathise with the effects of medication... it’s a daily challenge here.

Morning everyone. Sky is bright blue and clear in south Cornwall, but temperature quite cool. Lovely, I can feel autumn just round the corner! Will be painting a patio table set today to match new blue swing seat which has taken me much energy to assemble! I love a good repaint ha ha. Have the best day you can all of you.

Good morning all. I’m having a rare day off work but not complaining as the lockdown made me realise how much I need the social side of me nurtured. I will catch up on washing and a bit of gardening and maybe read a chapter of my book. Exciting life but I’m so glad of the day off for catch up. Have a lovely day all.

Good morning from Durham. Dry but cold. Another day helping friend with her move. Filled DH’s vehicle full of plants yesterday and taking mine today to load and store her clothes overnight. Still no sign of her ASs helping which is such a shame, given her ex-DH’s son has travelled up from London to help him!
I think my DH is a little miffed that I’m spending so much time out of the house, but don’t think he realises just how hard this is for her. The actual move is tomorrow and I’ve put aside the rest of the week to be ‘available’.

Enjoying reading everyone’s plans for today. Hope those with practical problems manage to get them sorted. I wish those with heavy hearts and poor health a gentle day. X

DH had a broken night so we are both like limp rags this morning but will try and get out for a walk by the river later and then do a bit in the garden. Chicken curry for dinner. Good morning from a bright Morecambe Bay. Off gardening today. Had a look at the church garden which we sorted out a few weeks ago. We haven’t been back because of the rain. We were horrified! All our clearing has just allowed the weeds to flourish so it’s back to square one! I shouldn’t be surprised because that always happens when you clear a neglected bed. It will need two or three good clearings before it settles down. I was just hoping this wouldn’t be the case this time.
Gilly that’s why you suffer in * that place * you must allow yourself the occasional treat and not feel guilty!

A brightish start but not too bad. Yesterday wasn't bad at all and nice and warm in the sun when outside reading the paper. Did some deep breathing while I was at it but I wished I'd kept my walking up all these months as I know I've stiffened up.

I bet your DH is stiff and sore after his fall yesterday Sar53. While reading about it I felt every bump, it's one of my dreads. Hope he's okay though.

Another dread was Marydoll's bramble-tangle I can't imagine having all the scratches and remaining thorns---oh dear. I never used to " wrap myself in cotton-wool " like this, I suppose it's age and the warfarin that's wrecked me {grin]
I could just go some bramble jelly on crusty bread.

Because I had the patio door open yesterday in the sun, I had two visitors ! The old stray Tom strolled in to eat the cats biscuits, then the squirrel hopped in and stood, arms folded, looking at me asking for peanuts. Old Tom is very nervy and wary but the squirrel wasn't. In fact there are two squirrels as I noticed there's one with a stripy tail like a racoon, most unusual.

I'm going to call myself Mrs" Dolittle "---in every sense of the word . It's like a zoo. I love it though.

Sun's back out again and it's lovely so I'll be doing some pruning while the going's good or the wandering jasmine will be making an appearance via the patio door as well as the animals---no kidding, it doesn't know when to stop and is trailing over the Tom's kennel.

Good morning from the NE coast where the weather is a little brighter this morning but very cold . Feels like October or maybe even November. At 8.30am we were seeing 6 degrees on the outside thermometer. Yes single figures in August !

I am calling into “that place” for a couple of hours today and picking miss Evie Buttons up on my way back . I will have her until late this evening . I will have my grandson at work with me for the rest of the week . He doesn’t go back to school until the middle of September which will be virtually 6 months with no contact from the school whatsoever.

I’m so sorry to hear that your DH has had a nasty fall Sar53 and I hope he is feeling a lot better today .

Enjoy your stay at the beach Pantglas I’m sure the weather will be lovely . We have the most amazing stretch of coastline just a stones throw away from my house but sadly we didn't really get a summer this year .

I still haven’t taken the tags off my jacket Beechnut as I still feel terribly guilty for buying it in the first place . It’s still folded up in the carrier bag taunting me

I Am still thinking about our missing friends dragonfly , BlueSapphire and Bellasnana and those who are feeling poorly or under the weather too.

We had the heating on both Sat and Sun pm - might not have if we hadn’t had a guest staying, but it was lovely.

Good morning All. It's a beautiful morning here in Polmont. I've been to the local aldi to pick up whole milk for dgs and flowers for dd. It's a short shift for me today as dd is on holiday but going for a massage. Time to herself is long overdue. We had family breakfast yesterday and it was a bit disappointing. The waitress was not using her mask at all and the meal was ok but nothing more than that. Today will be babysitting this morning then I might brave a garden centre this afternoon as I want pots and bulbs. Have a good day all.

Good Morning from a dull but still warm Black Country.

We managed to have a BBQ last night and sat out until 8pm. Took Mum home, so it was 9pm before I could relax.

Not sure what the plans are for today, being as Partner is now retired, every day is a BH for us

I am having a similar problem with my Credit card company Marydoll. I made the claim at the end of May and no acknowledgement so far. I will have to ring them this week I think. My claim is for a holiday with Shearings, who collapsed in May. Hoping you have no problems with the injection.

Do you have any plans to come back to the UK soon Urmston? Or will you stay a few weeks longer?
