Dh came home with him last night, he was wandering near our house, not apparently distressed.
The lack of a collar did make me mad - it’s the 3rd time over the years we’ve had to look after a lost dog with no collar /identity disc.
Thank goodness the frantic owner was eventually traced via social media. Yes, he was chipped - not much use to us last night! - and it transpired that he’d run off across an often busy main road before making it to our vicinity.
He’d had a harness on, but no collar and the owner had taken the whole thing off - how on earth was anyone supposed to catch or restrain him when he was so close to a main road?
Luckily he seemed happy to follow dh home, but in the past I’ve known a collarless dog in the same area, lost and running around in panic and distress - and so very hard to catch and take to safety.
???
So relieved that owner was found, though - I was so afraid that he’d been abandoned.
