Beware the Amazon Prime Scam !

On another note though amazon prime is a nightmare to cancel, purposely I reckon. I also found out I’d paid for three months subscription to Audible unbeknownst to me.

I just hang up.

I have had this call three times after the first one I just hang up

Considering we were already subscribing £7.99 monthly to Amazon just to get through emergency needs in the lockdown period, I was still getting the very same calls, stating they were about to take £79 for an annual subscription to Amazon Prime.
It drove me bonkers so we've now cancelled altogether. Their prices are often uncompetetive so you end up paying postage either way, Prime or not.

i don't use any of these services because i don't like dealing with things i can't understand. i rather have inconvenience than worry, uncertainty, risk beyond my ken.

I've had these calls and just hang up. Nothing has been taken from my account and my subscription isn't due until December.

It seemed I inadvertently signed up monthly when I started having more things delivered during lockdown, I decided to let to my membership drift on as I'd started viewing various stuff they have on offer. Previously I'd done the same thing, free month's trial, but cancelled, I think I Googled how to do that and followed the instructions. I believe they offer "Audible" on the same free month's trial basis, so again you need to be quick on the up take and cancel that before that free period expires otherwise that's another £7.99.

I'd regard any calls regarding my membership charges as a scam. I think it's a good thing to post about such experiences to alert others.

I'm not kidding but the chap who rang me was so persistent that I hung up and blow me he rang again using a different number ! I was fuming with him. The prefix of the first call was 01113. It was India.

We have had those calls but only just after placing orders with Amazon. Seems suspicious to us.

We are also both waiting for a knock on the door to arrest us because we didn't 'press 1' when HMRC rang and told us we owe money.

We believe there can be inside information with some of these. How come that when we left TalkTalk the frequent calls about it stopped.

No calls re Amazon but two recent calls this week from Bolton claiming we owe HMRC money and if not paid, we will be arrested. Yet another scam I ignored.

We have had those Amazon calls. I just put the phone down. Also we get e-mail saying that someone in Lancashire has been trying to access our account. We just delete those after checking our account. As someone said, always a few days after buying something?

We had a call like this today, 2 days after putting in one of our rare Amazon orders. It was a recorded voice, not a real person and I just hung up. They could have got our phone number from the book, I suppose, as we are still in it.

This sort of thing is a reason why we don't use a credit card when we do order from them, but buy vouchers from the supermarket. The less information they have about us the better!

Yes just had the HMRC call three times this week so annoying.

I had a supposed call from HMC this week. My husband was watching the news on TV, but as I put the phone down he looked up and asked who it was. I replied that it was someone advising me that I was about to be arrested. He turned back to the television saying”There is a dog on here that has been rescued after swimming half a mile out to sea after a seagull”. I feel he is not taking as much interest as he should in my welfare.

I occasionally get them on my outlook (Sky) email ‘ your emails have been held until....’ never read the rest, just delete. Not missing anything I was expecting. Have reported.

This week I’ve had calls about my boiler maintenance agreement, washing machine insurance, Amazon taking £79.99, HMRC investigating me for fraud and someone telling me a £600 transaction has been made on my credit card!

Really proud of myself today! Got a call from "Ryan", a possibly unlikely name, given his strong accent, with a rather garbled message about £49.99 having been taken from my Amazon account (or possibly put into my account? ) and involving a gift card. He finished by saying "What do you want me to do, Mrs When?" and I had the presence of mind to tell him that I couldn't possibly say as I was not used to using that kind of language on the phone. Surprisingly, he hung up.

There is no way any money can be taken 'unbeknownst' from my account because Starling Bank app tells me every day what has gone out of my account, a quick and easy way of keeping tabs on spending.

(I'm very pleased with the service from this bank, signed up because I read an article about the founder and was impressed).

EllanVannin it may be the first call of many. A woman called us about 15 times over three weeks; I just told her to go away (well, to that effect) and put the phone down.

We had the Amazon call at least 3 times a day for around two weeks then it stopped. Now I keep getting calls on my mobile form different numbers with a country code for Italy. I don't answer them so hopefully they will give up eventually.

I’ve taken to answering the phone, listening but not saying anything, the caller always hangs up pretty promptly.

Guess who was CEO at TalkTalk before she was handed the Test, Track and Trace job? Correct!

I was phoned twice this week. Both times I put the phone down. First time said £79 was being taken and second time £39. I checked my Amazon account and the renewal date is in July
