Ironing.

i cannot remember ever ironing anything.
i can't see the point of it.

The thought of ironing is enough to put me off doing it!

I was given a steam press earlier this year and I love it. I put a film on Netflix and press away! I love my cotton sheets and pillowcases being neatly pressed.

My mum used to iron everything, although she used to say she wasn't ironing the towels, "Just running the iron over them!"

I iron as little as possible
Why would anyone need to iron a fitted sheet. They smooth out as soon as you stretch them over the mattress.

My dd uses her hair straighteners to ‘iron’ any wayward collars and cuffs.

I've gone from ironing nothing to ironing some stuff. My mum used to iron everything and I mean everything! Even tights were ironed with a tea towel on top. And tea towels and socks! When my children were younger and I was married I hated ironing and paid for it to be done. All those shirts. Then I did no ironing. A quick shake and fold or I hung clothes up straight away. Now it's just me so I iron clothes that need it and crumpled bedding. But it doesn't take long

I only iron anything when I really need too. I iron the fitted sheets and quilt and pillow cases once on the bed. Much easier I find.

I really enjoy ironing! I iron everything apart from underwear and towels. Mind you, I have a steam generator iron, which I wouldn't be without and the ironing board and iron are permanently set up in our spare room, so no faffing about getting things set up. My married son does all his own ironing, as and when he needs a shirt; when he and his wife and DGD stayed with us for a few weeks between moving houses, he hung all his shirts up in his previous wardrobe here, all unironed. I was itching to iron them all and finally succumbed - all 35 shirts in one afternoon! I was quite happy to do all their ironing whilst they stayed and they were quite happy to let me!

I don't iron. I never needed to iron my work uniform, just hung it up after drying. Bedding, towels, underwear???? Why?

The lovely husband is a very casual dresser in retirement! The few things, mostly shirts, I have I use one of these hand held steamer things. Admittedly it doesn't give the smooth crisp effect left by an iron, but it's perfectly wearable for me.

I quite enjoy ironing- except tiny little girls' frocks with lots of flounces!
I never iron T-shirts or jeans, very few clothes [blouses/dresses, DH trousers, shirts]... but do the sheets [as in sheets and blankets], pillowcases, tea-towels because they fit better in the drawer.

My ironing board is set up permanently by the spare bedroom window (behind the net curtains - I see people and buses go by) and it gets used as a 'standing desk' for other tasks. I press needlework and sewing projects. I neither love or hate it but often I don't get round to it as quickly as I should - it's just the thought of it. Once I get started I'm ok. I iron t-shirts, tea towels, pyjamas and pillowcases but never sheets.

I iron nothing! When I moved into my current flat about 24 years ago I swore that I wouldn't ever iron anything again, and I haven't. I hated ironing with a passion.
I now no longer have an iron or ironing board, and I'm no worse off for not ironing things.

My elder sister was once staying with younger sister, to help out in an emergency and look after little niece.
Thinking she’d do some ironing, she spent ages looking for an iron/ironing board, and when younger sister finally came home, asked her where on earth they were.

I do a lot less than I used to. Might just iron pillowcases for guests, no other bedding. Never ironed towels or underwear - can’t believe anyone ever did!

I used to iron (when I did any!) in a spare room with a TV, and would usually do it when Heir Hunters or something else I enjoyed was on.

However since dh retired he has taken over that room as his lair (study) which is another reason I do so little now.

A friend once said her husband had asked her to do some ironing as he was running out of boxer shorts.
My daughter was aghast and said Mum, that is just wrong, and on so many levels.

I'm another one with lots of linen. I don't dislike ironing but there are plenty of things I don't iron.
I do find it so much more satisfying since I had a new ironing board though!

I fold everything as soon as it comes out of the washing machine - this removes most of the creases. After hanging it out to dry I fold it again and it's ready to use. There are no creases and it doesn't need ironing - even bedding.

It works with tumble drying too provided it is folded as soon as the drying is finished.

I wear quite a lot if linen and have linen sheets , these all definitely need ironing! Why would anyone iron towels I always understood that they weren't as absorbent if they were ironed ?!

I don’t iron, my husband irons his shirts, jeans? I exist in t shirts, sweat shirts, jumpers, shorts and jeans. Body heat gets any creases out. Never ironed bedding/towels/tea towels/underwear.

I iron to fill the time, I do it slowly. I also iron to do something when the tv is on to stop feeling lazy, I am lazy by the way.

You’re all living in the past. I don’t think anyone under 50 irons anything, my daughters and husbands never have.
In Lidl they have “Back to Uni essentials” including irons, which made me laugh.

If you hang things carefully and put them away very carefully folded, almost nothing needs an iron.

Yes, smart suit shirts might be the exception. So I never wear them!

Thanks for the hint Elliane. I will give it a go. I do not have a tumble dryer and there is no way I could send my grandson to school in unironed shirts.

I used to stand for 3 hours at a time ironing everyone's things at one time, even socks and facecloths, everything. I just run over folded towels and tea towels now, sheets and all.
Except my trousers which have to have creases in them.

Pillow cases - that's it.
