Hello! As I said, I'm new.
I joined today. Not a Gran (or a Grandad), but then I'm not a Mum either, and I'm on Mumsnet.
So. Show me around please!

Anyways, hope everyone is enjoying a pleasant evening.
I had a rather disastrous tea (I'm black country, forgive me) last night.
Heated up M&S pasties, steak for MrC, cheese & onion for me (veggie, again, apologies).
Unfortunately, I got them mixed up, and he ate mine before I twigged.
I ate the pastry and the dog was the beneficiary of the filling.
Very happy dog.

Mumsnet! The land of LTB!

Callistemon Thu 17-Sept-20 12:11:56

No shrinking violet here!
Not surprising really - you've come from Mumsnet!

Lucca

In case of misunderstanding.....my last two posts were meant as compliments

Totally understood here, Lucca. grin

Oh yes Jane I do have a couple of those types of headgear too ( where needed)? sometimes a prod from horned millinery is just the job.

That’s a rather gnomic statement suziew

FC bring small leads of entrenched tribalism

janeainsworth Thu 17-Sept-20 10:31:36

Tin hats? You’ve got those pointy things on your head like Boadicea lemongrovegrin?

lemongrove Thu 17-Sept-20 09:43:54

I have quite a collection of tin hats if anyone would like one,
Acquired over many years of sparring on GN?

FannyCornforth Thu 17-Sept-20 09:35:15

What I must say that I do really like about it here is that it's quite small.
That's why I said in an earlier post that is was quite 'slow'. I hope that that wasn't taken the wrong way.
(Although, to be honest, nearly everything I was saying at that point was being taken the wrong way!wink)
You see the same names all over the place.
It's lovely. I imagine that you've got quite a sense of community.
Although, I can imagine that that also has its downsides sometimes.

Welcome to the site!
There are a variety of threads about different topics, many nothing to do with grandchildren?
There are a few stalwarts who have been here since the beginning, but many others like me who haven’t, and every one has something to bring to the site.
Hope you enjoy yourself; if there isn’t a topic to interest you, start a thread yourself, there will be others who share your interests

Hello again!
Yes, it was fine yesterday after a few teething problems.
And thank you to everyone who pmed me.
And yes, I definitely had quite a welcome smile
No shrinking violet here!

NanKate

Morning Fanny you had a bit of a rough ride yesterday on your first day with us, but obviously you have survived the initiation test. Well done

My only advice as an oldtimer is to avoid the political threads unless you have a tin hat ??

I don’t think she had a rough ride ! I pmd her to explain why certain things were being said. All fine as far as I could see and OP has shown that she is no shrinking violet!

Lucca Thu 17-Sept-20 09:06:37

You seem to hold your own just fine Elliane!

I concur with that Nankate, you need stamina to hang on in there! Shame, because I like to dabble.

Jaxjacky Thu 17-Sept-20 08:28:31

NanKate thank you for your company.....

Aldom Thu 17-Sept-20 08:23:01

Good morning FC. The best thing for you now is to click on the Active button and join the Good Morning thread. Hope your pain will soon ease.

BlueSky Thu 17-Sept-20 08:22:41

Morning Fanny actually you had quite a welcome. My threads generate one or two responses. Must be boring and people enjoy a bit of banter! grin

'Morning all!smile

NanKate Thu 17-Sept-20 07:42:29

Thank you JaxJ for the scrumptious warmed cheese biscuits, the chilled wine or two ?. I think I will now recline in a darkened room surrounded by Pre-Raphaelite pictures of Fanny and recover from last night’s shenanigans.

Not a phrase you read all that often Callistemon. gringrin

Sorry, I should have said Frances!

There is only one reference to her being called Frances in my FH, always Fanny!
