Are you sure Tara has hyperthyroidism, Charley? I've been taking thyroxine for hypothyroidism for at least 25 years!

GrannyGravy13 Sat 03-Oct-20 13:00:17

Snap Susan56 our boiler has broken also!!
Our plumber /heating engineer is on holiday ???

I am sitting in the hairdressers, complete with face covering, no tea and biscuits, screen between my chair and the next. Not a pleasant experience, but needs must.

Keep out of trouble folks, I must try to do better on that front myself grin

dragonfly46 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:39:03

Isincerely hope that will be the case Ann and you do indeed wake up next week with a new hip.

Charleygirl you giving Tara thyroxine reminds me of when I was chasing Dexter around the garden with eye drops. The problem was he could see me coming!

Susan56 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:36:17

Thank you Charlie.I will get DH on the case??

Charleygirl5 Sat 03-Oct-20 12:33:15

Susan are you aware that you may be entitled to money for replacing a defunct boiler. One apparently does not have to be on benefits. I was trying to find out about it but my house is not registered which is a load of nonsense.

Good luck.

Charleygirl5 Sat 03-Oct-20 11:41:53

That person is having a rest but he/she will be back. MawB was in the wrong because she stuck up for me and we gang up it would appear.

I am too old to go forth and multiply and I have never been spoken to like that in my life before.

I will change the subject for obvious reasons.

Tara has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and I have to get 0.5 mls of the feline equivalent of Thyroxine into her x2 daily. It is not supposed to be added to food but Tara would flee if she saw me with a syringe. So far so good, only one dose missed to date but this exercise is shortening my life!

She is taking it in wet food so this is at the expense of her prescription dry food for her abdominal problems. It goes without saying I have around £75 of new dry food waiting for her.

Galen Sat 03-Oct-20 11:39:45

Fingers crossed for you

annsixty Sat 03-Oct-20 11:35:52

I know I was rather taking a risk, I may now be banned for life.
What a ignominious thing to happen to a little white haired old lady.
I would probably never live down the shame.

On a much brighter note on a wet Saturday, if all goes well, I shall have woken up to a new hip this time next Saturday morning.

annodomini Sat 03-Oct-20 11:31:08

That's brave, ann. [Back in the 'good old days' when GN was but an infant finding its way, a certain poster accused me of 'bullying'. Moi? bullying? I had mildly teased her but did she go an complain to the powers that were? Of course not. Those were the days when we could take it on the chin!

annsixty Sat 03-Oct-20 11:25:50

Well just a taster for those of you who would like to be kept “in the loop”.
A relatively new poster starts thread on the most inane topics.

Recently she didn’t like what some of us posted and told us personally to go forth and multiply, not I may say using those words.

She left for a short time but is back.

One very recent thread was how she had lost a thread she started, my post simply said, we have been lucky then.
GNHQ told me I was unkind to her.
That is it simply in a nut shell.

Charley was told She was sarcastic and I believe Maw was accused of picking on her.

Heaven help her if she had been around in “ the olden days” the likes of JBF would have really told her.

If you all feel you no longer wish to associate with such reprobates, well, we shall miss you.

Charleygirl5 Sat 03-Oct-20 11:22:14

Hellogirl I was so pleased you have been offered extra help for Lynne. With luck the majority of the decorating will be finished.

Susan at least it is not mid January when your boiler decided to take a permanent rest. Hopefully you will get it sorted soon but it is an expense you could well do without.

Susan the red card was given for my usual rudeness and sarcasm! I am minding my p and q's at present, especially on here. I do not want soop banishing me for life.

The weather here is awful and I am about to switch on the heating I think.

Morning all,

Lovely picture soop you are a photogenic pair!

Hello Kitty ....waving frantically !!

So what have you lot been up to that has you relegated to the naughty step MawB, Charley and Ann ? I take my eyes off you for 5 minutes and all hell breaks loose!! Mind you , you were being quiet so I should have known lol

I’m off to fritter away the day in the West Wing !

dragonfly46 Sat 03-Oct-20 09:52:26

Pleased to hear you are getting the extra help Callgirl but as Maw says try and look after yourself too. flowers

cornergran Sat 03-Oct-20 09:29:06

Quiet day ahead here,

While pleased the extra care is arranged callgirl I’m sorry you’ve got so much stress to manage. Please make room to care, for yourself.

Minor though it is I’m pleased to report Mr C is comfortable again although instructed not to use his hand for two weeks. Thoughts on how I police that welcome, lack of pain will no doubt discourage good behaviour hmm.

Think we’re pulling up the drawbridge this weekend, the weather discourages venturing out. We’re in a permitted bubble with one of ours and had expected him for lunch tomorrow, it seems one of the granddaughters is unwell (doesn’t sound like covid but hard to tell), as he’s been with her suspect he will stay away.

Boilers pick their times to break don’t they Susan? Fingers crossed it’s not too expensive a fix. Sorry you’re feeling wiped out, wrap up and rest if you can.

I’ve also no idea what the norty ones have been up to Galen, probably best we don’t know grin.

Take care everyone. Should really attempt a little tidying, notice I say should, may just read, tomorrow is another day.

Susan56 Sat 03-Oct-20 08:42:50

Am glad extra care visits have been arranged callgirl. One less thing to worry about.

Charley, hope you are behaving.I would miss you if you were banished.

Have woken up today to find the boiler has packed in?an expense we could do without but hey ho, needs must?

I have been feeling a bit wiped out the last few days so have a few days where I plan to do nothing much at all.

TOYA

Maw, I have been catching up with Soops kitchen and saw your post about Hattie. We took one if our dogs to Davies some years ago for a cruciate ligament operation, my husband had retired from practice as a vet, he rated Davies very highly. Hope all goes well for Hattie. To Soop, belated anniversary greetings.

Puzzler61 Sat 03-Oct-20 07:50:40

Good news Hellogirl about the extra Care Visits. They will help you and Lynne enormously.
Your “chippy” Friday tea sounds yummy. Why not give yourself a treat on Friday’s as a regular thing, even if it costs a bit more?
You deserve it ?

kittylester Sat 03-Oct-20 07:02:13

And best wishes from me too callgirl.

Galen Sat 03-Oct-20 00:52:27

Echoing Maw’s wishes

MawB2 Fri 02-Oct-20 23:52:55

Sending you hugs and lots of strength Hellogirl - do look after yourself too!

Hellogirl1 Fri 02-Oct-20 22:40:39

I must have been reading the wrong threads CharleyG, I haven`t seen any transgressions by you!
Yes Soop, an extra care package is being set up. We`re to have 2 carers 4 times a day, instead of 1 twice a day, then another carer at about 2.30am to see her to the toilet and then into bed. The carers will also assist her in feeding. I don't think the decorating will be finished, but hopefully everything but the 2 wallpapered walls will be done by Monday, and the rest by Thursday when Lynne comes home.
Had a lovely tea delivered tonight from a different chippy, delicious, but a bit pricier than usual, won`t be using them too often.

Galen Fri 02-Oct-20 19:27:37

What have all you lot been doing to get final warnings?

Nannytopsy Fri 02-Oct-20 19:16:39

Good evening all! It’s been pretty damp all day but I managed two garden centres! Our shattered patio glass has been replaced this afternoon and I admit to a looong nap! Perhaps my get up and go will return tomorrow once I have had my flu jab.
TOYA.

Charleygirl5 Fri 02-Oct-20 18:45:11

I am on my final warning- I have no idea how long that is!

The weather here has been horrendous- I will watch Vera and then an early night if Tara comes home.

I was so grateful to Doodle last night for the extra cushions and food and coffee. That will teach me for being rude and sarcastic!

I have had the heating on for hours- it will be supper fairly soon.

kittylester Fri 02-Oct-20 17:45:20

Gg, I'm sorry to hear your news. There is such a lot of sadness about, isn't there. Enjoy your meal

Bellanonna, I think I missed your birthday - it's because you dont look old enough to be having an 80th birthday! Belated happy birthday wishes (and if I didn't miss it - I've got Covid brain and you will have to excuse me!!)

That norty step is looking mighty crowded!!
