Oops! Sorry to have kept you waiting on the new doorstep. Come on in and let's celebrate our new kitchen. grin

Oh dear Hellogirl they do put a caring family in a very hard place don’t they? Of course you want Lynne out of hospital but if conditions at home are not right, the danger is that you both end up as patients. It is so easy to say put your foot down with the discharge team or SS but harder to do, however you need all the ammunition you can find to make sure you are both safe - can you enlist the support of your own doctor for instance?
Thinking of you both xx

Good morning all Kitcheners - not ignoring you! Too much going on in the Kitchen to comment individually but it is a sunny Autumn morning here and I wish you all much ???? in your day.

Charleygirl5 Mon 28-Sept-20 09:30:37

Susan Henry loves his new car and he really is having to concentrate eating that gorgeous cake.

callgirl please refuse to take Lynne home until everything is in place because once home extra help will vanish. 8th October is only next week.

Ann the next week will fly past. Good luck to you it will be so good to be pain-free in the near future.

The sun is shining here but it is certainly not warm.

That is a worry, callgirl! Have you spoken to adult social care?

dragonfly46 Sun 27-Sept-20 22:17:53

What a beautiful picture of Henry Susan. He looks so well.

Callgirl that is quite a worry for you. I hope they can sort things out so it will be easier for you.

Hellogirl1 Sun 27-Sept-20 22:09:04

Kitty, they`re looking at October 8th, but have to install a hospital bed with hoist , Arko Stedy and a wheeled commode first, but apart from still being upside down here, I don`t think I can cope. They`re going to provide 2 carers 4 times a day, but nothing in the night. I`m only just about managing to walk, my back`s still very bad, I`m sure I couldn`t manage a hoist!

kittylester Sun 27-Sept-20 21:56:52

Does this mean that Lynne is coming home soon.

Lovely photos Susan.

Hellogirl1 Sun 27-Sept-20 21:21:54

Thank you Susan, I was rather hoping though that you`d say it wasn`t necessary, lol!

Susan56 Sun 27-Sept-20 20:59:31

We have had a lovely day celebrating Henry’s first birthday.I have attached a few photos.I am sure he would love to share his birthday cake with you all. Both his birthday cake and chocolate cupcake were dairy and egg free so no worry about reactions today.

I have asked DH about the coving callgirl and he says it is best to put it up before wallpapering.

Izabella,I would like to sponsor you too.

Lovely to hear from you Panache. So sorry you are having to put up with so much thoughtless behaviour but glad you are managing to keep yourselves safe.We were hoping to visit my husbands parents in West Wales next month but their town is now in lockdown.

Will be back tomorrow to catch up on everyone’s news.Didn’t think a one year olds birthday party would be so exhausting!

TOYA

Hellogirl1 Sun 27-Sept-20 20:45:32

Izabella, another one here who would sponsor you if possible, you are amazing!
Soop, that wonderful man of yours can`t be pushing 80! He certainly doesn`t look it, the charmer!
Tomorrow, daughters 2 and 3 and myself are off to Lancashire to my BIL`s funeral, a long drive, and seeing as they are not allowed to provide food at the venue for the wake, we`ll have to stop on the way for a snack. Daughter 2 is diabetic so can`t go all day without food.
Can any home decorators help me out? We`re trying to get my living room finished before Lynne comes home. I`ve never had coving, but am having it this time. With being in a rush, we thought that as long as the paint and wallpaper were finished, the coving could wait a bit, but we`ve just been told that it has to go on before the wallpaper. Is that absolutely necessary?

Puzzler61 Sun 27-Sept-20 19:23:05

Thank you and Bonsoir grandmafrench?
Hello to Bellasnana, it’s good to see you back too?
Dragonfly and Panache - Hello.
You’ve both been mentioned often in the kitchen and much missed ??
I ask myself why I keep baking grandmafrench as I need to stop eating so much or I will be like a fat turkey by Christmas (oops sorry for saying the C word in the kitchen). ?

soop Sun 27-Sept-20 18:09:20

I was ironing. Phone call telling me tennis on tv. Andy doing his best but certainly not at his best. Now I'm all behind. I see that many of you have been kind enough to visit the kitchen and update us with news and such. Please bear with me. I shall need to respond to you all tomorrow.

Good wishes to one and all for a peaceful and pleasant Sunday evening. smile moon

Pittcity Sun 27-Sept-20 17:49:57

Wow Izabella, please give us a link to donate. I am very impressed.

dragonfly46 Sun 27-Sept-20 17:13:02

Good afternoon from sunny Leicestershire - I wish it was as warm as it looks.
Went for a walk and a coffee with good friends this morning which was fun.

Yes soop finished chemo in February. It was shortened due to Covid and radiotherapy cancelled altogether as my oncologist deemed me more at risk as I am over 70!
Beginning to feel more normal although it is hard to be normal in lockdown. We are not completely in lockdown but living in a hotspot so being careful.

Envying you your sun and warmth Grandmafrench it makes such a difference.

How lovely your granddaughter wants to talk to you for so long Bellasnana. I have still not had a proper conversation with our 2 year old although I am assured he can speak. Our 5 year old is a little more vocal.

Off to peel the spuds for dinner now.
Have a good evening folks.

Grandmafrench Sun 27-Sept-20 17:03:09

Hello all/Sunday Kitcheners ?‍♀️, c’est moi en France.
Lots of catching up to do here.
Grandmabatty well all of that sounds delish! Maybe you were right about just soup tonight? Crikey, Izabella what a game gal you are. What determination and resolve. Details please if you need sponsors! Meanwhile not too much/too fast, please.
Bellasnana lovely to see you - soak up all the warmth and revel in your GD’s chats so your life gets back on an even keel pretty soon. flowers
Panache hope your day is calm. It’s very worrying about the thoughtless behaviour where you live. Please just make sure that your own personal castle is out of bounds for all except your dear man and you. Your home, your rules. Sanitise anything else around that people who don’t care may have touched. I’m off to the hairdresser soon. I have decided to phone her first and say that I don’t want just her and me in masks....I shall expect to see anyone in that salon, waiting, visiting, whatever, in a mask or I won’t stay silent. She’s so good but what do you have to do to force people to obey the rules? We have to wear masks all of the time now outside our homes - even walking the dog. So, I am prepared to do battle, if I need to.
NannyT hurrah! Glad your stylist knows what happened. Bet you feel better. Dragonfly - maybe you deserve a treat...being able to style something (a little) that you’ve waited so patiently for might give you a lift? Ann we’re going to all need joint replacements if we cross fingers (and toes) any longer/tighter. If it’s just good will and good wishes you need - you’ll sail through this courtesy of the Kitchen.

Hope you’re less pooped after your journeys, MawB

Great to see you back, Puzzler even if you are waving wonderful sausage rolls that I currently can’t eat. I shall wait for the next batch when diet restrictions - along with all the other restrictions - may have eased a bit.

Was little Henry’s car the IKEA of flat pack toy cars, Susan ? Your poor DH - I know dexterity is important, but so is patience. I’d fail on that. Well done. Hope you’ve all had the best time, making memories. He’s actually 1 ??. Bless him and hope he has been dissuaded from approaching other people’s party food, now he’s so quick. ?

Lovely for you to have had all the help, Dustyangel. It’s astonishing what a spare pair of strong hands can achieve.

Gorgeous puppy and painting, Lins. That soop lady’s not just a pretty face. Hope your date comes soon, soop - all out of the way before our weird 2020 Yuletide extravaganza and the chance for you to be stronger and to feel so much better and positive about stuff.

Wishing you a nice evening. Warm thoughts and hugs from French France.

dustyangel Sun 27-Sept-20 16:44:54

I had to stop very suddenly as I was overtaken by three men in the living room DH SIL and GS on phone pointed at TV with GS trying to show the other two how to get different things on iplayer. SIL can manage his at home fine but ours seems different. hmm

dustyangel Sun 27-Sept-20 16:18:21

soop I’ve previewed and lost my reply’s to your questions so many times that my admiration for you has grown even more. How do you do it? Briefly the blue oval in the foreground is our pool, we can’t have an inset one as the land is an ecological reserve. But it works for us as it is. It is still very sunny here 27°today with cooler nights. Rain is threatened for the weekend but if the wind changes the weather will too. Son in law is staying for another 3 weeks and has done a lot of tidying up which has been a great help. He’s staying in the old cottage so is cooking for himself too which is good as we enjoy different types of food. We are all eating out later, we’ve been doing the masks and hand sanitizing since March when we go out and have at least got used to it.

Grandmabatty Sun 27-Sept-20 15:50:09

Stick a fork in me, I'm done. Lunch was amazing. Black pudding scotch egg in a creamed Leek mustard sauce, then roast sirloin of beef, Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings then dark chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream in a warm dark chocolate sauce. I can't move. Send help. ?

soop Sun 27-Sept-20 15:46:38

Ironing awaits. Let joy be unconfined. grin

soop Sun 27-Sept-20 15:45:58

ann Your granddaughter is a darling girl. She certainly takes good care of you and you did after all have a forthcoming event to raise a glass to. It has been almost a month since I had the pre-op assessment for the "drop-bot" surgery. Sometime within the next month, Covid permitting I may have something to celebrate. I do hope that the date doesn't coincide with MacSporran's eightieth birthday. That would be a real "bummer". hmm

Grandmabatty Happy belated birthday treat. Push the boat out - as they say. I can't think why. smile

Dragonfly welcome back. I've missed you. How are you keeping at the moment? Have you completed the chemo sessions?

Panache Your feisty spirit continues to be an inspiration. Having had a very strange twenty minute supervised visit to our pal in the care home just this week, I am in no great hurry to repeat the experience. Everything was way different. I imagine that a time will come when everything will slowly, slowly, slowly returns to a new "normal." I fear that we're in for a very long haul.

Bellasnana Hello there. Come on in. I shall hunt for the cake and we can settle down and play catch up. Hasn't it been grim without a summer of tennis? Rafa is still my heart throb. Yours too, I guess. wink

soop Sun 27-Sept-20 15:25:01

Hellogirl1 When we first met, I was envious of your beautiful thick hair. Any chance of a photo of the new look? You have good bone structure, so I guess it looks very chic.

Nannytopsy You did the right thing returning to the hairdressers for a second opinion and tidy-up. Good customer relations are so important. You will be feeling very much better for the visit.

Susan Birthday greetings to little Henry. The weather here is marvellous. I hope that it is kind to you and that the special occasion can be a very happy event.
Photo of Henry in his toy car would be much admired by us lot.

Izabella It is a treat to have you back with us in the kitchen. May I also add my admiration for your forthcoming fund raising event. You are indeed an amazing lady.

Bellanonna Wishing you all a very happy Champagne garden picnic. Sound wonderful.

Bellasnana Sun 27-Sept-20 15:21:36

Hello dear soop and the kitchen gang. A great many kitchen extensions have been and gone since I last ventured in. Is there any cake?

Sending best wishes to you all in these trying times.?

Panache Sun 27-Sept-20 14:50:20

Good Afternoon friends in Soop`s Kitchen, time I made an appearance.

Although life is not much more than at a standstill,it is amazing how quickly the days slip by.
Especially when again "West is best" regarding the weather this weekend, after a change when equinox came along, we are now enjoying a few days of glorious sunshine, warm even in the afternoons, though positively nippy earlier on.
Time to rethink about our winter wear I guess!

Lovely catching up with you all, inspired as ever by our Izabella ........wishing you well in your forthcoming challenge. The ere thought sends gives me goosebumps but I know you can do it gal!!

Great news about your `op Ann........I hope it is successful.
Always good to get such things over and done with.

Always interested in stories relating to our manes!!! and sadly,I found that on my second visit to my H/D after lockdown, she had "relaxed" her careful ways,so am now in a dilemna ...............as my next trim is needed.
With the virus threat on the increase, I certainly have no desire coming out after careful shielding to find myself falling a victim.
Any suggestions welcomed.

Glad you are happy with yours Nannytopsy.........whilst a warm welcome Dragonfly such good nws hearing your hair is making a welcome return, perhaps just a little "tidying up" needed at this early stage?
It will make a rapid return once started I am told!

Young Sam is certainly a right "Bobbydazzler" stealing the show Lins66...........indeed our Soop is every inch a great artist, and I am sure you will enjoy and treasure her painting of Sam.
Her gallery is ever increasig!!

Nothing much to report from West Wales, still plenty of visitors around, thus far we are free from lockdown thankfully.
However we live in fear in our establishment, as it is bad enough finding compliance of the guidelines are not well adhered to by the residents themselves, however although clear signs state No Visitors (but for those allowed) and a hand sanirizing unit is clearly visible............every Tom,Dick and Harry sail through those doors,no masks worn and certainly no hand sanitizing.................only a matter of time before the dreaded virus enters this building.
Having taken such extra care of ourselves............and those around us,it is particularly hurtful.....and worrying.
Yes we have complained..............more than once actually, as have others........... but the Management have deaf ears.

Time to road test the sun,a little stroll around our garden may set us up nicely.
Wishing you all every blessing, a peaceful day......and whatever else, please take extra care of yourselves.

dragonfly46 Sun 27-Sept-20 13:05:53

ann so pleased to hear you have a date for your op. I must have missed when it was but hope it is soon.

Izabella you are an inspiration to us all and I too would like to sponsor you as the cause is very near to my heart.

Pleased you got your hair sorted out Topsy. I am wondering now that I have hair whether to get it shaped or wait until I have more.

I hope you all have a peaceful Sunday.

annsixty Sun 27-Sept-20 11:15:43

I managed my final fling meal out last night with my GD and two of her friends.
They are all so lovely with me and treat me as honorary Gran.

We were prepared to sit on two tables of two but we weren’t even asked if we were all one household.

It was very strange, having to wear masks until drinks and then food was served.
Masks back on to visit the loo and the staff in Perspex face coverings.

I am pleased we did it but happy not to repeat it.
The hospitality industry, suffering now, will surely suffer more.

The first roast (lamb) for several weeks tonight, I am really looking forward to it.
Have the best day you can everyone, it is very chilly here,

Grandmabatty Sun 27-Sept-20 11:15:35

Izabella* that sounds a wonderful thing to do. Good for you. Nannytopsy I'm glad you went back and got your hair sorted. It would have annoyed you otherwise. I'm going out for lunch. My oldest and dearest friend and her partner are taking me to a lovely local restaurant for a belated birthday lunch. I'm going a bit early to buy them a jigsaw as they have the patience to do them. I don't! I'll return with what I feasted upon later. Have a good afternoon all.
