I've enjoyed Jane10's thread on school mottos so much that I thought I'd ask if anyone can remember their school houses? Ours were Faraday, Scott, Nightingale and Curie. Quite a mixed bag, but seeing as it was a mixed school 2 of each gender was good.

Ours were ranges of hills. I was in Pennine, and its colour was red.
I can't remember the others.

Though, as far as I remember, I don't think these were really 'houses'. The only time I remember them having any significance whatsoever was on the annual sports day.

At primary school it was Malvern and Bredon.

All names are associated with the Worcestershire area.

Goodbyetoallthat Sat 26-Sept-20 19:13:15

Similar to Septimia but instead of Hanover we had Plantagenet.

MayBee70 Sat 26-Sept-20 18:57:59

I must have been in a house at my school but I can’t remember anything about it. I was in the Bullfinches in the Girl Guides, though. Does that count?

Pantglas2 Sat 26-Sept-20 18:52:54

We had colours as well for houses, Chewbacca

In primary school, Crafnant = red, Cowlyd = blue and
Geirionydd = yellow (all lakes above the school)

Comprehensive, Aled = blue, Hiraethog = green and Crafnant & Geirionydd as above

All Sports days, eisteddfodau and suchlike meant points for your house through the year - it got very tribal!

Septimia Sat 26-Sept-20 18:52:04

York (white), Lancaster (red), Tudor (yellow), Stuart (blue), Hanover (green) and Windsor (purple).

It could be quite a giveaway, couldn't it? So is there anyone else out there who matches me?

varian Sat 26-Sept-20 18:47:48

Atholl, (yellow), Douglas (green), Lochiel (blue) and Montrose (red).

Chewbacca Sat 26-Sept-20 18:44:29

Drake, Frobisher, Hawkyns and 1 other but I can't remember who. I was in Drake. And each "house" had their own colour for sports days: red, green, yellow and blue. Drake was blue. Frobisher was yellow. Hawkyns was green but I can't remember who was red.

Callistemon Sat 26-Sept-20 18:25:29

annsixty

Ours were Howitt, Ray and Flamstead and while I must have known at one time what or who they represented, I haven’t a clue now.

We had one called Howitt, annsixty after the poet Mary Howitt. She wrote The Spider and the Fly.

Ours were all local poets, novelists and famous local figures.

Niobe Sat 26-Sept-20 18:19:09

Ours were Douglas, Montrose, Atholl and Locheil. I was in Douglas .

supergirlsnan Sat 26-Sept-20 18:14:48

Ours were Kinver, Clent, Himley and Enville. All lovely local areas.
