Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but a clear sky above this morning in Brackley .
Today a quiet day after watching yesterdays world champs unfold on TV .
Do some laundry , and later today get the flu jab, as my surgery are visiting the residential home.
Take Care ,
Mick

I will have to say hello instead of Good Morning as I am so late! I have just got back from my appointment at the Day Unit, fortnightly blood test today. In just 2 weeks things have changed at the hospital with even more checks before you are allowed past the door, proof the numbers are on the rise here.
Its a lovely sunny day in this part of Surrey and so warm I didn't need a jacket yet yesterday was freezing and we had the heating on!
My only job for today is to chase up a missing parcel I had sent to DD and DGS 2 weeks ago. According to the tracking it was picked up and on the way but that is it! Of course you have to deal with a chatbot, no phone or email contact given but I have tracked down a phone number after a bit of an internet search so am going to try that. I will not be beaten!
Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Good Morning all from cloudy Harrogate (mind you the sun is struggling to come out). This is even later than usual, my school friend just phoned, we have stayed in contact since school! She lives in Alloway, Ayr. We meet up normally 3 or 5 times a year either in Newcastle, Carlisle, Edinburgh. We have also met up in Penrith and Berwick on Tweed. We both miss our meet ups!! Today DH has a hospital appointment, he has a permanent cough - I say permanent because he has had it for about 3 years, previously I had a cough for about 5 years which turned out to be TB. He does not have TB. Just had to keep up the trend!!

Hope all are well.

I try to make notes, Ellan. Your way is the best way, I think.
MawB no wonder you are tempted by memories of that area. You've reminded me of our trip to the Borders, when we stayed at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel on the river. 35 years ago now. We had the most amazing - but quite olde worlde room - with fabulous views and a reproduction four poster replica of the Great Bed of Ware, to sleep in. 10ft 8" wide and 11ft 1" long. (Historically the originally was thought to accommodate 4 couples!) Our breakfast in bed was so enjoyable because we had the equivalent of a dining table between us on which to put the trays, plates etc., without any disturbance. The area was so lovely, we also have photos of the views from Scott's View.

Sorry to hear about the sneezing still, Grey. I get hay fever but it has a cut off point in mid July and hardly bothers me now since having had Chinese medicine treatment from an allergy specialist when I moved to France. It used to be waking at dawn and whilst half asleep sneezing maybe 17 times until my head ached, all through summer. Any idea what your problem is? Allergies?

We're determined to try some spuds in a tub, Mapleleaf. Waiting to get some Estima in the winter from the UK.

Take it easy on that hill, Cherry. Hope you can re-animate your car very soon. Take care of yourselves meanwhile.

Thanks EV good tip. Taichinan and Jaxjacky glad I’m not the only one, just had to scroll back to check spelling, Will have a go at EV’s tip tomorrow —if I’m up in time—

Pittcity Mon 28-Sep-20 11:12:25

I use copy and paste to make sure I spell names correctly.
Opening another tab is a brilliant tip EllanVannin

Susan56 Mon 28-Sep-20 11:07:20

Thank you Cherry.x

grandMattie Mon 28-Sep-20 11:06:28

Thanks But EV, I’m one of the first posters, it’s yesterday’s posts that I usually need!

Greyduster Mon 28-Sep-20 11:04:25

GrandmaFrench kind of you to enquire, but the answer is a resounding no! It goes on ad infinitum, this morning being no exception. When we are out, I don’t sneeze, but indoors I nearly blow the windows out some days!

EllanVannin Mon 28-Sep-20 10:52:05

Open up another Gransnet tab then you can follow the posts as you write and catch up with the authors. I've done this a few times when I've forgotten who said what.

Mapleleaf Mon 28-Sep-20 10:51:11

Good morning.

As Greyduster says, it's bright with the sun trying to shine, but very chilly again. It's quite a shock to the system after the high temperatures of last Monday and Tuesday. It's starting to look very autumnal now, with the leaves rapidly turning and starting to fall.

I picked the last of the ripe tomatoes yesterday and now think I'd better pick the green ones to make a small batch of green tomato chutney as there's no way they will ripen now. DH also emptied the tub containing the last of the potatoes. We've had a reasonable crop to say I only planted up two tubs. I've never grown spuds before, so I've been pleased with the outcome. ?

What a gorgeous view, Maw and Paw looked very dapper, too. ?

A quiet day in store today, with the usual cleaning chores to be done and a wash load to go on the line.

I hope gilly and all our other missing GM's are having a better day today ?.

Take care everyone.

CaroleAnne Mon 28-Sep-20 10:50:39

Happy birthday Taichinan. I hope that your teaching goes on forever. I was very amused by the way you wrote your post.
Sending you a bunch of virtual flowers for your birthdaythanks. Carole.

Jaxjacky Mon 28-Sep-20 10:50:34

Taichinan I made an effort today with a couple of mentions, kept having to scroll back up as petrified of spelling a name wrong!

Harris27 Mon 28-Sep-20 10:49:03

Heating on and work later. Having a cosy Monday morning catching up on ironing and tidying shorter working day today as I’ve a longer one tomorrow. Dreaming of winning the lottery but till then I better get on. Have a good day all.

Grammaretto Mon 28-Sep-20 10:48:07

Good morning all from The Scottish Borders where, after a fabulous weekend it's cloudy and chilly.

I like Melrose too Gelisajams. A favourite trip for us is by train to Tweedbank on the Borders Railway (now deemed one of the most beautiful routes) and then either bus, walk, cycle or taxi to Melrose or to Abbotsford which has reopened but you should book in advance.

For me: Catching up after the weekend..
Wishing you all a happy day.

CherryCezzy Mon 28-Sep-20 10:45:25

Good morning everyone. It's grey and cool in the Gower today.

I didn't so much as get a sniff of the air yesterday morning ?. Those additional meds I take when I've had a seizure need a stronger health warning ?.

I've got my flu jab later today, it'll be an interesting walk back up the hill from the surgery as it's not something I do very often ?. Our car is dead as a dodo so no choice in the matter ?. Typical that it's happened - Thursday it's booked in for a service and an MOT !

Happy belated Birthday NanKate ? and happy birthday to your aunt, Kitty.

Susan I know that your gorgeous DGS had his 1st birthday celebration yesterday but I think his actual birthday is today isn't it? Either way I wish him a very Happy Birthday, he's been through such a lot for such a little boy. This is for him ?.

Marydoll, a tale of good fortune and missed fortune. A tale of school reunited you might say ?

Thinking of BlueSapphire and gillybob ??

Take care everyone, stay safe and have the best Monday you can ❤️

grandMattie Mon 28-Sep-20 10:43:14

Happy birthday for tomorrow Taichinan. Like you, I’ll have forgotten by then, so many happy returns!

Taichinan Mon 28-Sep-20 10:38:22

Morning all from the Angus coast, which also seems to have descended into nothingness as far as the weather goes. I can see miles and miles of sky from my hilltop, but it's all grey today, with a paler shade where the sun should be shining through. But what a glorious weekend it was! I even sat out for a while watching the fish in the pond - they're a bit lethargic now (like me!) - and soaking up the rays. Laura I'm like you - I read everything that's posted but then my poor brain reels with all the information and interesting bits and bobs and I can't put a name to their authors! Maybe with a few more years' practise ........? I keep meaning to jot things down as I read. Anyone have any other tips? Today I must get the ironing board out, and maybe the iron too. And possibly the hoover might get a wee bit of exercise as well. Such excitement is going to be too much for me, so I'll pop into town and pick up my BP pills and pay a visit to Mr Tesco as well while I'm down there. And all this because it's my birthday tomorrow and I'm meeting DD for lunch. I got quite a shock when I realised I am going to be entering into my 80th year! I mean, I knew it was coming, but really? I remember when I first started teaching tai chi 11 years ago and I thought it was a shame that I had come to it so late in life - I thought it would be quite something if I could keep it up until I was 75. Then my aim was 80 ...... There's a lady in Canada who was still teaching at 95, but I won't go there! Sorry, I have gone into what my late DH would have called "auto witter" so I shall exit quietly stage right and send best wishes to all for the best day possible. ???

Nannytopsy Mon 28-Sep-20 10:09:24

Good morning everyone! It’s grey in Suffolk too but at least it’s dry.
We did the school run, so had an early start and now I am having coffee before I start baking. Fruit cake for us and a lemon drizzle for the ‘erberts.
Nfk we have very disappointed squirrels this year, as our walnut tree was heavily pruned in the winter. I have dug up about 20 seedlings and nearly every spadeful of soil has at least one shell in it!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Grandmafrench Mon 28-Sep-20 10:01:08

Good Morning everyone. Well it seems only Beauregard and dragonfly are soaking up sunbeams this morning. Derbyshire and Leicestershire win out. So unless you are visiting ?? Spain or Malta ?? today.....no warmth. You are all welcome chez moi, but not today folks.......it’s really cold and has just started raining! We’re shocked - only 14 degrees in a wicked gale yesterday and despite sunshine then, this must be the coldest weather we’ve ever had in the South of France in September! Hopefully it will pull itself together and revert to normal very soon.

Glad you had a good Birthday, NanKate. Good to count our blessings sometimes and there are indeed some smashing people on here.

I feared for you, Mary. Just for a moment pictured your garden becoming an archeological dig! ? Oh dear! Fortunately only a(nother) Mad Moment @ the Marydolls...grin .

Sorry about Mr C’s hand, corner. Hope it’s diagnosed and the problem soon resolves. Scentia and Gelisa wishing you lots of fun - and no rain - and safe journeys.

People are very strange, feelingmyage and definitely disappointing sometimes. When I have to explain to someone who ought to know better why we just can’t do as we like any more, I often think back to being in a train or a confined space with smokers. I would often ask, politely, if anyone minded my opening a window. Why? Why worry when someone else is polluting the air the rest of us are breathing, with smoke ?? But often, they’d object! That’s so rude as to be almost funny. Now, we’re having to explain - to some - why we’d rather avoid risking illness.....and they’re offended. (And breaking the rules!) Incredible. Have the happiest time with your Son.

Emptying and re-arranging the study, sorting out boxes of photos to be transferred onto hard drives and dusting hundreds of books today. (Be still my beating heart !! ?)

Speaking of dusting....have you finally stopped sneezing, Greyduster ? Or does that go on into the colder weather?

Sending you smiles, ??, and good wishes to those unwell or struggling with life’s challenges. Just KEEP SAFE, please.

Hugs from la Belle France ??

MawB2 Mon 28-Sep-20 09:56:01

Good morning everybody from sunny but nippy N Bucks.
Not as cold as over the weekend which came as a bit of a shock, but still, enough to know the year is turning.
Have a lovely time visiting Melrose, Gelisajams I was born and brought up just a few miles away and have always loved the town. There is a wee shop for sale in the (only) street and and I have had to sit on my hands because there are a million and one reasons why it would be a bad move for me - but so tempting! Have you been to Abbotsford? Or walked up the Eildons?
Now you’ve got me all nostalgic! This pic of Paw at Scott’s View shows the lovely countryside and in September, when the heather is out, it should be at its best.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 28-Sep-20 09:48:56

Morning all from a fairly bright South Notts. I managed the shopping all right yesterday morning though I got there later than usual so the queue to get in was a good deal longer but fast moving. Later on I finished sewing a lining into a pale biker jacket and it seems to have worked out reasonably all right. Must get some more projects completed.

I expect to go out for a drive later just to keep the battery topped up. I'll do my little circuit and won't get out of the car. I don't think that's breaking any rules.

Hope all is well with everyone especially those with worries or illness.

Greyduster Mon 28-Sep-20 09:47:15

Ellen I remember the Goth phase - DD and her friends flapping off down the road like a bunch of black crows!

Greyduster Mon 28-Sep-20 09:42:08

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is out in South Yorkshire but it is bloomin’ cold! We put the heating on yesterday. DD and hers came over yesterday for curry, and GS was “helping” me in the kitchen (“Ooh, can I try a bit of this....”). I don’t see a lot of him at the moment and me towers over me now! He asked if he could take the leftovers home and take it in a food flask for his lunch today. Nothing goes to waste with that lad. DH has to wait in for a call from the surgery today so we won’t be going far. Gardening I think. Have a good safe day folks.

Georgesgran Mon 28-Sep-20 09:20:34

Good morning from Durham. Predictive text wants to put Dubai - if only!

Grey, but calm here so far. Responded to GP text re a mass vaccination this Saturday, but all slots already taken. Several more sessions planned, so will have to be patient.

Big shop today and going to make a batch of apple and pear chutney later - the house will stink of vinegar, but the end product’s very nice.

Hope everyone has the best day today. X

Urmstongran Mon 28-Sep-20 09:19:06

Horrid people GG13
Probably embarrassed at being pulled up about the masks!
