Someone asking to recommendations to have their sceptic tank serviced!

And a piece of trellis for sale, that was apparently surplice to requirements!

I reckon I must have a sceptic tank or st least a deep well of scepticism.
And presumably the trellis came from the Vicarage?

Adverts are always a source of great amusement. Do the advertisers ever read them before they press post?

Mrs Malaprop is alive and well and living in your village, phoenix!

My friends FB had someone advertising Chester Draws for for sale. I don’t know who Chester Draws is, but I hope he’s happy to be sold! grin

I knew a girl who went to Torreymayleenos in about 1985.
“ Posh “ it woz so posh the food cum in silver latrines.
She also said the bathroom (on sweetay) woz posh too, it had a toilet to wee in and one for the other.
How she ever filled in the form for a passport was beyond me.

Many years ago I was explaining the company’s life insurance policy to a young worker, and had got to the about about beneficiaries. I simplified it by saying that in the unlikely occurrence that he died that the amount could be given to whom he nominated. He thought for a while, then handed me the completed form. I couldn’t make out the nominee which was written as Arfnarf. When I queried this, he looked surprised and told me it was arf for his mum and arf for his dad!

Lady in our village was upset with neighbour's building works

Went to court and the extension was allowed to stay

Lady put up a massive sign in her garden telling us that a president had been set

Today's offering!

Someone has a 2 seater sofa with manuel recliners.

So, it must come complete with a nice Spanish waiter to press the buttons for you, which is nice.

Daddima Fri 02-Oct-20 14:23:35

Well, I assume this is a typo, but, on the other hand.......

Goodness me, Daddima, it's bad enough with having to distance and wear a mask when you go for your chips, but this would be too much, don't you think? grin

suedonim do you think Chester Draws might be related to Nesta Tables? I think they would make a lovely pear (or should that be pair)

BBbevan Fri 02-Oct-20 15:58:29

We saw ‘corjets for sale in the market. Also a few years ago a Christmas outdoor fair was cancelled because of the ‘whether’

Chewbacca Fri 02-Oct-20 18:51:18

In the window of our corner shop, you can put up a postcard with items for sale or service. There's been card up for weeks now saying "I alter cloths, zips replaced, trowsers shortned, cloths taken in. Call xxxxxx and leave a message." Next time I go past the shop, I'll photograph it and show you.
