OMG...wether you love him or loathe him...he looks so very poorly.....not being nasty...but feel that he absolutely shouldn't be making decisions

Hetty58 Wed 30-Sept-20 10:56:51

I'm not a fan, but still, he comes across as so pathetic and confused. That's not what we need from a prime minister!

I wonder if he is going to get us through Brexit so he will go down in the history books as the PM who did. Then he will resign on the grounds of ill health due to having had Covid. It has all gone wrong for Boris and his dice with death surely has had an impact on him. He seems to be approaching everything half heartedly without his usual gusto.

True, and the best outcome if he got to Jan/Feb and then resigned.
There are Hunt and Gove waiting in the wings, Gove isn’t popular with the membership I have read, but Hunt could be a good PM.

Alegrias Wed 30-Sept-20 10:54:01

He squandered any sympathy we all might have felt for him when he was ill. Instead of using that experience to learn and help build solidarity, he's just gone back to being the incompetent buffoon he was before.

EllanVannin Wed 30-Sept-20 10:47:38

This Covid has certainly been a test during his premiership as it would have been to anyone who was trying to run the country under such circumstances but it would seem that it's proving too much for him to efficiently continue.

If the position's going to affect his mental well-being then it's time to call it a day. The longer he goes on the worse his health will deteriorate as he's got more than the leadership to contend with in his life. He's lost his buzz !

Toadinthehole Wed 30-Sept-20 10:39:35

The weight loss is deliberate. We were watching something...and he appeared on it briefly talking about his dieting. He does look unwell, but that’s the nature of the aftermath of Covid. He probably should step down, but I dread to think who we’d get in his place. I do like him, but can see he’s not coping.

farview Wed 30-Sept-20 10:38:43

Well said Parsley3..

Parsley3 Wed 30-Sept-20 10:33:24

I have no idea if the PM is suffering from poor health or not but he is clearly struggling with competence.
He should now choose to make a dignified exit on health grounds and hang on to some shred of credibility.

GillT57 Wed 30-Sept-20 10:32:54

I have no sympathy at all for him, covid or not. He desperately wanted this job despite being unfit for it due to his lack of responsibility, ability to plan, do research, work hard etc. Frankly, he can own it as far as I am concerned. Meanwhile, as he fails to perform we are all left aghast on the sidelines as he bumbles, flannels, generally makes a fool of himself and the country. I do wish people would stop making excuses for him; if he is ill he needs to step down, the current political situation with covid19 and the fast apporaching meltdown of Brexit is far more important than his vanity. There is an interesting theory in the FT that he will go in January, on the pretence that he has 'delivered what the electorate want and got us out of the EU' and will then clear off and hand over the impossible job to Gove as an act of revenge for the backstabbing during Johnson's previous leadership attempt in 2016. Johnson knows that it is impossible and doesn't want to be in charge when this all becomes obvious.

MayBee70 Wed 30-Sept-20 10:26:12

If he had long Covid he wouldn’t be playing tennis, going jogging etc. Most of the people around him had the virus, too and they seem to be functioning normally (or in the case of Hancock not functioning as usual). He was never up to the job. All he does these days is appear in photo shoots wearing a variety of costumes spouting three word slogans. His hair ruffling persona that was mildly endearing when he used to be on HIGNFY now looks ridiculous in a middle aged man who is leader of a country. I feel no sympathy. He achieved what he always wanted (in the way that he has achieved everything in life ie by lying) but it hasn’t turned out to be the fun job he thought it would be. And, heaven help us, Cummings and Murdoch have got Gove lined up to take his place.

varian

Should he not have been wearing a mask?

I wonder if he's exempt due to breathing problems and long Covid?

FannyCornforth Wed 30-Sept-20 10:18:18

I'd have Mrs May back.
I do agree Sarnia, there's not a great deal of talent about.
Ditto with the opposition.

Sarnia Wed 30-Sept-20 10:14:57

Whether you are a Boris fan or not, if he goes, who would replace him? The alternatives are the stuff of nightmares.

FannyCornforth Wed 30-Sept-20 10:14:16

Dear God, he looks awful.

Riverwalk Wed 30-Sept-20 10:09:10

Bumbling Boris doesn't look so 'endearing' these days - now he's prime minister.

Ruffling his hair just doesn't have the same appeal!

FannyCornforth Wed 30-Sept-20 08:58:33

Can you tell I don't like him?smile
I even voted bloody Corbynsad

FannyCornforth Wed 30-Sept-20 08:56:29

travelsafar for gusto read bluster.
The man is an amoral charlatan.

FannyCornforth Wed 30-Sept-20 08:53:49

Agree about the long Covid and his inability.
I remember crying on the day of the Brexit result because I was so scared that he would be PM.
I wish thank he had have been now, as we'd be well rid of him.
His absolute sense of entitlement is staggering.
Someone said that Johnson wanted to be PM, and wants to have been PM, but doesn't want the bit in the middle.
How do you lot think that this will pan out?
Do you think that he will 'deliver' Brexit, or go before then?
Cummings' father in law said he'd go in February, I hope that he doesn't last that long.

travelsafar Wed 30-Sept-20 08:52:45

If he is unwell he should step down immediately after all there are plenty of fantastic alternatives waiting in the wings.......

Sparklefizz Wed 30-Sept-20 08:47:28

He’s simply not up to the job - nothing to do with having been ill. He thought in December that it was going to be a breeze but he’s well known to be idle, not interested in detail, never taking responsibility for anything. He has no self awareness, is unable to reflect on his own shortcomings and failings. There could not have been a worst personality to be PM during a pandemic. If there’s any sympathy going, there’s plenty who need it because of him

He nearly died only a few months ago. Anyone who has suffered from post viral symptoms can understand (mine led to 31 years of M.E.) and will know that you can't just leap back into action, especially when the country is suffering such a crisis.

When he first reappeared on the podium, he was very breathless. I think he still is.

Sparklefizz Wed 30-Sept-20 08:43:03

I think he is suffering from Long Covid which can include mental exhaustion in the form of brain fog as well as physical exhaustion.

He is not well and should step down on health grounds.

vegansrock Wed 30-Sept-20 07:50:36

Resembling Worzel Gummidge isn’t a good look, umming and erring and bumbling speeches is embarrassing, but worse is not knowing the detail of your own rules. Doesn’t inspire confidence and could explain why so many flout the rules.

Riverwalk Wed 30-Sept-20 07:47:55

He's not up to the job.

If anyone needed reminding of how he doesn't do detail only had to watch his toe-curling performance yesterday when he didn't know the new rules he was imposing on the NE.

Kept looking to his left for assistance, but none was forthcoming grin

Whitewavemark2 Wed 30-Sept-20 07:44:48

Johnson has never ever been up to any job he has undertaken.

The worse thing is that the majority of parliamentary MPs knew that before he was elected but they went ahead anyway because they thought correctly that his buffoonery would win the election. The fact that they knew he would be bad for the country didn’t matter.

Now chickens and roost.

He will be gone. The question is who next? That is the worry. Look at the possibilities?
