Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark ,wet and windy here in Brackley this morning , its a storm with a name.
Usual shop early , and get back watch some TV , then after lunch watch cycling on TV a raced based in Belgium, so conditions will be somewhat similar to what I am seeing now .
The Giro tour of Italy starts tomorrow , in this belated cycling season usually held in May .
Take care ,
Mick

Luckily Maw our son in law has a wide extended family close by should the need arise. Hopefully not, but as you quite rightly say, it’s a reassurance in itself.

Thanks everyone for being so lovely and caring. It’s been a long day and here in Spain we’re an hour ahead so I’m off to my bed.

See you in the morning. x

Urmstongran I am so sorry to hear this and appreciate how frustrated and worried you must be feeling.
On the plus side they are young enough and fit enough to make the best possible recovery, it sounds as if they have reacted promptly and are doing all the right things. Yes you want to parachute in don’t you? A natural maternal reaction but counter productive.
Wishing them all well, are there people nearby/at hand if they need help or support with the children? I know there shouldn’t be any contact but it would be good to know there is a listening ear, at the very least.

Urmstongran wishing your family a speedy recovery, your daughter is correct in not getting the children tested. Our five year old GS had the test he was traumatised, it’s not something they should have to endure.

Grandmabatty Fri 02-Oct-20 20:40:38

Oh Urmston I'm really sorry to hear that. You must be so worried. ? For you and your wee family. I'll send positive thoughts through the Internet.

Susan56 Fri 02-Oct-20 20:33:32

Grammaretto Fri 02-Oct-20 19:36:32

That is a shame Urmston but just as well you and MrUrms aren't with them.
I hope they recover quickly xx

NannyJan53 Fri 02-Oct-20 19:25:16

Oh Urmston so sorry the test was positive. Hopefully they are young enough to overcome this without too much difficulty. Love and hugs to you and your family

CherryCezzy Fri 02-Oct-20 19:16:50

Sorry to hear that tests came back the wrong way Urmstongran. They are young enough to come through this fine ?. I hope your DGC will be unaffected ?

Marydoll Fri 02-Oct-20 18:59:26

Urmston, I'm so sorry to hear that. I was wondering how things were. ?

brook2704 Fri 02-Oct-20 18:56:45

Just an update.

Our daughter’s just rung me. They both got a positive test.

They had been super cautious too. No socialising. Work and home. Just son in law doing the weekly shop wearing a mask.

His symptoms were fatigue, headache, high temp over 38° and aching muscles. Thank goodness paracetamol has finally brought his temperature down after 36 hours.

DD2 had headache, aching neck, loss of smell and taste.

They kept the children home today while they waited for the result. Grandson (just 8y) punched the air and said ‘yes’ at no school for 2 weeks, then cried as he can’t go to football tomorrow.

Our daughter is just doing a Tesco shop on line now. She rang the head where she works and he is closing the 2 classes in reception and Year 1 where she is key stage lead.

I suppose at least they have it together. I feel guilty being out here but to be honest we wouldn’t be able to go straight into their bubble if we went home and we’d be vulnerable too as Himself is almost 70y and I have hypertension.

Just have to hope that at 40y and 45y they are young and fit to get over it. Mummy doesn’t want the children tested as they are well. She doesn’t want to put them through a test - Our granddaughter is only 3 and a half.
She just hopes they stay well.

Oh my little family.

Alegrias what a lovely picture! Thank you.
No wonder my friend moved there from Glasgow!

Borrheid55 Fri 02-Oct-20 17:43:32

CherryCezzy thank you! I’ve dipped into GN for a while but recognised my school motto when Marydoll posted it. She worked out quickly who I was! Now I’m checking in every day! What a small world!

Marydoll Fri 02-Oct-20 17:35:07

Kalu stop it!!!!

Kalu Fri 02-Oct-20 16:34:09

I had just thought of Moshulu and also Pretty Things in South Street, the one we can never remember the name of Marydoll. Maybe next year. ? Plus the ironmongers on Market Street. ?

Alegrias Fri 02-Oct-20 16:34:01

Marydoll and Kalu and others missing St Andrews, a picture for you. Taken this morning.

Alegrias Fri 02-Oct-20 16:30:32

Marydoll and Kalu And Toppings bookshop!

Marydoll Fri 02-Oct-20 16:25:42

Alegrias and a trip to Moshulu and that shop on the corner we like Kalu! The one that sells the nice jewellery! ?

CherryCezzy Fri 02-Oct-20 16:02:28

Welcome Borrheid ?, though you are a "newbie" to many it seems you are an "oldbie" to some ?.

Jan16 I hope the hospital sort your DH out pronto and he recovers quickly and strongly from what ails him ?

Kalu Fri 02-Oct-20 15:57:18

Alegrias, I envy you spending time in St Andrews today. A stroll along the East sands finished off with a coffee al fresco at The Dunvegan would be such a treat.

Kalu Fri 02-Oct-20 15:49:36

* Borrheid*, don’t hold your breath on Marydoll keeping quiet for too long, if at all! Although she is very talented, keeping quiet is not a talent she is known for. ??...I should talk!!?

Borrheid55 Fri 02-Oct-20 15:38:30

Marydoll my lips are sealed!

Marydoll Fri 02-Oct-20 15:37:38

Borrheid I will keep quiet if you do!

Borrheid55 Fri 02-Oct-20 15:36:45

And my mummy still lives about 100 yards away from it Dragonfly46

Alegrias Fri 02-Oct-20 15:34:51

Beautiful day in Fife today, we've just been to St Andrews for a walk along the cliffs. Now we're battening down the hatches for the storm tomorrow.

We should have been in Hawaii just now (!) at a conference for DH's work. Obviously didn't happen...so DH will be there virtually tonight.

Taichinan, I got your name wrong yesterday, sorry!

Fingers crossed for you Urmstongran, and all others with troubles today.
